As always a great video 🙂 i think it'd be really interesting to see some army shots of everything youve now got painted for your Bretonnians to see how the army has grown in advance of the WHW event 🙂
Back in 98 or so the painting style in most magazines and box art is so basic compared to today's standard. Its crazy seeing the hobby evolve with how good people are and how much detail has been achieved. I was blown away in 08 when I first seen NMM on a Confrontaion box art and rule book. The hobby has went from basic base coats as being fully finished to actual small works of art in 20 years
Amazing work, You should consider checking out Hayland wargame terrain, they have an entire collection of monthy python and the holy grail miniatures. Imagine doing this again, but with monthy python and their squires holding the coconuts 😂
Fantastic, and they look so good all together. I love your theme weeks, and your Old World content is (for me) the highlight of your channel. Hope you're going to show how you would paint more Old World Orcs in your style using Duncan's paint. Keep up the great work!
@@MediocreHobbies in the arcane journal there’s talk of knights that were exiled and now deface their own heraldry. From what I can gather it looks like some even roughly black it out. I’m too scared to ruin any of mine and won’t commit to a full exhiled army anyway. Would love to see a bad boy errant forced to conceal his heraldry until a specific quest was done
Honestly I did not think it would look good but I am so shocked at how beautiful it turned out that I think I’ll have to do one dedicated to your channel once I finally start my Bretonnian army
I love the bretonnian content, your videos are some of my favorite bretonnian painting videos on TH-cam. Selfishly, I'd love to see the peasant painting tutorials you've mentioned, more characters, etc. but im a die hard bretonnian so dont let me lead you away from the content you want to make. Just putting it out there 😉
Nailed it Andy, absolutely top notch. Orange and Blue scheme looks the business! Serious progress on the whole Bretonnian project. Look forward to seeing the Trebuchet and the others, with the suggestion of a Grail Pilgrim and the Reliquary. Keep up the awesome work!
Great series, reminded me of your "horus heresy made easy" High elves are good way to continue. Best Knight? Black & Orange with White & Purple a close second.
I liked this one a lot - I also have a blue and orange Questing Knight (Sir Blippi) but I have only used contrast so far so this really helps me on what to layer and highlight with!
That's a very nice looking Champion! Watching these vids made me pick up some Bretonnians to go with my High Elves and Tomb Kings; got my Knights of the Realm in box ready to be assembled. The BSB on Pegasus donor showed up so the Hippogryph project will be started up tomorrow if all goes well! Also using the BSB bits on an extra Knight of the Realm I picked up (second hand) to make a BSB Paladin; just need to figure out how I want to do the arm... the part kinda... jumped away after detachment so I might just pin the hand to the torso and sculpt the arm around the metal rod.
Fantastic work as always! Really enjoyed the series and a (robot) Knight series would be grand - as would a ‘General’ Series for several factions perhaps. Hope we grt another tournament report style video after April’s event for thos of use that didn’t scote tickets!
Have really loved watching this questing knight week, the chosen colour schemes have been great! I personally would love to see how you would paint up the new night lord and mandrake kill teams as i managed to get my hands on a pre order😁
@@MediocreHobbies I’m currently building up my Bretonnian army from the box set. I don’t have any Questing Knights or Grail Knights yet but watching both your series of videos on them really makes me want to get some and paint them up!
Loving the use of the L'Anguille serpent on your champion. In the whole of the old Bretonnian army book the only model I could see that had that icon was the Questing Bannerman. Really annoying when you're looking for inspiration 😅 I forgot to say on your last video, or one before that, but in response to the person who suggested making a unit using Realm Knight torsos and foot Knights, I did that in my old army, but combined the empire templar knights great weapon arms with a Knight of the Realm. The hardest part was finding the bits to make up his gear.
“Nope, not doing blue and orange”. “I’m painting this one blue and orange”. Can’t say you don’t listen to your audience 😂. In the end he’s turned out brilliantly, the darker blue looks great. Good luck at WW, I can’t think of a better reason to take an army to an event than that your proud of them and want to show them off (that’s how I ended up placing last in the only tournament I attended, with a Dogs of War army).
I didn’t know Element games stocked two thin coats, thanks for the heads up! How are their metallics? I’ve found citadels to either be really good or really bad lol
Kinda random, maybe too much, but I think you could do a Troll Horde in a week. They’re pretty simple models, look good with a simple paint scheme. I think you could do a list with a unit of common trolls, a unit of river trolls, a unit of stone trolls and maybe a giant and a Saturday character (maybe the new named character). You’ve already got the hag.
Just going to ask this here because i couldn't find the answers going through you previous videos - Firstly, can you explain your process for undercoating your models? It looks lighter than a traditional zentihal highlight undercoat? And secondly, i wondered while watching this video, your all over nuln oil shade stage, do you use neat nuln oil? Or do you thin it at all? If you thin it, what sort of ratio do you work to? Thanks for taking the time to read this 🙂
Brilliant video as always Andy, thanks so much for another inspiring paint job. Um, that said, you do realize that at some point, someone on the other side of the table is going to point at your hero and say, "So, that's the Mediocre Knight, right?"
3 mate, not 4 as one of them was released ;) Unfortunately I don't know any good prices at the moment. I think at least 2 of the 3 will stay like that or grow higher. Fingers crossed GW starts casting them.
Loved the videos so far. Found them through starting my own bretonnian army which i am currently working through building. Quick question, which primer would you recommend and brand? Thank you
I’ve tried a few and usually end up sticking to the one I know best, citadel chaos black and grey seer. Others I’ve tried have been okay but I find using a product I really know well works better for me than testing out ones that could be better but only if I change how I use them. Hope that makes sense?
I want to start by saying that I absolutely loved this week's theme, as I am a huge fan of Bretonnia. Here is my ranking of your color tames on your Grail Knight/Questing Knight: red/blue Grail Knight orange/black Grail Knight/Questing Knight blue/orange Questing Knight purple/white Grail Knight yellow/black Questing Knight yellow/black Grail Knight pink/white Questing Knight red/white Questing Knight yellow/blue Questing Knight black/white Grail Knight. But they all look absolutely amazing. Really looking forward to your next Bretonnia videos.
I like this scheme a lot but I think the orange and black scheme is still the best one overall. The knight series you mentioned would be cool to see at some point. Did you get the nightlord mandrake set from GW? As seeing some of them would be cool. Whatever you do next I’m sure as always it will be anything but mediocre, keep up the good work Andy.
Looking at them altogether I think the fact that they are all quartered schemes also adds to the cohesive unit look mate
Yeah that's a great point!
An idea of extra Bretonian content: some scenery (joust field, knight tent, mystical lake…), unit fillers, thematic army carrying case
You are on to one of my plans more then you think.
As always a great video 🙂 i think it'd be really interesting to see some army shots of everything youve now got painted for your Bretonnians to see how the army has grown in advance of the WHW event 🙂
I will do a big army shot at some time soon. Need to finish a few more units.

Paints available now and TH-cam are why
That is a very true statement. It’s not crazy what people can do.
Nice love you're videos, now show us the whole army together.
I’ve shown it off on my Patreon quite a bit but there’s a battle report being filmed tomorrow!
Andy, if you could do a video on brush control and maintenance fir a newbie painter it would be amazing!
I can do that.
I have just bought 12 questing knights - watching this makes me feel much better about painting them , thanks
So happy to hear that pal.
Turned out awesome, my man 👍🏻 my favorite is the dude in black and red with the axe
He did turn out well.
