Two American TV actors who played British characters so well that for years I had no idea they were really Americans: the late John Hillerman (Higgins on the original series of _Magnum, P.I.)_ and the late Paul Benedict (the next-door neighbor Bentley on _The Jeffersons)_ - Hillerman was born, raised, and died in Texas, and Benedict was born in New Mexico and died in Martha's Vineyard.
