Dave is right about “debt”. I’m sick and tired of the monthly payments, i feel like I lost my freedom. I recently paid off 3 credit cards $5753, I have one debt remaining $6k to go and I will be completely free. Never again will I put myself in this mess!!!

As a 20 year old, I am fortunate that I’ve found this community so early on. I hustled all throughout high school, and applied to 80+ scholarships. I now have my BSN program all paid for and will be completely debt free when I graduate!

I’m a RN, I chose a small community college and paid 2k a semester.. total 8k. My Bachelors I took online while working and cost me 7k. It does not matter where you graduate, I never been asked by employers. I do travel nursing in many hospitals and you can’t tell what school anyone went to. Don’t get loans and try to chose a cheap school then study hard when you’re in (we all take the same test at the end).
I was thinking why doesnt she just go to her local community college? Why doesnt she wanna go to Iowa? Too bad she choose ecology instead of nursing when she had the $
@@jasminesuarez8358 some community colleges have waitlist of a couple of years. These accelerated programs let you start right there and then. As a nursing student it’s extremely hard to get into some of these programs even if you do have a high GPA.

Michael Blasius the biggest difference is that a house appreciates while cars and other things depreciate. Most people can’t buy a house with cash and would not listen to Dave anyways about a home loan. School loans and car loans and especially credit cards are just plain stupid.

When you buy a home at the height , like 2017 till now, you will lose money and your downpayment is eaten up by the falling market. Buy in 2022 in non judicial foreclosure state and end 2022 on judicial foreclosure state.

A L-J Oh me, me, me, I’ll answer-community college first, transfer to a state school. Join the military. Get an employer to pay. Get a marketable degree and the loans don’t even matter. Don’t live on campus and go in debt to live in a 300sqft room for years. Don’t pay for overpriced meal plans. I could keep going but I’m sure we all knew this, right? Riiiiight?

BadMannerKorea Yep!! My husband did 2 years at a community college, then transferred to a major university and finished his bachelor’s degree. His loans were significantly less and we’re debt free at 30!!

@@BadMannerKorea i agree with joining the military. Dropped out of college after my second year, joined the air force, paid my 50k debt after 4 years in the air force. Was an electrician in the air force, am out of the air force now and am in an electrician union making 35 dollars an hour plus benefits. Salary goes up to 50 dollars after 5-10 years experience too.and becoming a master electrician. And im getting my master's currently too for free part-time

Christopher Shank It’s a trap door if you think a graduate degree is worth 80k. I mean, technically it is over a lifetime, but you didn’t have to pay 80k. That’s entirely your fault, and there are plenty of people who get graduate degrees for way cheaper or go into so little debt it’s obviously worth it.
Good call. I’m only pursuing my graduate degree because most of it is paid for and I got a few scholarships to help pay for it all. Otherwise i wouldn’t had done it,

I'm also trying to be a nurse with a bachelors already in hand. I discovered that going to my community college to get my associates in nursing is only 12k total!! I can cash flow it and it will only take one semester longer than accelerated bsn. Then I can get my bsn in 9 months, which many hospitals will pay for. Just an idea.

The good news about paying college in cash is tax credits!!!! You can collect $2500 tax credit per year for up to 4 years. If you need it for longer there is a $2000 tax credit which is good forever. You can't claim both, but it saves some money. Just make sure to keep your receipts for text books. You college should send you a form around tax time.
I was a CNA for a couple of years while saving up to go to LVN school. I worked as an LVN while going to RN school and I worked as an RN before getting a bachelors in nursing. No student loans, no debt. It’s possible.
My journey too.. then went to grad school and took a loan still paying on it... never never again would I advise anyone to take Student Loans...
LPN-RN bridge programs are designed for people who are working as LPNs. Hence the name. That's entirely different than a second bachelor accelerated BSN program. Many of them require a commitment not to work while in the program. The fail rate in those cases is practically 💯

Listen, Patty, some hospitals will pay for your degree in nursing if you commit to working for them for a short while during and/or after. They are all over the internet begging for nurses. Search for one in your city, specially small towns in Iowa!!! You have plenty of time before September.

you guys are so good. we’ve been diggin out of our debt (student loans) for 10 years. young people, u have energy, no children and health. do it the hard way now so u can rest easy later in life.
My mom went back to school in the health field at the age of 50. She got a full scholarship from the Veteran's Administration including a stipend. In exchange, she worked for them for a year afterwards. New career after staying home with kids for 15 years and no debt.
She has lots of choices. She doesn't have to go to that school.
If she’s doing an accelerated program, she wants to acquire a nursing degree asap. There are backlogs and waiting list for nursing schools. Some schools up to 2 years and I have had students leave states for a quick acceptance.

@@nicolevicedo792 Wrong - she can get started at almost any community college. Here in little Sioux City, IA, we have two colleges and a community college offering nursing programs. The point is that she does not HAVE to go into debt. But I'm sure she won't listen.
I respect Dave and Chris! I am so happy that he also mentioned the 32-year-old version of the current individual. That hit me! The story about the lady who had the sickly child and was unable to stay home with her child because of student loan debt also hit me hard.

As someone who has paid into a 529 plan on a monthly basis for 7 years on behalf of my kids, I will one day make sure my kids are aware of the sacrifice that was made and the importance of getting the education piece right the first time. It's too important to get this right the first time, not use grad school as a way to course correct.
@Grimmy Rippy No, they absolutely should not have. Trying to predict what degrees are going to have the best ROI a minimum of 5 years down the line is a fool's errand. You simply don't know what that's going to be, a job that appears to pay well now may well see an oversupply of applicants several years down the road.
What's more, with a few exceptions, employers really don't care much about what your degree is in. Sure, for things like legal or medical work there may be licensing requirements that dictate what sort of education that applicant needs, but most jobs aren't like that.

Here in the Philippines, the educational system is quite challenged. The consolation is student loans are not the norm.
I was in college for about an year for IT. I was going through classes and felt like what's the point if I have to go in to debt to make money and have a good life. So I started to talk to people in the industry and asked them what do they look for when they are hiring which they said experience and knowledge. So I postponed college for about an year and took an low level entry job for fixing computers for minimum wage. That job gave me insight of the job market. Did bunch of It training and didn't go back to college. 20 years later now I'm making 6 figure salary in a Fortune 500 company. No Student Loans!!!

The reason college is so expensive is because the money is so easy to get via loan. If they made it hard they would have to lower tuition rates. Look at all the colleges there are now vs 30-40 yrs ago. It's because the money is so easy to get.

Around 1995, my nephew was going to West Coast University and he couldn’t finish his degree there because they closed down. I left California in 2003, so the I stand corrected. My father and nephew loved the school. I have no idea how it is now.
My mom went to college for nursing at 30 years old, and my parents took out students loans to pay for it....they are still paying off her loans. She is 50 now!!

Some of the commenters here do not realize that the wage earnings do not catch up past daily living expenses until you are older. And you add a monthly out go for a $100k student loan debt it restricts you to the point of waiting until you are older and making that above average income to be able to start chucking away at that debt. That's without sacrificing and following the baby steps.

When I worked for a hospital, they paid you to go to school and become a nurse...and then you had to work for them for a number of years. Might be an option?

Accelerated nursing programs are 12-18 months. To complete an RN and then online BSN program would likely take 4 years. That's a huge opportunity cost of not just lost salary, but lost years of your life.

You can see the fear on their faces when they talk about debt. Not many people understand it's a trap. Got my mom struggling pretty bad because of it. And she'd probably be way better off if she never had credit cards.
I wish I had known about Dave in college before I got student loans. I was encouraged by my mom and my college to take them out... and I don’t use my degree. 90% of the time, college is a complete SCAM.
I’m a nurse, and Dave is RIGHT. I graduated with 50k loan, it can certainly be done it differently.
I'm a community college, 2 year ADN Registered Nurse. It cost 5k. I make 140k a year as a workers comp field case manager, I work from home. They work me like a rented mule, but my feet don't hurt.

This one hit home for me. I was planning to go to Grad school for physical therapy. I took a gap year out of fear to apply. Ended up getting my bills for my undergrad student loan. Reality hit. Now when I saw those programs for 70,000 a year the money seemed more real. I’m sooo glad God put the fear in me to not be too hasty.
So where do you end up working?
This was one of my favorite clips in a long time on the show. I started listing to Dave in about 2014. I had just graduated from university and I started to think what I should do with the money from my first "real" job. I had 42k in student loan debt and I made 24k at the time (I was only an intern and that went up significantly 2 years later). My wife made about 20k. Because I started listening to Dave, we were able to pay off our student loans in just under 2 years through deep sacrifice. Both of us made 10-12 bucks an hour the whole time too.
One thing that I like about Dave is that he believes in his viewers. He says "you can do this" and nowadays you hear people that want student loan forgiveness because they THINK they can't pay the loans off. All my friends that were dining out in restaurants, going on vacation, and having a great time despite having students loans would benefit from the loan forgiveness. I, however, would not get those 2 years of deep sacrifice back (which believe me were pretty much 2 years of lost life). Forgiveness punishes the people who lost life to do what pretty much everyone could do if they had discipline. We made income you could make at friggin Walmart at the time and still got it done. You can do it too!
I wish I would have discovered Dave before I got all that debt, but he helped me clean it up. Because of him, and our own hard work, she is now a stay at home mom and we have no debt. Thanks Dave!
I'm in nursing school, in an accelerated program, finishing up in a few weeks. We started with 50 students. Of the original 50, only 10 are still in my class. The other 40 either dropped out (majority) or are held back at least 1 term (about 10 or so people). No one who made it this far worked full time, and everyone who worked full time is either gone or held back significantly. Moral of the story: if you think you're going to work full time while in nursing school, you've got a huge percent chance of failing. This isn't some typical degree that you can study an hour or two per day and be fine.
Keith P thank you! I know a lot of people who suffered academically while in nursing school because they worked . Her best bet is to focus exclusively on her studies and when she graduates find a job quickly and attack her debt.

My full time job WAS nursing school!! No way could I have worked at anything besides STUDYING!! 😵💫 I hope she didn’t take that loan.
When I got accepted into the bachelors of nursing program, I had to sign a contract stating that I could not work while doing my clinicals.
That’s exactly why I couldn’t make nursing work. They make it so damn difficult!

Girl, don't do it! I so badly wanted to do an accelerated second degree BSN program too. I swallowed my pride and went to a community college in Orange County. I didn't pay a penny for my degree through scholarships and free tuition. Hospitals will hire you with an ADN and will pay for your BSN. It feels really good not having any debt especially when talking to nurses 5+ years in who are still paying off their loans. My husband also did the same thing with his law degree-not a fancy school but no debt! It feels good!
I also thought she was going to go and get in debt. The only thing making me wonder if she will listen is that SHE CALLED, so there’s a voice inside her head telling her this is a bad idea and you guys agreed with that voice. I think there’s hope 🤞🏼

Grant's and scholarships are need based. Why 99% of the folks dont get any? If this was the case, we wouldnt have 1.6 trillion dollars student loan debt crisis

MSN-FNP here just with less than 20k in loans, but i have paid it down to 7k now. She needs to get a CNA license, work prn and go to Nursing school, at least to get that 5k down to maybe 40k.
@@dumdumdugan1940 Just because it goes unclaimed, doesn't mean that it's available for a specific student. As a White man, I couldn't even apply for most of the scholarships and grants that were available. The ones that were available were incredibly competitive as they were open to everybody.

I have a relative who got a Master's in Occupational Therapy. She was 33 when she got it. It took her until she was 50 to pay it off. She could have paid it off sooner, for sure. But that's not what happens. When people get used to being in debt, they just start treating it as normal. They typically don't attack it and pay it off quickly.
Parents push you to go to college but doesn’t place any $$$ in hand or even discuss entrepreneurship goals. I’m ready for mine to enter adulthood debt Free!!
True when I was 16 my Mom told me, if you want to go to college you have to pay for it. How does a 16 year old save for college?
Andrea Thompson.. A 16 yr old pays for college by earning great grades, apply and get multiple scholarships/grants/internship and working. It’s hard work but it’s worth it depending on ur direction u are trying to go to. Or learn a trade and read book on business and be an entrepreneur. “Debt-free Degree” -Anthony O’Neal. Plan for your future, don’t just show up. Been there done stupid, learn my lesson.
Unless you're from a rich family, you can't assume your parents are going to hold your hand to success. You are your best and only career counselor.
57 year old Patty here. I took out student loans at age 25 to go to nursing school. I am now long debt free but I wish somebody had given me this advice at age 25.
I borrowed 14k for undergraduate (lived on campus) and worked 32 hours + 60 hours summer time. I borrowed 35k for graduate school privately (lived with my parents). I worked full-time during graduate school and went night school for 2 years to avoid borrowing more debt. Then disciplined myself and paid it off 52k (interest including) in 2.7 years with a salary of 39k plus doing surveys and side hustle jobs. It’s okay to borrow only if you can get support and find a way to make it work. I borrowed because I had no choice. I tried scholarships and got denied but I worked very hard to pay off my school and I’m proud that I did what I needed to do to survive.
Absolutely miss the combination of Dave and Chris on this show. Really Hope Chris is doing well. They are like the uncles who give you great advice. Dave’s method may be tough but it works. Thank you Dave and Chris and the Ramsey show family

It's not about cheap, it's about getting someone else to pay for it. Lots of grants and scholarships available, and staying in the area eliminates room and board.

My ex thinks this way.. he has everything new.. new cars new 300K house bc he makes six figures... he brags about it too lol... then he told my 17 yr old daughter he’s going to finance her first car and she’s to make monthly payments to him!!! She only makes $400 a month!! 😳. I can’t believe he’s going to try put her in debt too! Fortunately I talked her out of it after a lot of arguments and tears 😣.
It’s not that hard if you know who you are and what the world is. Why give the world, which could care less about you and your soul, ANY real estate in your mind. I found a perfectly usable Keurig in the dumpster for my roommates. I saved them $70! I buy mostly used clothes and household items on eBay, OfferUp, and Mercari. I’m helping out my fellow American buy getting rid of something he or she no longer needs and helping me progress. But again, going into debt to buy stuff IS NOT THE SAME as going into debt to receive a necessary, legitimate education. The only way to change the system is to have a government mandate that limits the cost colleges and universities are allowed to charge their students. But this is Shamerica and money is god, so it’s unlikely to happen.
You can get a RN Associates degree in 3 years in Las Vegas at the College of Southern Nevada. If you qualify for a Pell Grant, you can likely pay for your entire degree with it. The whole degree costs about $10k.
@Johnny Five Move there, work for a year and establish residency, then go to school. What you earn should cover that tuition.
What I hear in her story is that she wants a nursing degree for the increase in money and possibly the "glory of being a nurse". After a career in nursing for 39 years, most of it in ICU, I can tell you it's very hard work. In my experience, either those who did it for the money usually left to find something easier or they made lousy nurses. Nursing has to be a calling.
I think because her parents fund her first degree, they should have made sure she pick a good career to get a degree in that's going make her some money... And all of this could have been avoided.

@@jimroscovius Spoken like somebody that doesn't know what they're talking about. Few employers care what the degree is in, they just want you to have a degree. Unless there's a licensing requirement that tells them that they need a specific degree, they mostly just care that you've got one.
There's a ton of elitists out there that like to make fun of other degrees as being worthless, but that's usually not the case. Liberal Arts degrees in particular that arrogant people like to go after are some of the most useful degrees that you can get in the modern economy where you might need to retrain multiple times over the course of a career.
@@SmallSpoonBrigade You seem to be quite out of touch with the world. Liberal Arts degree for the most part are worthless. Why you ask? Well supply and demand. And not every job is just looking that you have a degree. It's actually quite the opposite, employers look for people that have distinguished themselves, not just people who have a degree.

In many cases that don’t require special background and education, that’s sufficient, but in reality, such a role doesn’t require any post-high school formal education, either, so supply and demand weigh heavily into that: many that piece of paper is only useful to open up many potential employers to hiring you.
Now, if you get yourself educated in STEM or something else that does require a degree, or even are self-taught (some things are more viable than others) supply and demand makes you potentially much more valuable, assuming you don’t choose poorly.
Gender studies degrees only have as much value as the number of careers and their jobs that are available to use that particular training, which really devolves down to a role where you’re preaching to the choir. But, most of those roles are purely in academia, so your teachers are your competition, so how’s that working out? For most, that’s a liability instead of a degree: a worthwhile degree starts out as an asset and appreciates with time and effort, having a good ROI. The only people that can afford to consider a gender studies degree are those that don’t need to earn a living in the first place. If they can’t pay for the entire expenses out of pocket before or as they take it, they won’t be able to afford to pay off the school loans, because their best bet will be working as a barista and telling people “I’ve got this gender studies degree, I’m so educated, let’s talk while I make your drink!” (And of course, many people just want their drink ASAP, instead of waiting to speak to a sap).
I am a nurse and 47,000 is toooooo much. It’s hard work and they’re competitive, but go to the local community or local university. I chose to do an associate first, and complete my bachelors after, of which I pay out of pocket and the hospital I work at reimburses me completely. Essentially my education is free , but it takes a little longer and the classes are tough. The harder road is less expensive without debt. I’m a registered nurse working in a level 2trauma icu with a critical care certification that the company paid for. I’m telling you so you don’t get scammed. Good luck😊💕

Once I finished I started paying off debts before I even knew who Dave Ramsey was, I’ve paid off over 12k this year, and all I have left to tackle are my student loans. Gazelle intensity, I’m planning to pay half of them off this year. Social life? Never met her. Second job? New best friend.
I agree with them. I had 80K of student loans and STILL haven’t used my degrees. I paid it off, but now I am behind in LIFE.

See Dave hit the button on the desk? I'm sure his producer is in his ear telling him when to hang it up. They probably don't hang up on people still on the line though, probably just switches them to a different person unless the person on the line hangs up first.
Although he muted me, I didn’t hang up until he stopped talking to me as a guest.
As a caller you hear the show the entire time, you are just muted.
I think they must tell them upfront that at some point during the call they will be muted, but to hang on and keep listening to everything that's being said about their case. Plus someone is going to pick up and get their information so resources can be arranged.
But at the same time you're often seen as worthless to most employers without any degree at all..
Dave is a saviour. He actually cares. He’s saving people from debt , depression and even possibly suicide. I was not the best saver but I avoided debt but I have many friends that are in debt they rely on substances and other things to cope.
"I HAVE to have debt" = I've only spent a few minutes thinking about the possibilities and am not wiling to cut my lifestyle.

If I were sitting down with this 25-year-old, chatting for 30 minutes, I guarantee we'd figure out how to get her thru school debt free....IF she's willing to work for it and IF she's willing to make some reasonable sacrifices.

When Dave said the entire culture has lost their minds, he is absolutely right! They jump from one career to the next chasing this big three figure salary in their minds. Little do they know, you have to work hard and earn that salary. It's not handled to you just because you have a degree. I work with so many people fresh out of college and expect lots of money without doing any work to earn their paycheck. Just like Patty, they dont like to listen to us "old heads" when we are trying to steer them in the right direction.
It's sad but true: 'the perfect plan never happened'. This is true to my life as I now have to face paying off my student loans.

I am so happy I went to school and took a student loan instead of waiting to go to school. I ended up graduating at 22 with a good paying job, and paid back my student loan in about 6 months of working.
Instead of having to take 2-3 years working minimum wage to pay for my schooling.
Not saying student loans are always a good idea. But if have a plan and weighed the risks. I don't see anything wrong with it. In my case it made me way better off financially.
i agree that in a case like yours where you took out a relatively small student loan with a pretty good paying degree student loans aren't that bad unfortunately as far as student loans go you are a very small minority. for the vast majority of people dave ramsey's advice is the best option and when he starts making exceptions for people like you other people that shouldn't get student loans start rationalizing that it's okay for them to get student loans too. there's also the risk you have to consider where even in a case like yours something may happen where you don't graduate college and then you've got student loans and years of working to get a degree and nothing to show for it.
It worked out for you because you limited the amount you borrowed to the bare minimum, you picked a viable degree program that paid off immediately, and you also relentlessly attacked paying the money back right away until you paid it off. Most people are wasteful and borrow way more than they can afford, and then because they are overwhelmed they back burner this debt and it becomes a terrible curse on their lives and finances. But good for you!
I like Dave's idea of calling Health Care Companies, to see if they have programs to help pay for nursing school.

Just make sure the accelerated program is legit. My friend just got scammed. She is a LPN and I think she signed up for the program online. What they don't tell you is that you also need to fulfill clinical hours in order to get fully licensed as a RN, at least in my state: I don't know how it is in other states. I hope this lady did her research! Please don't get scammed like my friend did!
CEDL4072 if she is an LPN there’s no way she didn’t know she needs clinical hours to bridge to an RN unless your friend is stupid. Every single bridge program in the United States requires clinical hours.
I would be scared to have a nurse that had not fulfilled clinical hours lol!
Every RN I know had to do clinicals. I wouldn’t want an RN to touch me without some experience.
There are scam programs that arent accredited. I would make sure whatever program is fully accredited.

$50k a year would be madness, but $50k for the entire degree isn't likely a problem. I've regularly seen hospitals advertising significant signing bonuses to nurses that are willing to work for them. Chances are that the $50k could be paid off in a couple years tops if she really gets on it.
Obviously, that assumes that she can't get any scholarships or grant money. If she applies for several every day, she can probably get it down even more.

I went to nursing school but to a local school and it was less than $8,000. I would avoid out of state colleges because the tuition can be almost doubled in price. Highly recommend staying LOCAL...!!! Like the gentlemen’s say, look for scholarships and/or work for a hospital. The hospital will even give you a sign-in bonus. I have my degree and owe $0...!!! Best of luck!
Many community colleges offer nursing programs. That is what I would be going for instead of moving to Iowa.

I believe he absolutely correct I went to a community college and got my AS and then went back to that same community college got my BSN all free .. well not really free the BSN was 8000 I pay cause I already had my license and I was making more than enough. Now as far as grad school so far am processing how we going get that done as well . I refuse loans
how long did it take. the accelerated program is like 15 months and prolly 20 if including pre reqs. is the aa stuff you did transferable to the bsn upper divs?
Road To A Million well the AS is two years and the bsn is 1 year and half if you have prior pre requisite.. you don’t have to rush to do the bsn cause you can get your license with your AS and then some hospital pay for the bsn but if not you going be making your own money you can pay for that but go to a community college it’s only around 8 thousand and it’s online and it’s great

It's so disheartening to listen to this. All that scholarship and grandparents money wasted on a useless degree. Just to come out making $15/hour at a service job. I feel like this is so many college kids. Yes it's great to have dreams but you also have to be practical about the real world and can't just go for random degrees. I remember having the same conversation with my cousin when she was in college and she was studying architecture. All i said was why? And told her it was probably a better idea to get a degree for something more in demand. She now works in an eye doctor office. I really wish people would just go to community college if they don't truly know what they want to do, you at least won't come out with mountains of debt.
architecture is a great career if you know what you're doing. with any career it's about who you know. if u don't speak Spanish you're SOL but that's a whole other discussion. what's wrong with working at an eye doctor office

Nursing school in Seattle, a very expensive city, is $10k total. Somehow she found a program in dirt cheap Iowa that's over 4 times more expensive.

I took $50,000 in loans to complete medical school. Paid them off in a year after I was done. No regrets and would do it again. If I did it over again I might have worked a bit more in other fields as it is bizarre to go from making nothing to making 6 figures, I think the experience of having a low paying job has some value beyond the money.
Yes! Paid my 48k from an accelerated program in two years by doing the work. You just have to want it. Problem is so many people get caught up having social lives, driving fancy cars, and not wanting to pay it off “just yet”

From my experience as a nurse. In college it is such an asset to get a job while in school in your field. Most retail.,fashion, waitresses were in it for the future dollars they think they will make. Crazy. You having a passion for it is the answer and see what it is going to encounter first.

im months away from graduating with my accounting degree. 25k in debt by the end. but before i was making $10/hr for years. after graduating ill be making 45k to start and more after a few years every year after for the next 30+ years. 25k is nothing to raise my earning potential that much. ill have the loan paid off in 5 years or less
With the economy the way it is with many companies going out of business, and you being fresh out of school, there will be a glut of experienced accountants available for all the demands: unless they’re looking for a cheaper, younger replacement, I’d wager your bargaining position isn’t nearly as strong as you think it is.
And, you’re in debt during the biggest economic downturn since the Great Depression.
You’ve got some hard math to work towards, don’t be overconfident.
Only problem is if u can’t find an accounting job right away? Times r different since u started. Jobs r freezing up. Thus community college n transfer. Cash only. Same dream but will take longer to get there. But it’s good to play it safe.
If you can work... If you get in a car accident today and cannot handle numbers after you wake up then what? If you have no debt it is much easier to handle life no matter the curveballs. A friend was doing great and headed towards a career and marriage when suddenly had an autoimmune disease kick in and lost his ability to work and his fiancee walked away as a life of having to work full time while her husband has to pull in disability was not the life she was confident in.
Congrats! It'll be well worth the debt, might even be the best investment in your life.
Patty, if you're reading this - before you go into training for a care related job, join a local care work company who care for clients in their homes. You'll meet all kinds of people, learn so much more than any text book or course can teach you and work alongside community nurses who can give you an honest representation of what the study and work entails. You may decide to work in care in another capacity, just get stuck in somewhere and see how you mentally and physically feel working in that field. Praying God helps you in your decision xx

I needed to hear this. I’m in a doctoral program now and my wife is going to school to be a nurse. It’s crazy because we are having to live like we’re poor in hope for a better tomorrow. Even though it’s difficult I’m glad I decided to pay everything instead on taking out a loan that would hurt us in the long run.
Dave is so right it applies not just through money borrowed but also materials possessions that you don't use. Its like you have to pay back what you owe and also don't use.
