I am so grateful that my school is in state and public. One year, I did a 5 year program, where I took some MSW classes in my senior BSW year, and did the advanced year only in the MSW program - cost me just over $17k! I can't believe other schools are double or triple! I was part of a speciality Cohort I applied to that came with $10k and did an assistantship to pay the rest! There is money - most schools are stingy! 😂 My mottos is to ask and the worst they can say is 'no'! Lol
Thank you for being real and raw. I appreciate it. I’m looking into attending a local college for a BSW, however I’m nearly 40 and I work a full time job to support my family. I want to help people, and this has been on my heart to do for years. I wish I had gone when I was younger and didn’t have kids, but I also wasn’t 100% certain I’d stick with it. I didn’t have the motivation to get through it, but I think I’m finally where I am motivated to do this.
I start my MSW in the fall and your videos have been so helpful to me!! I'm definitely most nervous about my internships and the fact that my program chooses for us.. But your videos have helped me stay excited for what's to come!☺
I’m so glad these vids have very much found their target audience!!! congrats on the beginning of your MSW journey!! if you need any further help or encouragement from me, please never hesitate to reach out :) both my field placements were entirely chosen for me & I absolutely loved both of them! best of luck 💗
I agree!! Doing my MSW online, I missed the community that you have with doing an on-campus program! I also didn't go to graduation, so it felt weird, lol like did I even graduate 😂
Hello Anna, I appreciate your videos so much! I will hopefully be starting my online MSW program beginning May 2023. Im currently gathering all the application requirements and shuffling ideas for the research paper I have to write (not too excited about that). However, your insight has given me a bit of relief since its a realistic perspective of what to expect once I do begin. I know you mentioned you had a BSW. Did you have to write any type of writing sample or research paper in the application portion? If so, what advise do you have for the research paper? Also, would you be able to elaborate on what the work load looked like? Thanks again!
I start grad school today ! I’m doing the one year program at Cal State San Bernardino….I love your videos I just graduated from Cal state Los Angeles last Friday with my BSW
that’s so exciting! you’re about exactly where I was at a year ago this time. you’ll blink & it’ll be done 🙈 best of luck! if there’s every anything I can help with, don’t hesitate to reach out!
@@IrresistibleArtBySalisha it went by super fast ! I graduated in May. I am working working at a community based mental health clinic as an associate therapist 🙌
mine was mostly learning about specific policies and how they affect people & the work we do. there was a project as well where we planned a macro intervention of sorts kind of like a plan of action if we wanted to advocate for policy change. wasn't too treacherous!! I took my policy class first so august-october 2021 vlogs would talk more about it!
I was applying straight through COVID so a lot of programs were kinda funky/figuring things out. I don’t remember GSU specifically but I think they may have paused field placements or something like that where I didn’t want to enter their program at that uncertain time!

look at the FELS programs for your states! In NC, they give you $10,000 toward your MSW in exchange for 1 year of service in NC

How was your experience with Policy class? I would like an insight on what to expect.

@@AnnaBea Thank you for your response. , Policy will be my first class, I will check out your video about your experience.
