    Thank you for making this video and the previous one on the Genmax. Very informative and confirming my thinking that my next Generator will be that same Genmax

      There's a link in the bio that has the generator, if and when you decide, it's really helps the channel if you use the link! Doesn't cost you a thing!

    I installed a 1/2hp 240v SQ Grundfos soft start well pump and it only draws 5 amps per leg. Start-up doesn't spike the amperage past the 5 amps. The manual recommends 1500 watt for a generator. It also has a voltage range of 150-315 volts. Very highly recommended for running on a generator. I also have a mechanical interlock and turn off all the high load appliances unless I need them. I run my essentials (fridge, 2 freezers, well pump, and heat pump hot water tank) with only a 240v 5000 watt inverter genny, and it works great for my needs.

      When (hopefully never 😁) my well pump goes, I'm DEF gonna get a grundfos with the soft start. Such a good idea.

    Can you tell me if the legs and the wheels are easily removed to make the generator a few inches lower?

    Those are nice. I think the lights would've stayed on if eco throttle had been off. I'd like to get the 10500iet model someday.

    • @JohnWCH
      @JohnWCH  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you're right. It was that gap as the generator spun up that caused the lights to dip. And there were a couple of reasons I didn't get the 10500, however, if you get one, and it performs like this 9000, you're gonna be very happy.

      Nice video. Thanks. I’m considering selling my Wgen9500DF and buy a 9000w inverter just because of the THD alone. And the coolest display 😂. Seriously is a plus to see how much juice is being used straight from the generator.

      @@JohnWCH May I ask why you chose the 9000 over the 10500? I have been toying with this decision. After seeing your vid I think the 9000 will cover my needs. If it didn't the price difference would go a long way toward a second 9000 to run in parallel and have a redundant source of power.

    • @JohnWCH
      @JohnWCH  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ronskeeters4319 1) price. Its about $800 for for wattage i dont need. I did a backof the envelope, with 10% overage and knew i needed to be in the 9-9500w range. My ac is only a 3 ton so i didnt need huge wattage. 10500 is overkill (for the price). If it was cheaper of course i would have considered it. 2) I do not, and will never have, access to Nat Gas so paying for that tri-fuel option is a waste of money.
      That said the 10500 is a NICE unit. I like the inboard battery tender feature. If you get either, you wont be disappointed.

    I have a panel interlock and I turn off the breakers for all the heavy loads before I switch the generator breaker on. Then no heavy loads can come on unless I want them to.

    Just curious after full break in is complete what oil and weight did you use? That break in oil is full synthetic, so you can’t put non synthetic back in right? The owners only says 10W30 says nothing about synthetic.

    You can always get a soft start for the well pump too.

    • @JohnWCH
      @JohnWCH  ปีที่แล้ว

      If your week pump can have one installed on it, I'd recommend it.

    • @intherealworld1188
      @intherealworld1188 ปีที่แล้ว

      What? I was not asking if adding a soft start was a good idea. I was saying adding a soft start to your well pump would prevent the lights from shutting off when the pump engaged. A soft start can be installed on any well pump (weak or not) and will do the exact same thing they do on the HVAC compressors.

    • @JohnWCH
      @JohnWCH  ปีที่แล้ว

      That was SUPPOSED to read "well pump" 😂. No disrespect.
      And no, not all well pumps can have them installed on them. Most, but not all.

    Did you switch the generator to floating bond because your houses panel has the neutral bonded?

    • @JohnWCH
      @JohnWCH  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you're using this (or any generator) as a stand alone unit, you wouldn't switch it. Since I'll never use it like that and only as a house generator, I switched it over to floating.

    I'm a bit concerned about support if I run into issues. Been reading other comments/reviews and some people have been left holding a pile of poo with some Genmax generators with 0 support from either China or US based so-called support. Duromax, or Champion, seem to have better support, which might be worthwhile if I get a lemon delivered.

    • @JohnWCH
      @JohnWCH  ปีที่แล้ว

      get the extended warranty thru Amazon to dispel your apprehension. It's a good unit.

    • @elykk18
      @elykk18 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah so that's the issue. I read the 1-star reviews on amazon for this unit and the slightly more powerful one, and even with the asurion insurance or whatever people are getting nowhere (tough to read cause i would hate to be in their shoes). Plus there are no 'where can i take this for repair' shops in the USA. Honestly this is my only hang-up with this unit, otherwise it seems perfect. Argh. Thanks for the feedback@@JohnWCH

      I didn't need the 2 20 amp 120v outlets on my genny so I installed a switch and outlet combination in it's place. I wired the switch to interrupt the neutral and it can now be used however it's required. On it's bonded, off it's floating.
