A Rare Performance of bob dylan songs at The Legendary Eric Clapton's RAH Tour in 1990 Buy The Official 24 night DVD visit the offial web site at www.ericclapton.com peace
Saw him play this live in 1976. He always manages to find something new in a live performance, and always has great players around him. This 1990 performance was really good, but I loved that relaxed feel the ‘76 band had with Yvonne Elliman, Marcy Levy, George Terry, Dick Simms, Jamie Oldaker and the great Carl Radle on bass. At that time they were joined by Sergio Pastora Rodriguez on percussion and he was really entertaining.
Very close to the single....which I loved. Phil obviously studied it....he had the cymbal runs off-pat Thanks.... surprised this has only just come to light.
There's a long black cloud following me... I feel I'm knocking on heaven's door. Then comes my favorite4 instrumental part of this song, listen again. Mom, take this badge off of me, I can't use it anymore. Getting dark to dark to see... I feel like I'm knocking on Heaven's door. Knock knock knockin...
So right now we were having a discussion on a discord and some plp were blasting Axl Rose for his rendition of this song (which last time a saw GnR live on 2016 they did played the song ok i thought, i liked it) and a guy in the discord goes "man you should listen to Eric Clapton version of it....and its a reggae song from his Best of Album of 1982" i was sold immediately and i vaguely remember this cover, did a YT search and instead of going for the album version of 4min, i go "naw let me go for the 6 min live version bc i know Slowhand rips with his solos" and who do i see killing it with just the hit hats, YES. I went "wait a minute is that Phil Collins....IT IS PHIL COLLINS, HOLY CRAP". Im glad i found this live version.
Might be the best version of Dylan's song I've ever heard.
EVERYONE ON THAT STAGE IS A LEGEND!!!!
This shows you how great a drummer Phil is. He's making a simple hi-hat sound like an entire kit...
Him and Steve Ferrone on the actual drum set in the back.
An entire kit was playing at certain points though…

I’ve seen this strat in person, the inlays are some sort of metal, maybe aluminum? Phenomenal piece of history.

Where can i find this version, PieterW. ? ;)
Who is the bass player
Nathan East
Great! But I prefer the 'old grey whistle-version' where EC was drunk as hell.
Stoned more
Likely
(and yes, I'm kidding)
I despise when people use caps lock and an obscene amount of exclamation points, but I just have to say: KEYTAR!!!!!!!
That's Herbie Hancock
You might wonder why Stevie Wonder wasn't invited. He wasn't blind yet.
That's Greg Phillinganes😂😂
