I always thought it was wild Saria gives him her ocarina, it's important, then 20 minutes later Zelda gives him _her_ ocarina, and we never hear about Saria's ocarina again
I like to imagine that Saria’s ocarina breaks when Ganondorf blasts Link outside of Castle Town. I know mechanically it doesn’t happen but I think it makes narrative sense.
The Child version of the "Kakariko Village" theme will always be my favorite version of the theme, even after all these years. Also, I was 7 when this game came out. You csn imagine my reaction the first time I came face-to-face with my first ReDead...
That moment when Link slowly backs away from Saria and then pauses for a couple seconds always pulls at my heart. I know he doesn’t speak but my head cannon is that he is telling Saria they will always be friends and he will see her again. Such a memorable scene. Super glad I found your channel, can’t wait to binge all the other playlists you have setup after going through the OoT playlist!
Lizalfos looked SO cool on the box-art... and so non-threatening in the actual game (that we couldn't even have a cool roar as their sound but those little squeeks...). Also, one thing that came to my mind as I watched this episode was the memory that this was really the game that taught me movement in 3D spaces. While I had played 3D games before I never really got good at them, couldn't hack it in Tomb Raider and I actually didn't play Mario 64 until way later- my first N64 game ws actually Shadows of the Empire if you'll believe it, and that games movement was a... bizarre adventure. It was actually my brother who played the stages where you moved on foot- I mostly played the racing and rail-shooter / fliying segments, those were way easier to learn. So it wasn't actually until Ocarina of Time that I really started to learn navigating in 3D worlds, and the segment where we see Link sneak between the two guards on the incline leading up the castle was really when I first learned to like... calculate movement in the third dimenison, figuring out how to keep your eyes on multiple points of interest, determine distance, figure out which place is safe and where it's dangerous... it all started here for me. I think, if my very fuzzy memories serve me right, that it might have been because my older brother played the first dungeon where you actually learn it, and then when stealth sections showed up that He didn't have the patience for I was the one who took over... we all have our own roads that took us where we are today.
Love your commenatry, it makes me feel like I'm playing OoT for the first time, the Mexican Channel 3GordosB recomended you on one of their podcast and I'm very glad they did, I'll be waiting for the next episode
Nice relaxing voice for falling asleep to while watching video before bed 😊 I recommend you buy a microphone because there is some low quality sound and vibration, especially when mixed in front of the Zelda music, but please keep the same volume and relaxing quality of your voice please!
ik you mentioned in another comment that the audio quality got degraded due to a noise reduction filter, but completely separate from that it would be really helpful if you could use compression on your audio, which will reduce the dynamic range and make it a lot easier to understand what you're saying
Didn't you say you first played this on the Wii U? In that case It's not hard to understand why Hyrule Field wouldn't feel special but seeing Hyrule field for the first time was unlike anything anyone had ever experienced or expected in 1997. No game came close to it again until possibly the moment you leave the Great Plateau in BotW.
No, I first played on N64 at a friend's when it first came came out. I didn't get my own copy and complete the game until I got a GameCube. I did my playthrough for this podcast on Wii U. But I have played Ocarina of Time multiple times.
These are great videos but it's so distracting being Saria's name be mispronounced. I've never met anyone who called her Sa-rye-ah. I've always pronounced it Sorry-ah
These videos are really great, its like Did You Know Gaming combined with a lets play or a walkthrough. Really good idea, excellent content to have on in the background.

“You received the Fairy MacGuffin!”
@@zakmendoza8817... no
It was when link dropped sarias ocarina for Zelda's, that saria wondered into the lost woods and then died and became the sage of the forest

I love when Soraya's song lifts Darunia's mood.
I remember watching my older sibling play this on our N64, I was 5 years old and Dodongo's Cavern scared me so much 😭
Very intresting. More people should find your channel. Found it when this Season began. Great work!
Link slowly walking backward... That scene has always stayed with me. So much subtext
Fun fact: the name "Goron" derives from the japanese onomatopoeia for rolling/tumbling, which is "gorogoro" or "gorongoron".
I did not know that, very cool
08:47 Never knew of that secret grotto!
Stumbling upon this recent upload at 2:30 am is so unfair. Now I have to watch the whole thing! Great work on the latest episode, love your work!!
Currently 5:05am...I think my situation is similarly dire!
