About this Indonesian Street Food Vlog:
There are many local Indonesian foods that I’ve wanted to eat, but I wanted my first time trying them to be on camera. I finally made this Indonesian culinary vlog to show you just what I thought about foods that my Indonesian fans had recommended to me. In this Jakarta food vlog, I eat:
- Nasi Padang
- Rendang
- Seblak
- Gado Gado (Or Gado2)
- Rawon
- Bakwan
- Telur Gulung
- Nasi Iga Bakar
I enjoyed every single type of food that I ate in this episode. Take a look and see if all of that food even cost more than $10!
About the local Indonesian cuisine at Blok M Square:
Blok M in Jakarta is a well-known hub for street food, offering a diverse range of local Indonesian flavors. Here, you can find some of the most iconic dishes, such as nasi goreng (fried rice), sate ayam(chicken skewers), and bakso (meatball soup). Street vendors line the bustling streets, serving up hot, delicious food at affordable prices. A must-try is siomay, steamed dumplings made with fish and served with a peanut sauce. Another popular option is kerak telor, a savory omelet with sticky rice, duck eggs, and crispy fried shallots. The atmosphere at Blok M is lively, especially in the evening when locals and tourists flock to enjoy the culinary experience. It’s a place where you can truly indulge in Jakarta’s street food culture and enjoy authentic Indonesian cuisine.

You're already in Jakarta, while I'm waiting for your activities in Bandung, especially at Kawah Putih 😢
I’m in Yogyakarta actually! I just don’t put everything out in order. I’ll put the Kawah Putih episode out soon! Maybe next!
Go inside the Blok M Square, then go down to Basement floor, there's Pujasera (food court) you can eat Mie Ayam Piring, Batak food and Padang too
Good to know! I’ll try it next time. Thanks!
Indonesian people really have a lot of delicious food to choose from! You must be very full Bule!
I think I’ve barely scratched the surface as far as the foods go. There’s a lot more to eat!
Indonesia has more than 6000 types or menus of food and this is appropriate because Indonesia has hundreds of cultures, tribes and languages. You won't have enough if you only live in Indonesia for 1 year to try all the food in Indonesia 😆.
Rendang is the No. 1 most delicious food in the world in 2017 as released by CNN International.
Oh man… I’m going to be so fat when I leave here hahaha

I applaud you for eating seblak, because generally foreigners don't like food that is too spicy, seblak has a level of spiciness, don't force yourself when eating spicy food in Indonesia, at least you bring yogurt or milk,Enjoy the trip, stay careful bro

Yeah Kalimantan is on my list! But I won’t make it for this trip. I am almost out of days on my visa…
eeehhhh normal cost for lunch was 2$US enough :) for local ppl. not 20$ :( i lived there about 20 years ago.

Thanks for the insights! Good to know!
Expensive price, go to other city will be better
Yeah I’m outside of Jakarta now and it’s much h cheaper. I’ll make another food video in Surabaya!
Dude, the food Stahl is on the basement level, some Stahl they serve different kind of dishes, you just pick what you like then they charged what you pick. And they'll be more seller after dawn around the mall. where you had that ribs, try to come after dark the side walk will be full with food vendor, they selling 'gultik' it's a short for 'curry on the corner' bc it's located near the round about , which serve lite beef curry, well to me is more like water down curry bc it wasn't that strong of a curry dish but still a good late nite lite meal bc they serve a small portion like tapas. Blok M area (Blok M Square, Blok M Mall, M Bloc, Melawai) really happening after dark. And fyi Blok M is the oldest modern days shopping/gathering mecca of Jakartan or South Jakartan since Colonialism, the Dutch build Blok M and surrounding area specific for that business / commercial purposes and as residencial
Oh I missed it! I’ll have to go back and check those spots out! Thank you!
@TravelLordOnLocation, Do give it a try to eat Bubur Ayam, Opor Ayam & Sop Ayam (these last two are the menus that my bf LOVE IT so very much but he haven't try the Bubur Ayam just yet). Good Luck!

GADO GADO is not mix mix, its mean eating whitout rice, when you eat with rice its called PECEL.
Ah I didn’t know that! Thanks for letting me know!
A nice and distinctive vlog for my great country that I haven’t visited for a long time. I really missed all the hot and spicy foods. Thank you. Keep going. I wish you continued success and prosperity. Welcome, my brother. 😊🇸🇦🇲🇨
Thanks for the comment and for watching! I already shot a lot of other videos in Indonesia that I have to edit!
Try Pecel Lele, Sate Ayam, Martabak, and also try traditional drinks Cendol Dawet, Es Cincau, Wedang Jahe. But I hope you come across the right vendors, it's always tricky to find the 'right' ones, same food but can be so different in taste
Ok! I wrote those down. Thanks for the suggestions!
Bro.. That's bakwan to expensive.. you can buy just Rp 2500 for one piece on the street.
Yeah I didn’t think about it at the time but when I was editing I thought it was expensive
Hi bro great vids
if you are the type of spicy guy i suggest you to try Mie Gacoan, the number 1 spicy noodles in indonesia. you can choose from level 0 - 8. it tastes good and cheap.
And if you visit Jogja you should go to alun-alun kidul (alkid) especially at night, you will find lots of street food vendors there
I just was at Alun-Alun Kidul for a video two days ago. You will see me cry at the end hahahaha thanks for the advice!

Thanks for your comment! Yeah as I’ve visited more cities I’ve noticed that there are much lower prices for food!
different city different speciality 😊
btw, as Indonesian my self, I'm not a big fan of seblak, I can't handle the spices, i still eat them sometimes but i tone the spice down a little bit . 😂😂😂
Yeah I found out it is from Bandung. I had one in Bandung also which wasn’t so spicy
Seblak is the nurul's (Indonesian Karen) food. Only the nuruls suggest it
I thought it was very good, even though it was very spicy!
TravelNasi! Heil Padang!
You have to try it sometime!
You should try Soto Banjar at Akasya Express on Taman Kemang Street, the original food from South Borneo.. It's reach of flavour..
Ok I’ll write that down! Thanks for the suggestion!
wow bakwan costs 35,000 looks like he's giving you tourist prices
Yeah seems like it but I didn’t know at that time: thanks to you and other comments I’ve learned a lot!
I'm Indonesian, but I'm really shocked by the price of food there. everything is expensive. What was even more surprising was that the price of bakwan was Rp. 35,000. Jakarta is famous for being expensive, all the food there is expensive. Maybe it's because it's a big city. I usually spend money on food, only Rp. 50,000. in my city food prices are still cheap. gado-gado 15,000, bakwan 1 pc 1,000 if the big one Rp. 2,000- 3,000/pc.
Yeah I thought the Bakwan was pretty expensive. Now I’m out of Jakarta so I’ll try some new foods in other cities. Thanks for watching!
bakwan beda tempat itu, kalo belinya di tukang gorengan pinggir jalan juga harganya paling 2000-2500.
untuk makanan lain juga sama, tergantung daerah jakarta mana lu beli.
That's Mall area so it's normal.
The price of gado-gado sold on the street in Jakarta is also Rp. 15,000 & fried food Rp. 1,500 except in malls or restaurants. In the mall, 1 piece of bakwan costs between Rp. 5,000 - 6,000
Bakwan food is inspired by China, namely from the word 'bak' which means meat & 'wan' is a ball. But in Indonesia the ingredients have been replaced with flour & vegetables such as carrots bean sprouts because meat is relatively expensive. Bakwan only became famous after being sold by street vendors in Jakarta. Bakwan is not a typical Kalimantan culinary food
Maksud dr penjual mungkin bakwan khas ponti x
"gado-gado" doesn't mean "mix-mix", gado is to eat the side dish without rice, as you already know us indonesians eat absolutely everything with rice. i don't know why but that gado-gado you ate is far from the traditional gado-gado in my region. there should be no rice and no chicken. but i will eat that anyways, looks delicious lol
Oh I see. Interesting! Thanks for the info!
Bakwan 35.000 4 pcs😂 so expensive, in borneo only 1.500 per pcs
Yeah I didn’t realize it was so expensive until I read the comments!
You must trying street food not in the mall.. the price is very expensive.. you must try in street food.. the price not to expansif
I try other street foods in other episodes that I didn’t edit yet. Stay tuned!

S, Sulawesi (Makassar food): seafood (grilled fish), sop konro, coto makassar, mie titi, jalangkote, es palubutung, es pisang ijo. Es means ice so it's iced beverages.
N. sulawesi (Manado food): all seafood, es brenebon, sambal rica (this is actually how sambal but also how you cook/styled the food), sambal dabu-dabu, cakalang is the most famous fish used, rahang tuna (this is tuna's jaw that is grilled), klappertart (coconut cake for dessert, pretty sure has dutch influence) and many others. Actually Gado-Gado is Salad in Indonesia. Dressing is Peanut sauce (peanut, chili, brown sugar, shrimp paste, tamarind, salt) 40K is expensive i think. Indonesia has many different Salat, in Surabaya call it Rujak Cingur mix vegetables, fruits & nose of cow.. yes nose. Rawon is a beef soup with Kluwak (that's make a soup being dark), the red paste you tried on the gado-gado is Sambal. 40K maybe now common price in Jakarta but in my place bit expensive, Gado-gado in my place is 15K use Egg, maybe cause you with chicken so became expensive 😊 Bakwan 35K? Wow.. not meat in there? Like shrimp? Usually Bakwan has shrimp inside or up the surface of Bakwan. Well enjoy Jakarta.
Yeah I thought the Bakwan was expensive. I’m out of Jakarta and will do another food video in Surabaya so I’ll see if the prices are cheaper. Thanks for the comment!
@@TravelLordOnLoc while in Surabaya try many food from Surabaya, famous food from Surabaya is Rujak Cingur & Rawon, you have tried Rawon then try Rujak Cingur, same like Gado-gado but the different is Rujak Cingur is not only Vegies but also use fruit like pineaple, manggo unripe one + Cingur which mean in Indonesian called it Hidung a.k.a Nose of cow. The dressing not using shrimp paste but Petis. Not my type of food, but some lile it. Then try Soto Balap. If you have enough time go to mount Bromo, then Tumpak Sewu waterfalls. If Canada has Niagara waterfall well Indonesia has Tumpak Sewu (well similar to Niagar some say ✌️😁)
