The only show stopper for me is the requirement for Corsair low-profile memory in order to fit a top-mounted radiator, as not having LPX RAM would force you into a front-mounted radiator configuration. Inadequate clearance from the PSU shroud to the radiator requires that you mount the radiator with the pipes at the top (above the pump) which Gamers Nexus advise against.

I don't get the hate for corsair products. If you get one of these you have access to a pretty good ecosystem cause you can get corsair fans, cpu cooler, ram modules and psu. You can even get a nice, clean, white build . With the others like phanteks or lian li, you don't get the same ecosystem. Of course you can get corsair components and put them into other cases, but it doesn't seem the same.
If you're using, for example, products with a proprietary connector for control along with a software suite it makes sense to stick to one manufacturer for most things. It is clear a slice of the KitGuru audience has little time for RGB so your RAM and power supply aren't really part of the ecosystem. In essence it boils down to fans and RGB.
only one usb connector on top? the only usb-c i use is on my phone, and it needs a normal usb to connect to... i would have bought this but my cheaper case has 3 usb, headphone, and mic.. this corsair has fewer usb, why?!
It seems like a very nice case. Thank you very much for such a great review. It seems, though, that front panel offerings and very sparse. They don’t even offer the bare minimum of many other cases. Also sticking the power supply in sideways these days seems like such a great design.
I have the Corsair 5000x and the 4000D, the lighter tinted glass on the 5000x is vastly better. Not only does it still not glare due to RBG lights. I can actually see my components for those moments I feel I want to have a look to check something or enjoy my tech eye candy! With the 4000d I had to unscrew the glass panel a few times to check things, it was frustrating as my case is kinda heavy and awkward to move.
I don't think so. this guy has no idea what he's doing and is too old to understand the current style trends. This case is amazing... you can switch panels on the fly as well. @@KitGuruTech Yeah, it has a white vs grey aesthetics with black accents. That is simply stunning. So the front would be 3 x NF-F12 Chromex Black and then the cooler would be the Scythe Fuma 2. You might even be able to get away with 3 x Scythe Kaze Flex 120 or three of the grey Noctua revision fans in the front, but I would question how effective this would be vs the Corsair fans. In additon it would need a white or grey AIB GPU. Something like: www.newegg.com/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-2070-super-gv-n207sgamingoc-white-8gd/p/N82E16814932219 and hopefully a motherboard with black vs white vs grey; Asrock maybe? I mean, if that's all you look for in a case, sure. But when you want a premium feel and look, then you've gotta make some sacrifices. The temps are perfectly acceptable for the parts that are in it. Nowhere close to overheating and thermal throttling, so wheres the problem?

I own the case and I am very *slightly* disappointed with it, the only reason for this is because G.Skill Trident Z (non-rgb) is apparently about a 1/4in too tall for me to mount my 280 AIO at the top of the case and its impossible to mount it tubes down at the front either. Airflow is very good and I've had 0 problems with cooling however is is a bit of a sore spot for me. If they'd made it a little bit taller or a little bit wider I'd be able to install my cooler how I'd originally planned.

I would get a Phanteks P400A, it's cheaper even the ARGB variant and can fit 3 fan GPUs easily like the ROG Strix, also comes with 3 fans meanwhile the Meshify comes only with 2 fans and 3 fan GPUs barely fit (and if you put a radiator at the front only smaller GPUs fit the space is so small...

I've just about settled on this being my new case. Thinking i'll move the front fan to the top (exhaust) & buy a 3-pack of RGB fans for the front. Any recommended fans for the front that have a good balance for airflow/quiet noise/RGB aesthetics?
this was exactly my idea! I hope the build came along well since its 7 months on !! Also hows the case airflow and temps are they good??
@@user-gg2019 Hey. Build couldn’t have come together better I think. So easy to work in this case (even easier with no HDDs). I used the Corsair fan up top & researched the hell out of decent performing RGB fans…Ended up going with the Arctic Bionix P120 ARGB due to their overall noise, performance, cable management & subtle RGB. Temps have been great over the Winter & my initial testing during our Summer now have been good too.
Oh I should say I ended up replacing both Corsair fans, & used 6 of the above Arctic fans in my case (including swapping my CPU cooler fan with one of them), so 3 in front, 1 in back, 1 on top & 1 on CPU cooler.
has anyone put a 360 rad in the front and if so, what mm was the rad you chose?
i have had this case for over a year with three fans at the front (intake) a 240 AIO at the top (exhaust) and a rear fan at the rear (exhaust) but i want to put a rad in the front with the fans but im wondering on what size 360 rad will fit due to the psu shroud gap being quiet small. if anyone can shed some light on this i would deeply apprecitate it :)
I've seen a 40mm one in at the front in some videos
I installed an Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 AIO in the front without issue.
Does it have space for cm hyper 212 and corsair vengeance ram so that they don't conflict with each other ?
Can't see a problem there - the 212 is a small cooler and should not conflict with any DDR4
Do you need low profile RAM to use a 280mm AIO?
That is correct
will a top mounted 280mm radiator clear the ram? I have corsair vengeance rgb ram and a kraken x63 and im worried it wont have enough clearance
No, you need low profile LPX to install a 280mm cooler.
@@KitGuruTech Hi, Corsair Vengeance LPX has 34.25mm height vs Crucial Ballistix with 39.25mm, both are labeled "low-profile".
Can someone please clarify if with the Ballistix it is possible to use a 280mm radiator on top like the example?
I have a Kraken X62 and the Ballistix ram and I'm very interested in the Corsair 4000D Airflow.
Cheers
@@llloralles I have the same problem! Have you found out this question?
@@KoToBo3Ka Too risky, I kept my NZXT H500 with radiator front mount. With my new 5800X, temps keep below 78ºc on full load, in long periods so I have no need for a new case. I'll try a new case with 280mm rad top mount when I'm shure it fits.
This was an excellent presentation. Thank you.
hows the temps if you move the aio to the front?
If you want to install an EATX you need to move the Shield in the back back a inch. I learned the hard way.
In essence it boils down to fans and RGB.
is the temp analysis done using the included fan and configuration or is it done with 3 fans at the front?
The two fans as supplied - one front and one rear - plus the two on the AIO cooler in the roof.
@@KitGuruTech so 1 in and 3 out
Is there enough room in the front for a 240mm radiator and fan with a 350mm gpu?
You can install a 360mm graphics card (the PNY is 314mm) so you will only have 10mm left for other hardware. 350mm is a huge graphics card!
only one usb connector on top? the only usb-c i use is on my phone, and it needs a normal usb to connect to... i would have bought this but my cheaper case has 3 usb, headphone, and mic.. this corsair has fewer usb, why?!
Can the hdd cage be adjusted back and forth to make room for psu??
Leo here: I didn't make a point of checking that but am going to say no. If you want more space, remove the cage completely.
@@KitGuruTech Alrite, thx
The white one should have better visibility on the glass
Did you remove the top air filter before you conducted your cpu thermal testing?
I don't think so. this guy has no idea what he's doing and is too old to understand the current style trends. This case is amazing... you can switch panels on the fly as well. Such an awesome, high airflow, minimalist case. Love it. My rtx 3080 agrees. Temps are low with increased fans. No one should ever use the included fans.
@@maddawgzzzz Feel free to link to one of your own reviews so we can see how things are done properly. So, you buy a case and throw away the fans? good move!
No, the filter is part of the case so removing it wouldn't make much sense. Airflow is fine.
Good review, no messing just straight info.... looking at getting this case (Airflow) to house my old Asrock gaming k6 mobo, 8700k and a 3090 FE ... Would a noctua NH-D15 fit in this with room at the top for a couple of fans anyone?
Wow, that ICUE 4000X RGB is a gorgeous case. Stick three Noctua in the front and I bet that would be decent airflow. I am suddenly regretting my Be Quiet 500DX purchase... damn.
... you mean buy the RGB case and replace the RGB fans with Noctua? Hmm, now that would be different.
It could be brilliant.
Fairly average temps there. A lot of cases out there for the same price doing a better job.
I mean, if that's all you look for in a case, sure. But when you want a premium feel and look, then you've gotta make some sacrifices. The temps are perfectly acceptable for the parts that are in it. Nowhere close to overheating and thermal throttling, so wheres the problem?
@@TheGauges420 The case is marketed as an Airflow Case. I'm just pointing out that usually targets temps on a lower scale and this isn't what i'm seeing from those charts.
which is the best 60 dollar cabinet with the best airflow ?
Are you kitten me? It was tested with literally one stock fan in the front.
Sean Clayton True ,people find a way to hate on something... In my opinion this case is really good compared to a lot cases and in terms of price. I was actually going to get the Nzxt h510 elite case but this is way better so I’m going with this and I already have 5 Corsair fans two so I’m only spending money on the case 👍
You should pair the new liquid coolers, commander core and do a full corsair build in it.
That power supply shroud is basically killing the bottom fan. Would have been better with a shorter one.
could you specify yay much room!?
Man, i wish they made it lil bit bigger to fit 360 on top as well. So i could fit dual 360 rads 😕
I just saw the Airflow version at my local Best Buy, Might consider upgrading from my 220T so I don't have to worry about GPU being to long whenever I finally get the chance to upgrade my GPU.
I had this issue with my new GPU I got the 6800 Radeon card and dude it's MASSIVE. I had to get this case because mine was simply too small
Front panel metal on the closed/airflow variants? I love the look of this case. Finally something clean with darker glass thats not Fractal. The IO is abit meager tho. Also Leo, put white leds behind the dark glass. Its classy af ;)
Yup metal front panels and glass on the RGB version.
@@KitGuruTech thanks, im buying the AF version :D
been disappointed with Corsair for a while now. My old case was Corsair Obsidian 750D. Very Beautiful case. Two new cases this year I got was the NZXT H510 cases cause they were affordable and looked nice enough.
Awesome Case 🔥 and great video ❤️
Still love my Antec P182se case but when I saw those filters!
Looks exactly like a meshify c but with more clearance for too 280mm rad in roof and in the front. With meshify c if you have a rad in the front max GPU length is 285mm
great review!
8:52 Shit, it's good. Back to the drawing board for my new build... 🙄
Bought the 4000D AIRFLOW model:
WONDERFUL
Replace the stock fans with 4 ML 120mm NON RGB (We are adults)
POLAR TEMPERATURES
I own the case and I am very *slightly* disappointed with it, the only reason for this is because G.Skill Trident Z (non-rgb) is apparently about a 1/4in too tall for me to mount my 280 AIO at the top of the case and its impossible to mount it tubes down at the front either. Airflow is very good and I've had 0 problems with cooling however is is a bit of a sore spot for me. If they'd made it a little bit taller or a little bit wider I'd be able to install my cooler how I'd originally planned.
We cover this in the review - a 240mm cooler is fine with tall RAM but a 280mm cooler requires low profile LPX RAM
MANY thanks for the video! Really very useful as I intended to buy one of these!
I do not know anything about hardware or even PC build, although researching parts to be chosen...
03:40 Does it mean I have no chance to vary fan speed? Is there any chance to change this, still using the fans that come with the case? Wouldn't I have best airflow and energy management if I varied speed according to the use?
Thanks, once again!
Liked and subscribed, of course.
this or fractal meshify c or metallic gear neo g?
I would get a Phanteks P400A, it's cheaper even the ARGB variant and can fit 3 fan GPUs easily like the ROG Strix, also comes with 3 fans meanwhile the Meshify comes only with 2 fans and 3 fan GPUs barely fit (and if you put a radiator at the front only smaller GPUs fit the space is so small...
That quote at the end made me giggle...
Well leo you got a new sub and you have also talk me in to buying this case im going for the mesh white case..
Good review! That gpu sag tho :D
You totally dominated that case.
Those stock corsair fans that come with the h100i arent exactly quiet.
its better then my nzxt h500 elite airflow case
