    Great video Dave, Just purchased a 2011 Land Rover and will certainly be changing my own oil. Just subscribed to your channel for future video; "Keep them coming"!!!

    Thanks for sharing. It looked a little harder than I thought! 😂 Great information though, and it's definitely possible to change oil on our own. 👊😎

    Should have put it in OFF ROAD height, then you have tons of clearence!! Also there is a heavy ass plate covering this you have to remove first! A skid plate

    Also Gap Diagnostics IID tool will reset any codes or oil change indicators, all that stuff. Pays for its self on day one, or error code one I should say. No dealer rape needed!

    Ready to do my first change. Did not know I can't reset the the oil clock. Between that and the no dipstick I'm starting to wonder about the engineering of this engine. Has nobody come up with an aftermarket cable type dipstick that can be slid down into that block yet ? Jeesh what a sketchy system

    Great video but it would be a big help if you had given the wrench sizes!!

      Never worried about either and nothing has ever happened. If it is leaking a little then just tighten it up more

    I have a 2011 range rover hse. Is there an alert for the oil life of the vehicle. Like something that alerts you when it's time for a oil change?

      there is not.

    Why is everybody else doing the uber-Cheesy vacuum method???...

    • @smhri
      @smhri 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s cleaner and you don’t have to get under the car.

    • @REEVES636
      @REEVES636 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      because that is the correct way to do it lol

    • @keithlawson7469

      Alkemy Labs please elaborate on how the vacuum method is the correct way?

    • @len9483
      @len9483 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@REEVES636 I still don't know why the vacuum is better. Seems more oil would be drained through the drain hole. I have the 2012 Range Rover HSE Supercharged. I would like to do it the drain plug method. Any pros and cons?

    • @REEVES636
      @REEVES636 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@len9483 opposite, the vacuum tube reaches the bottom of the oil sump, thus pulling out ALL oil. I have tested both ways on my 5.0 and the vacuum works best, plus that's the way they designed it to work. The comment above "uber-cheesy" is an uneducated comment.

    5w20 seems a little too thin dont you think?

    • @REEVES636
      @REEVES636 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      the 5.0 requires this oil per spec, a thicker oil may not work as well with the engine clearances and the way it is setup
