- Learn in this video how to install the Remote Software upgrade for your BMW and the BMW Operating System 8.
Remote Software Upgrades provide new functions, functional enhancements and quality improvements for your BMW. You will be notified, after you have downloaded new vehicle software via your My BMW App or when it has been automatically downloaded onto your car while driving. When you stop, you’ll be asked to confirm the installation of the upgrade. In the rare case the download onto your vehicle has been successfully completed but you do not get a notification to complete installation, please take a longer drive and you will be notified afterwards. Follow the instructions on the Control Display. If you wonder what’s in there for you: Find out by reading the notes displayed. You can set a timer for the installation. The upgrade will start automatically when all requirements have been met. During the upgrade process your BMW cannot be used for about 20 minutes - so park the car safely before starting the procedure. You can leave and lock the vehicle while the update is running. Once it is successfully completed, you will be notified in the My BMW App. But also in your car’s control display before your next ride. Any questions regarding the upgrade? When they say the car cannot be used during the upgrade they mean it. The car shuts off totally and completely. No electronics. No radio. No windows. Nothing.
The BMW Synth Is more like the Lamborghini Aventador the Acura nsx The Honda Nsx The Nissan GT-R The Chevrolet Corvette
Where to click the software upgrade?
I have a UK 2019 Z4 M40i. I have downloaded the lates version 11/2023.50 to my BMW app and then uploaded it to the car. When the upload was completed my app told me to “follow the installation instructions on the control display in the vehicle” so I was looking for the same instruction that appear in your video (from 0:27) - no such instructions appear. It does say when you select Remote Sofware Upgrade in the setting menue in the car that the “preperations completed for the upgrade……you will be notified whe the upgrade can be installed”. Do I just have to be patient and "wait to be notified of is there something wrong? Thanks
My software is downloaded,and my Wi-Fi,Bluetooth and Apps all connected,but installation never happens. I have a 2021 X5.

"The starter battery charge status is too low." error message. Not able to update my 8 mths old BMW i7 even after driving for 20 miles as instructed.

Hi Sasan 😎 we would suggest that you contact your local BMW dealer who would be best placed to help you discuss any possible upgrades.

Unfortunately iDrive 7 cannot be upgraded to iDrive 8 or higher due to hardware requirements older systems can‘t meet. Not even the bimmer community can offer a upgrade solution 😕
Will those people with a recent larger 8.8 screen and a BMW X1, X2, X3 and 2 grand coupe and 3 series be able to upgrade to OS 8 from 7?

The upcoming 2023 Bmw Synth Supercar it got a 6.3 leader V8
I just completed the most recent upgrade and now my phone doesn't recognize my BMW bluetooth. I've reset my phone, turned off and then back on the bluetooth, and still nothing. Had zero issues before the software upgrade.
Same here I have to re-pair every single time I drive and phone calls are cut out. Did you manage to fix it?
