    I have herniated disk and arthritis. The first few years was terrible because I was misdiagnosed I couldn’t stand up for long. The best thing for pain is not pain killers that’s the worst thing to do! Getting the shot in ur back, doing exercises to strengthen your core muscles is a HUGE help and the other huge help is to learn ur limitations if I don’t lift more then 15 pounds, keep active and don’t do anything to aggravate my back life is much better. You just can’t do things like you once did. You cant try to carry everything at once you need to make more trips to avoid carrying the weight. Do not lay in bed for more then 8 hours or your back will hurt more resting too much will give you pain. I was getting shots in my back every 3 months but after I learned my limits I now only get a shot about once a year. Do not take the easy route taking pain killers it’s not the right way that’s like putting a bandaid on a broken leg it just doesn’t work.

    So the army told me there’s nothing wrong for 4years. I’ve experienced numbness tingling and temporary loss of the use of my legs while trying to exercise. Literally been stranded due to flair ups during workouts. Been told it’s a “lumbar strain” but I’m 23 and literally can’t walk around Walmart without leaning on a cart. Can’t even walk down the street without anxiety of “how long till the pain starts”.

No pain or anything anywhere else. Just soreness. Usually takes a week or so to recover but now I'm very careful with movements out of fear of it happening again. Any suggestions???.....this has happened about twice over 2-3 year span.

    • @TrainandMassage
      @TrainandMassage 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@garcand and @Nikola Vujadinovic
      Deadlifting and then lower back pain can be caused by 2 things. 1 is the pull from the deadlift which is more than likely to injure the lowerback. Or, its from the front of the hip flexors being too tight and pulling down on the pelvis, creating pain. Even though it could be weak muscles causing pain, it could also be tight muscles causing restrictions. Try to foam roll (self massage) the hip flexors for 2 minutes each and the QL's (side lower back). Then stretch those muscles.

    Omg I think I have a herniated disc. I’ve been in pain for almost two yrs. Dignosed w Patellofemoral syndrome. Which I think is true too but everything you are explaining about how the pain travels down to lower limbs I have it all. My PT told me he thought my dignosed might be nerve related but couldn’t figured out. I went to three orthos and they just kept diagnosing me with patellafermoral. Until today one decided last min to do an X-ray of my back. He look of his face. He wanted me to do an mri. I’m scared I might have herniated disc as I’m in tremendous pain.

    A Slipped disc is a common problem that usually takes place due to wrong posture & long-time sitting job. It is also known as a herniated disc that creates a problem with one of the rubbery cushion between the individual bones. A spinal disc is jelly donut with softer center within a tougher exterior. This condition occurs when a softer jelly pushes out, it irritates the nerves, & causes numbness, pain, or weakness in legs or arms. Many people with the slipped disc issue are gone through surgery but not get any proper relief.

      You might be, we tend to forget that we are always using muscles, regardless of our position. So, even sitting down means your technically activating your hip flexor muscles and if these muscles get tight, they could lead to lower back pain. We may also feel tightness in the front of the hips.

      i went to physical therapy and chiropractors for the same issue and i just had extremely tight hamstrings and IT bands which caused me to have sharp lower back pain (along with a herniated disc) and my SI joint wouldnt stay in so my leg would go numb. im no professional at all but im just telling you what my experience with those symptoms were

      It depends on your severity. One thing he didn't mention is how the hip flexors muscles (the muscles you use to sit) might also be tight and shortened. Try to release these muscles first by self-massaging them and foam rolling them.

    • @BackIntelligence
      @BackIntelligence  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes a person can recover from a herniation and not have symptoms again but they need to be cautious because they are considered more likely to develop problems in the future. This is where maintaining good posture habits and a good exercise routine is most important.

    • @crystalblue4303

      Actually, that heat pad into he gave is not always true. It really depends on your case. In my case, the heat pad was of GREAT HELP when I had extreme sciatic pain. Cold would make my pain 10 times worse, and after sleeping with a heat pad on my lower back, I literally wake up almost pain free.

    Ugh... This is awful.
    Your explanation makes sense especially when looking at the model.... My problem in particular is.... If I do lean forward there I less pain.... If I bend backward... There is pain....
    Isn't that supposed to be the other way around?😭

    • @isaacschlipp8169
      @isaacschlipp8169 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The more you flex your lower spine forward, the more you are weakening the firm jelly material/disc in that particular leaning position. It may hurt initially, because the area is still tender from injury but leaning backward is the intuitive way to fix a problem that occurs from leaning forward too much. Im no doctor, but these guys make sense. I also looked up another video regarding this issue and it may also help you if youre still having problems.
