  • With the weather changing and gradually getting hotter each day I start to introduce some of the australian species back in the aviary. In this episode I release some diamond firetails with the hopes of forming a new pair.

    The red Robbie singing in the background along with the sound of the waterfall just saturates my soul with peace as I take on the beauty of these little beautiful little birds living in a wonderful outdoor aviary paradise!

    Yeah! No cage! Such a beautyful habitat they can live: just natural.
    I have the blue birds, in german we call them butterfly finches. And I have some Gouldfinches/ Gouldamadine.

    I had finches and budgerigars as a teenager and thought they were all awesome. This makes me miss the finches. I liked watching them build the nests, and the new birds come out like a couple months later
    The finches were more interesting for the nests they make, the budgies were interesting for the different colours you'd end up with with the young. I had colours i haven't been able to find on google. I'm kinda spewing they're all dead now because I could probably sell some of their DNA or something for 100, 000s lol

      @Jean Mora Thank you ill do some more videos on them, they are a complicated species not only to sex but their behavior an attitude. Pairs will not breed if they dont get along so they can cause a lot of headaches but once you get a pair that is compatible they will breed extremely well !!

    Beautiful birds, question. Your aviary is it placed on the dirt with no wood or paved floor?

    • @paradiseaviary
      @paradiseaviary  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thankyou! The interior of the aviary is a variety of soil, mulch, and grass in different sections now the foundation or footing where the bricks sit on is made out of concrete. This is a bit larger then the width of the brick and goes down almost 2 feet which serves also as a barrier for rats and mice that may try to dig their way in.

      That not such a bad thing California and Florida are the 2 best states to get a hold of birds we both have quarentine facilities that new birds came in through so makes it easier to get certain species. Im sure there has to be a few breeders up there and petshops that have them

    Do you see aggressive behavior towards the other birds? Everybody told me these species are two aggressive towards smaller species?

    • @paradiseaviary
      @paradiseaviary  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi ive kept diamonds for many years and as long as they are kept in large flight they dont show aggression to the smaller waxbills. The only time when they do chase other birds is during the breeding season, but only if the other bird gets close to the diamonds nest. Then again all of my finches do that even the small orange breast will chase biger birds who get close to their nest site. Other than that they all get along.

I got the idea to build this by watching other youtube videos on how to build a waterfall feature in your backyard. Hope this helps
