    I created a shutdown fund to weather these crazy times. Just put $50 away every paycheck, and then you will be covered. It grew large enough to use it as my retirement vacation fund.

    • @MountainRancher

I remember them wanting us to use our vacation time if the contract didn't give us enough hours for the month. They also underpay you. I'm grateful to use that place as a stepping stone for something better but there was no way they were gonna force me to use my vacation because they didn't properly allocate hours in the budget for that month

    I've been civil service for almost 19 years and only experienced shutdowns twice. First time, I was essential, and the second i wasn't. Both times, we were paid after the shutdown. Sequestration was another story, and we were required to take leave without pay. I'm not concerned about a shutdown any time soon.

    I thought the answer to her original question would be "yes" but Dave answered "no" and told her to pile up cash. I don't understand what the difference is between increasing her starter emergency fund and piling up cash. Wouldn't the starter emergency fund in a savings account be considered cash as well?

    • @MichaelAnderson-wk1no
      @MichaelAnderson-wk1no ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think he just wanted to differentiate between pausing the baby steps temporarily and increasing the starter emergency fund. He would not recommend permanently increasing the starter emergency fund, but he WOULD say it's okay under certain circumstances to pause the steps to pile up cash (in a savings account), and then once you're out of the "storm", dump that cash back on to the debt or whatever baby step you're currently working on.

      @GenX X No one didn't start saying essential until CNN etc start saying it. They are changing how people speak/thought process. It's important to have your PPE. hand santize on you. Look at all the words and phrases you're no longer can't say because it racist, hate speech, etc. There's two books coming out in 2024 that will change how you talk in the work environment because it hurts people feeling or remember of the past. I don't need to read the package on toilet paper saying it's essential. Lol, when it common sense.. I don't need to read a sales paper saying medication, etc, is essential. It's all a marketing tool to get people to buy, etc.

      No, she’s just stressed out because Dave constantly cuts her off. He should of encouraged her more and not be adding to that anxiety he already caused her. She looks like she has panic attacks to even come to work (same like Ken).

      @@rainacherienne1010 That could be it! She looked off at the beginning of the video. Ken looks like he's coked up sometimes the way he grinds his teeth, cool guy though.
