I took a bit of a shortcut when I did mine last month, I bought a refurbished controller that had a new (traditional) stick mechanism & button membranes plus a cleaned up shell. Oh & don’t worry, the shoulder buttons were a bit of a fiddly pain for me too. You know you’re supposed to be able to use it as a wired USB controller via the USB charging port? Haven’t actually tried it yet myself.

grabbing a refurbished one sounds like a good idea, I just had a spare one around and figured it would be good for the job.
I've not tried it via usb, but that is mostly due to the machines having bluetooth and wanted to show off the wireless nature.

I really enjoyed this and it's awesome that you know how to do this stuff. I particularly liked the window-in-window controller bath! Perhaps this could be recurring feature where you dunk increasingly surreal objects

Happy you enjoyed it, thankfully these kits were quite simple.
just a few screws and wires to deal with.
and awesome that you liked the picture in picture, I do have some concepts for doing it more 😁

Its a shame its got issues on the n64 its self, as that's probably where I would just it the most. I think I'll check back in a few months and hopefully they will have identified issue, and have fixed or are working on it.

nothing has been mentioned in months, so not holding my breath they will fix it.
but it would really elevate the pad.

Nice Video sir ,thanks for explain, If I want to change 8 bitdo Joystick with my original N64 controller only
    is it compatible?

both the stick and the wireless module can be used on their own.
so you can mix and match them, so if you just wanted the stick and use it with a regular N64 you can (I have one that is setup just like that).

I don't care how much one might argue for GCN sticks...they just don't work with N64 games. The gate is wrong and the sticks are too sensitive. Even if manufactures get the gate right...the "throw" of the stick is always wrong. Too sensitive/quick.
You've got to use OEM sticks or replacement parts i.e. Kitsch-Bent to get as authentic experience as you can get.
Be that as it may...Great Job!
