This is sold daily on the streets of South Africa, we make it without vanilla. Also nice with cheese, mince or just plain. We call it vetkoek or magwenya. Thank you.
Best recipe I tried ur measurements were so precise I added 2tsp yeast and they were lovely big and fluffy. Must say very happy and impressed with ur recipe best iv tried on TH-cam. Normally add flour when so sticky to knead but followed ur recipe and the stickiness does come together thank you x❤
I made these this past weekend, my kids and husband loved them. So easy to followed your instructions, I substituted the cow milk with almond milk though. Next I’m making the donuts and lasagna. Thanks for making this lovely channel.
Omg I came back to give feedback about this recipe 🥳🥳🥳🥳 So I followed all the instructions and dis a few minor changes. I let my dough sit for more than an Hour. that was 3 hours and it had really risen. Then when I was about to fry them with low medium heat I made them round like you did above, then rolled out each round piece to become flat and insterted a whole in the middle. Oh boy oh wow they were incredible best taste ever. Thanks for the recipe 🎉🎉🎉
You've got a new subscriber, sis, God bless you with your measurements and explanation. I tried it and everyone in my family thinks I'm a professional puff puff maker. Thank you so so much. It came out so so good and yummy. We love it
These look delicious--definitely have to try to make these with some Just Egg and some oat milk as I have a family history of Cancer and need to avoid the Choline in eggs and estrogen in dairy--thanks for posting
In South Africa we call it Magwenya. It can be eaten with pretty much anything like mince curry, polony and cheese or plain. Very tasty and they usually make it bigger
THESE ARE HEAVENLY !! I MADE THESE FOR MY SON, DAUGHTER IN LAW AND GRANDDAUGHTER - THEY LOVE THEM ! WHENEVER THEY VISIT, I MAKE THEM AND THEY ARE DEVOURED QUICKLY..I ALSO MAKE THEM WITH ORANGE, LIME OR LEMON ZEST AS WELL; OR AFTER FRYING THEM I SPRINKLE POWDERED SUGAR ON TOP, OR MAKE CARAMEL SAUCE ON THE SIDE...SO GOOD !! I LIKE TO ROLL MINE IN GRANULATED SUGAR AND CINNAMON OR FIVE SPICE POWDER.... YUM 🥰😃😃😃😃
It looks delicious . I miss vetlkoek. Living in USA different foods from home food. I want to try this recipe. Also fill vetkoek with apricot ,strawberry , fig jams..yummy. thank you for making it so simple to follow...
I just love your recipes and you know I have not been able to cook make anything with Dough and have it turn out for years I used to be able to I was younger but not lately this is the first do that turned out exactly like you are so I'm waiting for the second rising now only would I leave a message and let you know how they turn out thank you so much for your recipe😊
Definitely nice texture, can use a bit more sugar, it’s such a hard dough to deal with lol but it came out really nice and soft and round cute balls :) each ball was 1.6 ounces
I wish we could win a lunch or dinner with this incredible chef!!! It would be fantastic !!! Man, I long to be able to cook this way!!! The meat looks amazing
Cute easy recipe. I would only have one suggestion: that is that you put the object that you used to cut the donuts into 15 pieces into your Amazon list.
In my village we just use flour water yeast sugar and if you want you may add salt and then you leave it to rest then fry it in cooking oil. There you have it beautiful and tasty magwinya (fat cakes)
South African vetkoek without the vanilla. I use an ordinary bread dough. Easy peasy. My family love it with mince curry. Also good with cheese or jam.
Planning to make this for our next get together ( garden party). Will have to practice first . Any ideas on how to make ahead? I plan to fry in fry it in front of our friends then sprinkle with powder sugar or even add some cinnamon sugar or chocolate sauce or make them a little smaller .. do you think these will work ? Thanks
Phil, Thank you for your video, much appreciated. Can I use honey instead of sugar? Also, can I substitute almond flour for multipurpose flour? I have diabetes, so almond flour is better and honey is complex and better. Thank you for leting me know 🙂
Thank u for this easy recipe... Is it sweet enough with 4 tblsp sugar to flour ratio... Since it's not dipped in syrup... It's eaten as a bread etc... 🙏👌💯
