      If it's as good as this It''ll be a beast...... I don't need such a large machine.... But i really do want one of these small machines!!

      I find the 12" always has a little more blade deflection than the smaller blades. I think the 10" is more accurate than the 12"

    Excellent video Rick!
    Seems like a very decent piece of equipment.

    Great project Rick. A good alternative to using a router

    I tried doing the same thing with a dovetail bit with my router but it burned the wood, you have to do it with multiple times with rising depth. But I think the perfect deal is to start with a mitre saw, than continue with the dovetail bit

    • @BrainFizz
      @BrainFizz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      With dovetail bits in a router, the shape dictates that a cut be made in a single pass so the correct profile be cut...more so for sliding dovetails but also for boxes or drawers in hard wood, making a relief cut, either with a straight routerbit, or by other means - I used the Mitresaw saw here but a circ saw, or by hand, means less resistance from the workpiece and so a better final finish can be achieved.👌

    That thing has got a lot of grunt! 👌
    Nice lap bench build, mate. 👍
    What was that, that you coated the bench with?
    Looked like iced coffee... 😂😂😂

      Considering its cordless (36V) it's pretty hefty! Really like it, shame it's got to be returned!
      Lap bench gets much more use than i thought it might too!
      The finish is a hardware oil - actually one for floors, thought I'd use up some on this. had it a while, but no point wasting it!

    Can it be used to make fixed depth cross cuts accurately ? Eg trench cut a 2 inch deep mortise across a 4x4 inch timber. Have you used the depth stop feature, is it reliable ? Any flex in the saw arm ? Seems rigid enough to allow accurate depth control. Nice video, rather than sales talk. Cannot be displaying the saw’s capabilities. Well done. Is she made in Japan ?

    • @BrainFizz
      @BrainFizz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      it wouldn't be used for mortice work, but it will happily trench out timber.. In the same way I cut the trend for the sliding dovetails.
      Yes the depth stop is secure, and there is no movement in the arms.
      My understanding is the saw is from japan yes. It's a more than capable saw. but it will come at a cost - not cheap, but actually fair considering its quality, and cordless.

      4X4" Material won't even fit under the blade of that tool to make a full thru pass trenching- the answer is a resounding no. But you knew that didn't you? lol

    • @histguy101
      @histguy101 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@damonalagich4524 Yes, it cannot cut all the way through a 4x4, but it can do trench cuts in one, as much as 2/3rds the ways through.

    what is the product code of this saw in the UK ?where can it be demonstrated ? price in uk pounds ? thank you, great saw.

      @BrainFizz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the saw is the C3607DRA, i know FFX have them, as for demo's best to contact your local dealer, or possibly a trade show - hikokiuk, will be best to tell you which ones they will be attending next.

    The way the blade stops is really quite neat. Sounds a lot quieter too? .. I hope they bring this technology to mains powered mitre saws.

    • @BrainFizz
      @BrainFizz  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This can basiacally be a mains powered saw with the adapter.
      But yes, the brake is really quick...... I want them to make a tablesaw!❤️👍

      yewgoigo hi Gerry, it is now yes. Any Hikoki dealer should be able to get it for you. FFX have it available on their website.

    How do you rate the flexvolt AC power adapter Rick? I noticed you started with it on but then its of in later shots. Does it over heat often? Thanks (great video :-) )

    • @BrainFizz
      @BrainFizz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No it’s great. Never noticed over heating… the reason it wasn’t shown as much is simply that I didn’t use it that much - because the battery is more than good enough to cope with everything. Mains is more about duration benefits. I just get on with the battery.

    • @benconvey2897
      @benconvey2897 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @BrainFizz I wish Makita would make an XGT AC adapter like this, such a good idea. Dewalt has something similar for one of its mitre saws and festool for its sanders

    Hey mate what is the deepest this saw can cut upright. Like can it cut 90mm x 18mm thick standing upright

    • @BrainFizz
      @BrainFizz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Off the top of my head, I couldn’t tell you, but Hikoki globally have the full spec sheets in just about every language going…

    • @histguy101
      @histguy101 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're just mitering a corner off of say.. baseboard standing upright, yes it can do 90mm. Otherwise the depth is 62mm. You may want to make a taller auxiliary fence on the left side if you want to use it that way, as the fences are very short.
      Cutting a board flat to the table, it has a 312mm cut capacity.

    Is that wood from a banana tree? 🤣

    • @BrainFizz
      @BrainFizz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was actually a pre-mde door lining set from Wickes, so yeah pretty much. they're pretty much always rubbish. it was got purely for use doing router demos, at makers central last year, and this was what was left over.

      Theres a flip out bar on the top arm that has a screw thread for adjustment.
