RULES:
Setup White as normal and black gets 32 pawns arranged like so. White’s objective is to capture all of Black’s pawns while black’s objective is to checkmate white’s king. White moves first and only the white and black pawns on the 2nd and 7th row have the initial two-step move option so long as the path is free. En passant is allowed like normal. If black moves a pawn their farthest row, it may promote to any piece. If black is unable to move, the game results in a stalemate. Here is another variation of Horde Chess you can play. In this variation, any pawn on white’s 1st or second row can perform the 2 step move option even if it isn’t that pawns first move.

I had an idea for a chess variant, 'reactionary chess' the rules are the same but with the following changes; each player writes down their first 20 moves (the number can be adjusted so long as both players list the same number of moves) in secret and both submit them to a referee and when both are submitted both sets of pieces are moved simultaneously to fulfill the move list, if a move is no longer possible it is skipped, once both players move lists are completed the process begins again. If either player ends up in check during the moves, both lists are stopped and expunged and both players make a new secret list of moves and once both are submitted play carries on. The first player to checkmate their opponent wins.

"Synchronous Chess" has both players privately make a note of what move they want to perform at any given turn, and either perform the move simultaneously (by showing each other the note) or by allowing a referee/spectator to see the notes and move pieces simultaneously on their behalf.
