"We want to be victorious, but the world is still ignoring us. Let's be civil, let's be brave, 'cause they will not stop 'til we're in graves." Wow, this part was so powerful... :(
My dad sent me here. I'm Penobscot and I never grew up near my reservation. my mother is Navajo and I have been raised out west on her traditions. When I heard this it made me so proud to be both tribes and makes me want to learn more about my other half. I love the meaning and message of this song and it was done so beautifully by these amazing kids. I will continue to listen to this song on repeat.
Thank you hi this is Autumn sister and I just dissed brought me to tears when I read all your guys's messages and thank you so so much for saying this I am in a different tribe now but I'm still part of my Indian Penobscot tribe love you all
I LOVE these powerful lyrics, " We want to be victorious but the world is still ignoring us"... Such a painful and brutal TRUTH! Listening and sharing far and wide - Ignoring NO More!
I wish to be more involved with the Penobscot heritage. My Grandmother was full blood & gave birth to my father in New Brunswick Canada 1960. Jeanette Marie Tomah. I've always wished to meet her & know more. Due to adoption this wasn't possible...Very touching song. I love it ❤️
This is our generation, we stand together, all tribes in each directions, as one. We cannot be defeated. Never stop singing, we need to keep our culture alive. Together, we will not be defeated.
I shared this on linked in and several Elders chimed in with comments such as: "life saving faith that next gens are being empowered and empowering!" "Very uplifting!" "Great gratitude for your music and spirit's strong." I did a presentation at college last week on how colonization has fractured the foundation of Indigenous traditional love... included "Old Turtle and the Broken Truth" and your song.... all class mates said it was one of the most beautiful songs they've ever heard!!! For the hope and faith you give me for my grand-babies, I thank you too!
This is my awesome community and I'm proud of my sister all my sisters all my family every single one of them and me fight for each other and I'm so happy that someone made up this song now I'm so proud
Love, honor and respect to the great and honorable Penobscot Nation, from your fellow neighbor and fellow friend of the Mi'kmaq Nation. Wabanaki pride!
My Mom was so proud to tell us we had Penobscot blood in us. Our high cheekbones and deep set eyes, even with our light hair and green eyes, were very noticeable. I'd love to learn more. I was born in Maine; my great great grandmother was full blooded.
Keep up the good work. I'm part native my father was raised on the reservation things were tough for him growing up so keep up the good work thanks for putting out good lyrics that makes sense 👍👍.
I can easily say that this is where the beautiful people are from in Old Town. So many of the men and women are REALLY good looking. Being from Milford Maine, I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet some of the best people I know from the reservation. ✌ Best of luck to all, and this song is great!
Love this song!!!! I put it on my playlist some time ago, and when it played I was thinking, wonder who is playing.. -Must be some big name!! Love from Denmark
Wow. This is awesome. One of the best hiphop songs I've heard in a looong time. I got chills through the whole song, and it actually brought tears to my eyes just out of pure pride... And the message is so powerful. Love it. Very proud of you guys, this is something else. Proud to be a surviving native american/skicin, still alive and kickin... Proud to be Passamaqouddy/Maliseet, always. Woliwon from Indian Township, Maine (Passamaqouddy Tribe) Naka PESQ LOVE (Penobscot, Passamaqouddy, Maliseet, Mi'kmaq)! Godbless!
i give thanks to all those who created this. its soul stirring. keep it flowin. music is our universal language and it is born of the same love that can save us
What an amazing surprise to see this! You all did a fantastic job and should be extremely proud. Well done! I am proud to be fortunate enough to be married to a tribal member.
Absolutely incredible everyone, you all would make your elders so very proud and you all have amazing teachers, Miigwetch for your wonderful stories of true survival😍
Yeah, this is really dope. Powerfully delivered verses bursting with passion, a captivating and compelling chorus, and a sick ass beat with a dirty guitar riff makes this an instant add to my fav's. This is lava!!! Love and Respect from MegaZart, Ottawa.
I found it a struggle to connect to my heritage due to my skin color, I might be Maliseet and Passamaquaddy but I don't look it. That being said I got shunned by people on the reservations and am still looked at like an outsider. "Dig a little deeper young girl" hit hard
nope. If you don't know, then don't respond. It's truthful, honest, and raw. Every band, singer, or rapper expresses their music the exact same way. It's called life.
I lived on the island until i was 4.moved because my family spilt up.im a registered citizen. I want to come back.your music is calling me.
"We want to be victorious, but the world is still ignoring us. Let's be civil, let's be brave, 'cause they will not stop 'til we're in graves."
