    This is what people, without lots of dough who want to build a home gym, watch. All the other channels such Garage Gym Review, etc assume people have $1,000s to spend. If you are broke or don't have that kind of cash, this is the route to go. I started my home gym back in 2010 with used equipment from Play It Again Sports and craigslist and ocassionally added new budget equipment. Now my gym is complete and I can pretty much do every exercise out there.

    In case you didn't know, you can buy a detachable pulley system from ebay for like $60. You attach it to the top of the cage and then you can do lat pull downs and so on. Resistance bands are good, but they lose their tension at the bottom

    • @scottvasnik
      @scottvasnik  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the suggestion! I have definitely considered that option but I am a bit worried about the weight stack swinging into the mirror. There probably is a way to make it work though, I’ll have to revisit that soon. Thanks for watching!

      People attach a heavy chain to weight to stop it swinging or something like bunji cords and other things. Also...lift slowly and smoothly.
      There are home gym channels that are more into diy stuff that talk about this.

    Bro Those 45’s on the adjustable dumbbell bar had me on the floor rolling lmao. I have that same marcy bench. What i did was get a 1/2 inch, and a 1 inch piece of black iron pipe about 5 inches long from home depot. Use either one to give you more options when using the incline. You will see where you need to put it to give you so much more incline options.

    • @scottvasnik
      @scottvasnik  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha yeah, the 45’s really hurt the range of motion on those. That’s a good idea! I am always looking for inexpensive upgrades like that. Thanks for the suggestion!

    My gym is 63 SF. 7 x 9. Full squat rack. My bench is two pieces of 1/2” plywood screwed together (48” x 12”) supported by concrete blocks. Cost less than $5 at the time, and still adequate. Barbell movements can be supplemented by exercise bands. And this is a basement gym, so no problem heating or cooling.

    Barbell holder on the floor can hold 5 barbells ins less than 1 sq foot and sell for around $70. Another consideration should be buying 6 foot barbells if working in a small space. The best budget bench that is a FID one with a height of 17 inches is the Rep Fitness AB-3000 2.) FID that sells for $330 with free shipping. Very fast to adust the REP bench.

    Hi Scott, congrats to your weightloss! Lookin' good! Nice video. Some jokes, lots of information and straight forward presentation.
    It's funny: in America people go: I will build a homegym. First things first: floormats and squatrack :D
    In Europe people usually go: dumbbells, barbells, plates, gym machine, mirror.
    That's propably because people in Europe usually start in small flats.
    That was also my journey:
    dumbbell + ez-barbell + weights in an amazin starter pack,
    then barbells,
    then bench,
    then treadmill,
    then "Inspire FT2" which virtually changed my life, couldn't live without it anymore,
    then battle rope.

    • @scottvasnik
      @scottvasnik  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the kind words! I am glad you enjoyed the layout of the video. Interesting perspective on the European side. Dumbbells are definitely a great place to start. Especially if you can afford some good quality adjustable ones such as 1090s. Thanks so much for watching, and best of luck in your fitness journey! 💪

    Yikes, algorithm has AI doing mind reading now. Going back to grad school and especially my one bedroom is now my gym... coming from a respectable size garage gym.
    It's making me a tad neurotic as I spent a good amount of money on some specialty pieces and didn't want to.part with them. So essentially I'm having to play musical chairs when I usw certain lieces of equipment and can't use certain things together.
    Not gonna lie. I love it, but it's frustrating as well with the extreme lack of space, because it's becoming way more time consuming and cumbersome than I had originally expected.
    Thank Gid my girlfriend isn't over my place much. It's bordering on a cross between an amazing hime gym vs. looking like a mine field/hoarder, ...if the land mines and the hoarding items were equipment and weights lol, smh.
