In CoP, they are covered in blistering pimples and swarmed by flies, implying that they are literally rotting alive. Imagine being forced to walk around by an unknown force while having open wounds and being unable to treat them

I like that they showed what disarmed zombified stalkers act like.
Since the zombie voices are not subtitled, I always thought it was gibberish. Bro now I can't even kill zombies.
I do not speak any Russian but have been playing stalker for over several years. Now I know what they mean it certainly makes the game that much more immersive with the lore.
Half Life 2 have zombies that at first glance speak gibberish, but if you play the voices backwards, they actually speak real words.
You should tho. In Stalker 2 most stalkers says they want a quick death instead of being zombified

I used to headshot and pass them and i saw them as easy enemies, but now they are most hard enemies to kill for me. All words stucked in my throat.

The echoy psy-radiation sound effect is perfect. You IMMEDIATELY know that you're someplace you're not supposed to be. Very fight or flight triggering.
Yeah I never gave the zombies much thought at first. It was my Clear Sky play through, yantar.
Too many voice lines at the beginning but when the fighting was over I was the last standing. The last one was bleeding out and muttered something.
As I shot it to finish it off, he called for his mom.... Got me good that did I had to pause for a bit

With the things some of the zombies say about their families outside the zone i often wonder if in the stalker universe there are any projects/ groups dedicated to identifying all the human remains found in the zone. So many people go to the zone and are swallowed by the black hole that it can be, there's often so many bodies sometimes reduced to mere bones or other fates such condemned to live shamble around as a zombie or turn into a snork it makes me ponder how many families outside the zone are missing loved ones that just vanished into the zone for a quick buck.
Look at what happening in Ukraine right now. A lot of bodies(tens of thousands or even more) wouldn't ever be recognized. There is like 200k mia from ukr side only
This is why they shouldn't cut the original zombie concept, instead rework it, as these zombified stalker regress into a worst stage if they manages to survive long enough, regression into melee only zombie, that talks in their most distance memory, that being of their mothers.
Remade it's so that, zombified stalker are weaker, easier to knock down, and finish up with a headshot where zombie stalker can only be kills with a shot in the head, and can only get knock down with shotgun, indicates the body had lost most of their pain reaction function.
The OG lore implied that the X Project went FUBAR so hard, it zombified the people from the towns around it, be it grown ups (which will get the fate of being a "citizen" zombie) and even kids (which, arguably, is a fate worse than death in more than just one way to think about it).
But yeah, if to take in the "they deteriorate" logic up to extreme - we get those cut zombies.
@jabroniyumerale6204 at this points all the original zombies from back went probably decays aways already, it's make little sense for there to be anyone left.
Irl, most of the death isn't due to the radiation, but the trauma of the experience.
i love how some voice lines are actually a nod towards the movie (stalker 1979), things like this being the last time and getting medicine for the daughter, then again these may also be references to the novel but i haven't read it (yet)
For those who are confused by the subtitles of what the zombified stalkers say
SoC clear sky and call of prypiat are all voice acted Russian hence why I can understand clearly what they say
Stalker 2 is voice acted in Ukrainian since I cant understand some words but others like "Help me" but other words just sound like gibberish paired with the broken speech of zombified stalkers
The saddest thing in the stalker universe
Great video, props for making it. I'm still pretty new to Stalker games, "only" played the new Stalker 2 for about 130 hours. But these zombified stalkers always make me feel something when encounter them. And one of my first thoughts when watching this video was the idea of this happening in real life. That seems so unimaginably heartbreaking. Stalker 2 is an amazing game overall and would be much better without continuing bugs and especially crashes.

2:32 the hesitation to kill… It speaks so much, that you must kill them to end their suffering, even though you know they’re still alive in their body… These old stalker games did world building so well..

One if my favorite moments from S2 was wandering into the tunnels where Goodwin tried desperately to save his friend as he decayed into a zombie. I first found the PDA, read it, then heard the horrible crying of the zombified friend…

These were once father's, brothers and friends in a hallow shell that used to be themselves that they still live in they call out for their spouses and mothers and children but to no avail, It truly breaks my heart I cried ngl because the process is irreversible.

These are probably one of the saddest version of zombies ever created. Because all other shows/games/movies use virus that transforms people into one.
But here, their brain is just fried. There was no virus, nothing. They are basically people with 95% of their memory erased.
But what a sad situation those poor Stalkers live in. :(
This is why I sided with The Ward and destroyed the zone. I don't care how many times an emission fried Scar's brain, his eagerness to use the psi-emitters is inexcusable.

Worst thing about all of this is that those zombified-phrases are probably real to some degree. It's very possible that some young guy on World War 2 or Iraq went through that shit.

@@renathy they have voice lines asking for rations and that they are hungry, I assume find it hard to get food now
Maybe some still have the instinct to feed, but I doubt they'll last long in the Zone. They become victims of the mutants who hunt them. They can't even pull their pants down when they have to "do their job". They must be very stinky, their bodies must be rotting alive.
With whatever food they get their cold hands on, be it genuine rations and food, the dead body of a mutant or wildlife, or the corpse of a stalker they just killed. And they drink whatever source of water they can, which, in the zone is not the best idea. The cut Zombies from the OG triology had a lore blurb that they could also sometimes enter a dormant state, slow down their metabolism and more or less go into a pretend-to-be-dead comatose state, looking like a corpse until something, or someone disturbs them.
You can find food in their Inventory and there are Idle animations of them eating at a campfire. They may be zombified but still follow their instincts

The heart breaking fate of zombified stalkers is that they are prolly 110€ short.
i have an very interesting video Idea, there is an stalker appearing in clear sky which is named heremit, he is also appearing in stalker 2 he leaves 3 notes in the zone, one stash is in the burned forest, the other one i cant remember, his body is found in the Dead Valley on the way to the Generators, very interesting i did an research and only found one video about that in russian maybe you can make a video about that very interesting!
