To me, the same goes for Elle Fanning as Aurora in the two Maleficent movies. Her UK accent in those movie was spot on! I real life she has a soft midwestern type of voice
You left out Saoirse Ronan in Greta Gerwig's Lady Bird and Little Women. That Irish actress can certainly speak in a flawlessly fluent American accent.
What about Gary Oldman in almost any role he has done?? I am shocked that he was not included in this list. He is masterful at doing a variety of accents and dialects. Seriously!!!
Idris Elba and Christian Bale have mastered the US accent so well, that they sound more American than some actual Americans. Andrew Lincoln should be here from The Walking Dead, if you make a television version.
Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman play Americans so much that I forget that they are Australian. Since the actors on this list don't have to be living, you forgot about Bob Hoskins and Vivien Leigh. The first time I heard Bob Hoskins in a movie where he had an English accent, I thought it was fake because I had only ever heard him play New Yorkers.
You forgot Hugh Laurie in "House". When I first saw the series, I had no idea that he was British, so when I saw him on one of the late night interviewers(Carson?), I was shocked! Not only by his voice, but his personality and mannerisms are totally opposite of House.
Not to mention that Laurie says it *never* becomes easy, that speaking in an American accent is always something he does very consciously. Very different from someone like Tom Holland, who can go back and forth, switching accents, even within the same sentence (apparently effortlessly).
After growing up watching Hugh Laurie in 'Blackadder', 'A Bit of Fry and Laurie' and 'Jeeves and Wooster' I knew he was British. When I watched House I thought the Australian character's accent was an awful fake, turns out the guy is Australian so the accent was real. I'm a Kiwi, I should have been able to recognise it as authentic.
Why is Benedict Cumberbatch not on this list? Here is a man who can transform himself, literally lose himself, in whatever character he plays, including vocally! He can do any voice needed, including Bostonian--which is very difficult to pull off, and sound PERFECT!
Christian Bale is on my top 10 list of best actors ever born. They didn't show his character from "The Mechanic", but he is incredibly dedicated to his art and he can become many different people.
I'm convinced that Toni Colette was left off of this list because the writers don't know she's a Kiwi. She should have been number 1 for just about every movie she's been in. Just pick a random film of hers and she's probably doing an accent. She plays an American so often that most people think she's American. When you hear her real voice, it's shocking.
As I blind person, I’ve been trained to recognize voices. There have been several times that it has surprised me when someone turns out not to be British, or not to be American, but I would have no trouble whatsoever, knowing that Jim Carrey was the Grinch. While he tries to sound more like a Grinch than himself, he still sounds like Jim Carrey acting like Jim Carrey to me. Everyone else, though, I was very surprised by, except for Meryl Streep, that lady is just a genius.
Daniel Kaluya- British Danile Day Lewis- British Christian Bale- British Idris Elba- British Robert Pattinson - British Andrew Garfield - British i'm sensing a trend here.
Kristen Stewart looked, sounded, and moved absolutely nothing like Princess Diana. She looked, sounded, and moved like a child dressed as Princess Di for Halloween. That movie was too excruciatingly acted to even get all the way through. This performance was proof that awards are completely meaningless.
I agree with Heath Ledger but I would add Gary Oldman for example as Drexl Spivey in True Romance where he played someone who thinks he’s black considering he’s supposedly British.
I feel James McAvoy deserves to be on one of these lists! It was years after I first saw him on screen (doing an American accent) that I discovered he's Scottish!! Incredibly versatile! His English accent is pretty darn good too!
What about Kevin Kline? He's done different accents too like in French Kiss and in Sophie's Choice. You also forgot to mention Streep's British accent in The Iron Lady as well
I think Mike Myers, Karen Gillan, and Alfred Molina could be on here because the Shrek voice is so iconic it's a little weird to hear him talk normally, Gillan has a Scottish accent so it's the weirdest thing to hear her talk in real life, and Molina has a British accent even though his voice is synonymous with Doc Ock.
What about Margot Robbie? I didn’t know she was Australian until recently! (At least I think she’s Australian. I just know for sure she doesn’t have an American accent)
Interesting that 2 of the 3 recent Spider-man actors speak with a British accent (Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland), although Garfield was actually born in LA (and raised in the UK).
Was expecting Andrew Lincoln on the list or as an honorable mention. He is british mostly know with he is own accent in Love Actually, but uses American accent in Walking Dead.
Besides Good Time, there are a bunch of movies where Robert Pattinson doesn’t sound like himself. The Twilight series, Remember Me, The Lighthouse, The King, and The Batman.
Actors doing accents isn't amazing, it's expected. A handful of actors butcher accents or do a less than stellar job, but most do well enough to be pretty much indistinguishable from a native speaker.
Keanu Reeves could’ve done with some dialect coach is when he tried and failed to do a British accent in Dracula ..” Also, John Wayne in literally any other film he’s not meant to be rooting tooting cowboy. He couldn’t do another accent for example in the movie The Conqueror, he’s meant to play Genghis Khan, but he does not change his voice or accent once Tom cruise far far away
Quite bluntly, Ledger 's job wasn't that hard... Though he isn't from the US, he's not really doing a US accent as much as impersonating one of the most impersonated voices in the world....Jack Nicholson...Add Cesar Romero's laugh and all he's really doing is a combination impression of people who played the role previously....

im thinking you forgot the MASTER, Gary Oldman.
Even though she’s American, I still always think of Renee Zelweger in her British accent from Bridget Jones
I honestly didn't think she was American. I thought she was British until I saw this video
@AlexandriaDawn190 same here 🙋🏼♀️
I didn’t even knew she had a British accent in that film, she sounded more American to me.
And also Miss Potter. Nothing could be more British than that film.

The first time I heard Bob Hoskins in a movie where he had an English accent, I thought it was fake because I had only ever heard him play New Yorkers.
Daniel Kaluuya is an amazing actor; I keep forgetting that he is born and raised in the UK. He sure nailed a good job of the American accent
You could do a whole list of just British doing American accents. Besides ones mentioned Tom Holland, Daisy Ridley, Hugh Laurie
Kate Winslet in Titanic. I didn’t realize until later she was British because she spoke with such a good American accent
You forgot Hugh Laurie in "House". When I first saw the series, I had no idea that he was British, so when I saw him on one of the late night interviewers(Carson?), I was shocked! Not only by his voice, but his personality and mannerisms are totally opposite of House.

Ed who plays Chuck on Gossip girl! He's so good! My mind was blown when I heard him speak they way he normally does.
You know the person that came up with the movies for Daniel Day-Lewis is young, because they didn't refer to Last Of The Mohicans 😂
I was completely that way about Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka, I didn't even recognize him in either voice or appearance!
For Andrew Garfield you should have picked Desmond Doss in Hacksaw Ridge! His Virginia hills accent was spot on!
Christian Bale is on my top 10 list of best actors ever born. They didn't show his character from "The Mechanic", but he is incredibly dedicated to his art and he can become many different people.
Tom's voice for Forrest Gump...he did a believable Southern Drawl.😊😊
Also in the Chris Nolan Batman films- Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon and in Batman Dark Knight Tom Wilkinson as gangster Carmine Falcone.
Toni Collette was born in Sydney not anywhere in Kiwiland, so she's an Aussie, not a Kiwi.
Muriel's Wedding is still one of the greatest films ever
@@brettcoster4781 My bad. I thought she was from New Zealand. The rest of the statement is true though. LOL
As I blind person, I’ve been trained to recognize voices. There have been several times that it has surprised me when someone turns out not to be British, or not to be American, but I would have no trouble whatsoever, knowing that Jim Carrey was the Grinch. Totally agree with regards to Jim Carey. I think Watch Mojo need their ears checked
Why no mention of Forest Whitaker's portrayal of Idi Amin in "The Last King of Scotland" ? And Kerry Washington in the same movie
Daniel Craig in the Knives Out universe should’ve been mentioned!!
Hey, you, Mojo - what about the late great Peter Sellers? He could effortlessly do all sorts of accents and subtle variations.
Daniel Kaluya- British
Danile Day Lewis- British
Christian Bale- British
Idris Elba- British
Robert Pattinson - British
Andrew Garfield - British
i'm sensing a trend here.
They all TRAINED at RADA?
Kristen Stewart was amazing in Spencer. She literally rocked that part.
You failed to mention Brad Pitt in Snatch.
Gary Oldman "Darkest hour" should be in the top also. I didnt realise that he played Winston Churchill until i saw the cast
This is really cool!!! Thank you for posting!! Glad I got to see it!!!!
-if you say accents different from the actor's, David Suchet as Poirot is incredible.
The best Poirot ever, in my opinion. Truly remarkable acting by David Suchet.
@@loboclaud Hell yeah he is, I mean to me he is not just "the best Poirot ever". He straight up IS Poirot.
You forgot about Eli wallach. He has a Spanish accent in the good the bad and the ugly. But he is American regular voice in real life
I think you forget mention Cate Banchett's fantastic works. But is not to late to talk about her☺!
Robert's performance as Batman was great too.
I would love to see a list of actors whose roles disappear into the actor’s persona. That would be interesting too 😏.
The Rock, Kevin Hart... I think thats the list
Ryan Reynolds also.
Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne also sounds like his character from American Psycho
Also Kate Winslet or Florence Pugh in basically everything.
Definitely Florence Pugh who goes from her normal British accent to Amy in Little Women or Yelena in Hawkeye.
If there's a part 2 of this, I'd like to nominate Pat Morita
Daniel son, to sound Japanese as Bonsai just be like crane.
Brilliant suggestion. 👍
I feel James McAvoy deserves to be on one of these lists! It was years after I first saw him on screen (doing an American accent) that I discovered he's Scottish!! Incredibly versatile! His English accent is pretty darn good too!
Oh wow, actors changing voice or accent to portray a character, which is literally what their job is!
but some are absolute shite , Dick Van Dyke ring any bells? it may be their job but not all are gifted with being able to do accents.
Nice top to start off a nice day like today! Happy friday morning, Saraah, take care and God bless you, greetings from Colombia to you as well.
Russell Crowe put on a great accent for a Beautiful Mind. His real accent was used for Proof of life, as well as his Australian outings.
What about Kevin Kline? He's done different accents too like in French Kiss and in Sophie's Choice. You also forgot to mention Streep's British accent in The Iron Lady as well
and Streep's Australian accent as Lindy Chamberlain in A Cry in the Dark.
@@musicalneptunianand her Italian accent in The Bridges of Madison County.
It's a testament to these actors' skills that they're able to imitate foreign accents!
Which can be very hard to do!
I think Mike Myers, Karen Gillan, and Alfred Molina could be on here because the Shrek voice is so iconic it's a little weird to hear him talk normally, Gillan has a Scottish accent so it's the weirdest thing to hear her talk in real life, and Molina has a British accent even though his voice is synonymous with Doc Ock.
what about Rami Malek as Freddy Mercury. Incredible close.
That’s actually pretty interesting!
The actor who played the character HM Murdock in A Team the movie is a South African actor who pulled off a real good American accent for that role.
I remember an interview Johnny Depp did where he said the voice for Willy Wonka came to him from a voice he did when playing Barbies with his daughter
I'm expecting Robbie Williams will be included in this list
Garfield put on a very solid southern dialect for "Hacksaw Ridge".
Surely you missed a silly honorable mention:
Leonard Nimoy sounding like a Vulcan.
Chadwick Boseman in Black Panther.
What about Margot Robbie? I didn’t know she was Australian until recently! (At least I think she’s Australian. I just know for sure she doesn’t have an American accent)
Mira Sorvino: Romy And Michelle's High School Reunion
I immediately thought of Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins in ,,Supernatural''
Interesting that 2 of the 3 recent Spider-man actors speak with a British accent (Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland), although Garfield was actually born in LA (and raised in the UK).
How about that guy in The Mentalist. Both the Rigsby character and Simon Baker.
Was expecting Andrew Lincoln on the list or as an honorable mention. He is british mostly know with he is own accent in Love Actually, but uses American accent in Walking Dead.
One of the worst actors for NOT attempting any other voice than his own was Sean Connery. He sounded like Sean Connery in EVERYTHING he did 🤭
No Gary Oldman on everything?
Besides Good Time, there are a bunch of movies where Robert Pattinson doesn’t sound like himself. The Twilight series, Remember Me, The Lighthouse, The King, and The Batman.
Seeing little Taylor Momsen in The Grinch didn't make me feel super old or anything...
I'll pick Laura Fraser (Lydia Rodarte-Quayle) for most different.
Diana was Kristen's best role...she deserved the Oscar.
No she didn’t
No accent swap detected but Philip Seymour Hoffman (R.I.P.) in Capote sounded so different from his regular speaking voice!
3:11 That sounds like good learning, but not for talking.
That “hello” sounded exactly like Jim Carey.
Heath and Meryl ❤🎉
I realize that he is an actor-and a good one-but I was surprised to find that Kelsey Grammer doesn’t sound like Frasier
it might just be me but you sound incredible aggressive as a narrator
has the cadence of a bad TV reporter
Charlie Hunnam and Nicole Kidman too!
Actors doing accents isn't amazing, it's expected. A handful of actors butcher accents or do a less than stellar job, but most do well enough to be pretty much indistinguishable from a native speaker.

Also, John Wayne in literally any other film he’s not meant to be rooting tooting cowboy. He couldn’t do another accent for example in the movie The Conqueror, he’s meant to play Genghis Khan, but he does not change his voice or accent once
Tom cruise far far away
As impressive as Carry’s Grinch is his many characters he voiced in Disney’s Christmas Carol are much more powerful.
You should of mention Joseph Gordon-Levitt for his part in Snowden. He sounded absolutely nothing like himself.
Gary Oldman should have been on this list.
You bring up Robert Pattonson as if he wasn't Cedric Diggory and all us nerds knew he was British and being in Twilight
Bob Hoskins in Roger Rabbit. His normal accent is Australian.
Bob Hoskins was born in Suffolk England and most of his rolls called for a Cockney or London accent.
@@ExLibris-Alys I’m sorry I got it wrong. Thanks for correcting me. 😊
@@LadyKC67 No apology necessary 👍🏻🙂
Gary oldman should have been on this list as well
Newsies!!
Actors can change voice and do accents. Who could have though?!?

Renee has made many movies since Bridget Jones so why would anyone think she was British.
Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn...
No mention of Gary Oldman?
Austin Butler as Elvis....
No. 1 should be Mel Blanc.
I would bet dollars to donuts that most, if not all of these people, can sing.
What about Russell Crowe?
Where is Mia Goth in Pearl and X ?
Meryl Streep's voice, whatever role she is playing, gets on my nerves
Always wondered why they cast Kristen as Diana they bare no resemblance what so ever
Daniel da y Lewis is irish
Wow. No Margot Robbie?
Jeebus I forget how many actors are not American or viceversa, not British
Elizabeth olsen got robbed
….. wait??? Daniel kaluuya is British!!!???
It's surprising when brits can do an R controlled vowell. They often OVER pronounce it
Don Cheadle's voice as the Owner of Hotel Rwanda was impressive as was Will Smith's as the doctor in Concussion.😊😊
