Congratulations to your content! There are dozens "tutorials" on youtube about painting minis, but you are the first channel I see that actually gives step by step instructions as well as providing the color you used and how they interact with each other. Most creators lose time trying to make clickbait thumbnails and titles but you give some useful information instead. Keep up the great content.
You make me want to go seraphon again -after selling my old units XD- DAMM YOU. Thank you for your awesome content. I need to review on those bases btw, to see if the names of the products are there too.
Very nice work. I think the biggest bang for buck was the highlight of the feathers, re-establishing rhat feather texture really makes a huge difference overall for a relatively small detail.
@@MattsHobbyHour For sure, it's one of my favourite "hobby hacks" when it comes to army painting, or just any type of time sensitive painting. Going the extra mile on a few key details, feathers on that model being an excellent example, but also faces, power swords, etc makes everything else look "more painted".
I use to have Lizardmen as a kid in the early 2000s and seeing all your lizardmen painting videos makes me want to pick some of their models up eventually!
Love your videos! Convinced me to get back into the hobby, these contrast paints are something else, great as a base and you can still make them even better with a bit more effort. I'll be following these guides as I work on my lizardmen army!
I think all my skinks are blue, but you got me thinking that red skinks could also be good proxies for kobolds in D&D. Although with modern scale creep, that's probably more appropriate for the older skink models. I'm always looking for opportunities to use my painted figures in other game systems now days. Cheers Mr. Matt.
Just found you. Love your content, please keep the videos coming! Please paint the Kroxigor and the Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur from the Spearhead box. I'm considering picking it up as a second Spearhead for the new edition. Could really use the help tackling that beast
Hi Matt. Another great video. Could you explain your choice of Dawnstone (instead of the grey primer) as a base for the black parts - is it to change the tone of the highlight? Really interesting info on the reasons to add in the Lothern blue to your Aethermatic blue. 👍🏻
Couple reasons for Dawnstone. Black Templar isn't very saturated, so if you paint it straight over white primer it doesn't look dark enough. The other reason is that most of the areas (claws and ropes) had some of the blue basecoat splashed on them. Contrast paint needs an even undercoat before you paint it. So we either have to paint it white again or use something else, and Dawnstone covers in one coat as opposed to white needing a few coats. Hope this explains things! That's a good question and I'll try to explain it in a future video. Thanks for watching!
It's an enamel wash with great surface tension and capillary action. It pulls itself along almost the entire recess you want black lined. Tamiya makes some.
Hello! How did you highlighted the musles? I'm newbie and would like to know, it's the hardest thing for me with diference, to paint musles and shadows
I didn't do any highlights on the skin/muscles. I just used a contrast mix and then a shade paint. I applied those pretty generously and let the paint do most of the work for me. It's all at the beginning of the video, I'd encourage you to watch that part a couple times. It will explain things a lot better than I can through text! Hope this helps, and good luck!
@@MattsHobbyHour Thanks! Yes, I've already watched 2 times the video and I thought you omit that part, but I will concentrate haha Thanks for the video
Nicely done.
Thank you!
I love your painting and find your voice very soothing. Thanks for entertaining me with your videos, Matt. :)
Glad you enjoy it, and thanks for watching!
Beautiful job mate, would love to see you takle the rest of the Lizardmen range in a similiar scheme oh the Chameleon skinks eventually
thanks for watching! There are a few more of their models on my radar... keep an eye out for them in the future!
Cult of Sotek army here i come lol
@MattsHobbyHour how would you contrast paint the shields on the standard skinks?
@@sigmatus303 I'd probably do the shields similar to the green scales from my Saurus guide here: th-cam.com/video/Q0CX52XxCk8/w-d-xo.html
You have insane brush control.
thanks for watching!

Please paint kroxigor🙏🙏🙏
thanks for the suggestion!
awesome paint job ! I especially love the way you did the feathers. You are by far my favorite Old World / AoS painter 👍
That is really kind of you, and a big honor, thank you!

Thanks! Yeah I agree, little details and bright colors like the feathers can really elevate a piece.

I love the old Lizardmen models. I hope you're able to get some and paint them!
This explanation is perfect. I have my seraphon and speed paint ready to go!

Cool effects 🖌
Thanks!
They're amazing - Good inspiration for my Mordheim warband.

Great idea! I don't play many different games these days but I can really see the appeal of using figures in multiple game systems.
Very nice. You gave me some really good ideas. Thanks!

Have you ever used panel liner for black lining? If so, what do or don't you like about it?
I haven't used any products specifically labeled "panel liner". What is it, like an oil/enamel paint?
It's an enamel wash with great surface tension and capillary action. It pulls itself along almost the entire recess you want black lined. Tamiya makes some.
@@knobjob2839 cool, I'll have to try it some time! I do oil washes some times. I bet it's nice having something similar that's pre-mixed.
What do you use for the cork/handle on the temporary base? I've got a few jar stoppers but that handle looks really nice to use.
The corks are from whiskey/bourbon bottles. I like them a lot since they have a wide, flat underside.
