    I started cutting with the Oster 76s and as I've gained experience with cutting, find both clippers are a MUST have. You made good points with this, thank you.

      I have never used detachable blade clippers and I am fresh out of barber school but I have been comparing cuts for both and I do think the foundation of your haircut with detachable blades makes the cut come out better!

  • @infamous1ao
    @infamous1ao 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I believe learning to use both is important, cutting with the detachable I find the fades come out a lot smoother, but it's very unforgiving if you make a mistake you have to know the right amount of pressure to use.

      I haven't used detachable blades yet but I truly believe they are nessecary for at least debulking which creates the foundation for the cut! I am a beginner so I am still trying to grasp it all!

    Thanks man! Teacher been telling me to get detachables but never why, thought it’d be a BIG investment as a broke 20 year old lol and from what I gathered from this video that investment doesn’t need to be made yet. Got a pair of andis cordless masters for $100 (old body new blade) and that should carry me for a few years!

    Great video. My job requires me to use their BGRC at academy...I've always used the taper lever type clipper. It's hard to master when you have no time to really practice with BGRC. My Magic Clip cuts hair off with a little texture, even with lever fully closed. The BGRC with 1 or 2 cut everything off so evenly. It takes time to get to know how the detachable blending blades differ and sub for the taper lever.

    00000 BLADE = TRIMMERS
    000 BLADE = ADJUSTABLES CLOSED
    0A BLADE = ADJUSTABLES HALFWAY OPEN (IN BETWEEN A 0 AND A 1/2)
    1 BLADE = ADJUSTABLES ALL THE WAY OPEN (IT'S A 1/2 SO IT'S YOUR 1/16 GUARD CLOSED)
    1 1/4 BLADE = 1/16 HALFWAY OPEN (IN BETWEEN A 1/2 AND A 1)
    1A BLADE = 1 GUARD CLOSED
    1 1/2 BLADE = 1 GUARD HALFWAY OPEN (IN BETWEEN A 1 AND A 1 1/2)
    1 3/4 BLADE = 1 1/2 GUARD CLOSED OR YOUR 1 GUARD OPEN
    2 BLADE = 2 GUARD CLOSED
    2 3/4 BLADE = 2 GUARD OPEN
    3 1/2 BLADE = 3 GUARD CLOSED
    3 3/4 BLADE = 4 GUARD CLOSED

    From my understanding the 00000 is like a trimmer. 000 Is like a wahl blade no guard fully open. 1A is like a 1 plastic guard closed. and a 2 is like a 2 plastic guard closed. Is that right?

    Thanks for this video. I'm an idiot Bro. I bought Detachable Blade Oster 10's 2 years ago and have been using the guards. I switched to a shorter hair cut and forgot I was using a 000 and just needed to move to a 1 - 1A blade vs wondering why a 1 was too high to grip a cut. Thanks for explaining this.

  • @saucelaurent8337
    @saucelaurent8337 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I just use math lol. If someone says they want a number one chances are they are referring to a guard. So I’ll use a 1 1/2 detachable cause its 4mm and for me I use masters and there blade is a 1 basically which is like 3.2 mm. If I put a one on like a basic blade (legends) it’ll become about 4mm. So I think its vital barbers learn the actual millimeters of each blade and the guards. Will make it easier to use any clipper without much thought

      Math is cool. 1/8th 1÷8=.125. 3.2mm 3.2÷25.4 for the conversation gives you .125. I learned how to use math, too. I see people have made the mistake of using detachable blade number 1 instead of 1A for 1/8.
