I had the 3 pro and I never knew it was to get an update SEVEN MONTHS ago and its still not here. So...yeah WearOS 4 coming out this year .. good luck with PRO 5 getting a update. It is odd no one is talking about that. Great review though
Very impressed with your fluency and packing the maximum amount of information in the shortest time. Your attention to detail is also very good. This is an evaluation on your presentation. I'm not sure about the watch at this time.
Wow, that alternate display (monochrome) is FABULOUS! That's all I want when I'm out on a run; I don't need all the colors, I need readability! And the fact that it can change based on your heart rate zone might be one of the coolest things I've seen on a watch. Being only three months in to my Pixel Watch, I'm glad this isn't yet available with LTE support, as I'd be SOOOOOO tempted! Thanks, Des. Enjoyable, as always.
Be aware the Mobvoi do not care about supporting their products. This watch will likely get very few if any software updates, with Wear OS 4 on the way this is bad. Do not expect this device to ever get OS4 or any other features it does not include out of the box. Also don't trust the waterproofing rating as Mobvoi devices tend to leak and Mobvoi usually won't honour the warranty for water damage. Really just get another brand. Mobvoi have some nice hardware features, but their quality is erratic, and their software support is awful.
Only review video I watched from the beginning till the end without skipping. It's concise and fast speed! + real use review and so much concise information
I had a ticwatch s2 and three ticwatch pro 3 watches. From my experience when mobvoi says something is coming take it with a pinch of salt. The ticwatch 3 was sold as getting wearos 3 but they never delivered. So don't expect to get the external hr support or google assistant. Although the last one is strange because I had google assistant on the pro 3. Also mobvoi build quality is really bad. I went through three pro 3 devices because they are not waterproof at all. So happy with my garmin fenix now. Won't touch a ticwatch again.
Never trusting Mobvoi again or buying their products ever again. They said wear OS 3 would come to the 3 Ultra and it still hasn't with no updates on progress or anything for years. Useless company.
Another add to this. With WearOS 4.0 on the horizon, you may feel like you are already behind by the time you pick one up. I have serious concerns with Mobvoi and their ability to update any products to the latest software. Since they run a reskinned version of WearOS to begin with, they may not have the will to spend their development dollars to meet consumer needs!
Love your stuff. However, there are a few more watches utilizing the updated Wear OS...Tag Heuer, Montblanc, and Citizen. While the Tag and Montblanc are likely not a huge target audience, they should be mentioned. Montblanc and Citizen have brutal battery life while Tag does a good job with the battery draining Wear OS.
I have a feeling this might not sell much cos most of TicWatch's customers are angry cos they never got any security or software update after October 2021. And whiles wear OS 3 has been available for long, the company is slow at updating the current wear OS for the Pro and Ultra Pro
Thanks for the excellent review. For health reasons having an accurate HR is essential to me. I currently use a Forerunner 245 plus external HR strap. Before I added the external HR the 245 diverted into cadence lock on every run, so frustrating. So that makes the Ticwatch P5 a nogo for me. I do like what they've done with the dual display and the smart watch features look great, but if it falls short on HR all the subsequent metrics are useless. I'm now leaning towards Garmin Venu 2 Plus which accepts HRM strap but is lacking in Firstbeat running metrics (I really like the recovery time on my FR245). Any case I'll wait to see what the new Samsung and Google Pixel watches bring to the table later this year. Am I missing any other candidates in the mid-range? Accurate HR and Amoled screen are my must haves.
Great review and is one of my considerations at the mo, thank you. I didn't pick up on any info on the auto-tracking feature? I think it only works for walking, running and cycling but would be nice to hear how well that worked in the wild. Cheers.
The only thing I have learned from my Tic Watch 3 was - never again a Mobvoi watch...no updates no support. Although I have to say that I am a person who isnt satisfied with all smartwatches out there and their poor battery lifes....so I will stick to a fitness watch until this problem might be solved in some years.
You forgot to mention the other Wear OS 3 watch from Mobvoi. The Ticwatch Pro 3 was released around 2 years ago with the promise of an update to Wear OS 3, so surely it must have been updated by now? Oh hang on, my bad. I just checked and it seems that Mobvoi never bothered to make good on that promise. They just left their customers hanging and released a new watch rather than release the update they said they would. I suppose the lesson here is that you can't trust Mobvoi to support their products after release. Stay clear of this watch if you care about software updates.
It’s only a watch it should be fine for the next three years and by that time it should be due for an upgrade. It has all the latest and greatest now and it’s not going to fade in the next two years. It will get security patches but software updates I am not sure, but don’t forget that the American govt is making it hard for many of these Chinese companies to buy software. We can’t just blame mobvoi when we know what’s going on. Just my opinion.
Beautiful review, super complete on the training part. From your experience, should i consider this watch as an upgrade from my Garmin Vivoactive 4?.. Thanks in advance :)

Hey Des, thank you so much for the review! Amazing as always, but i would like to know if youre willing to test out the xiaomi watch 2 pro. It has dual band gps, a suite of great sensors, awesome battery for wearOS, a good app and a loooot of sports mode, and the price is simply incredible! Im eager to buy one, but i really watch to know how accurate the gps and HR sensor are when compared to say the garmin 255
Amazing Review DesFit. I have a few questions about the Samsung Health and Watch comparison. I will need to re-watch the video to ask, thank you for your amazing review deep dive.
Great review as always Des! I'm considering getting this for my BF as an anniversary gift as he's getting into fitness and has an android so this might be the best watch for him at the moment!
Such a good review with many details, thank you! I have some questions for you: I currently have the TicWatch Pro 3, and I use it to record when I run, and it syncs it to Strava. With the Ticwatch Pro 3, doing so will give some inacurate numbers on Strava because of the different expectation of sampling rate. To fix that, I have to go to all of my runs in Strava, and manually change the "type of run" to "race", and there is no way to do it automatically. So my questions are: 1) Is there the same issue with the TicWatch Pro 5? 2) Is the issue solved with the "High performance" GPS profile? Thanks!
Does auto-pause work well during exercise? Because it works well with my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic during my mountain bike rides but it doesn't seem to work on my Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra. Nice review thank you
Good review DesFit. I have a doubt, I am trying to choose the best smartwatch that is very accurate in health monitoring (abnormal heart rates alerts, monitoring and stress alerts). I am between the Tic watch pro 5 or the Garmin Venu 2. Which would you recommend as the most accurate in that specs?
Looks a great watch but wouldn't connect to iPhone 13 Pro max.. Mobvoi health app didn't show the newer Pro 5 only Pro 3 in their drop down menu, Google wear OS was the same
The rotating button on the side is a bummer. Had a fossil with the button in the same position. Hit it accidentally all the time. It was a main reason why I got rid of it.
Thank you very much! I expected double GPS tracking battery life bc of the new chipset - as they advertised. Also missing dual frequency GPS is a shame, the older ticwatch is a better choice if u need one.
What is the measurement vertically including the band? It looked like the face is 48mm according to your horizontal measurement not including the crown, but Mobvoi says 50mm vertically, so not sure what that includes. Thanks
At the moment probably the Venu 2 Plus since it can pair with external HR monitors which would provide the best accuracy for functional training (wrist HR doesn't do well with those sort of activities).
Have you used the specific gym profiles on this watch? Like, are they actually useful or just gimmicky? As in does it provide any further insight to improve your exercise? I don't see it being more useful than knowing your HRV and VO2 max?
Can you use this with an iphone? I have a ticwatch 3 and wanting to upgrade but it sounded like you said it won't work at all with an iphone similar to the new galaxy watches.
Did you use watch connected to the phone? I find in my ticwatch 3 pro ultra in system excercise app that when I am connected to the phone the distance while runnig is messed up (like 30% more than real). Biking is good though.
Do you need to always manually start tic exercise to record VO2 max. I have tic motion on for auto-recognize exercise and it still doesn't automatically record. Any help ?
I owned the previous model of ticwatch bit it was to delicate. I had a bruise on the screen within a couple of months. Sent it in for warranty replacement and they honored it. A year later I dropped it on my night stand while switching bands and the whole screen went black. Never worked again had to toss it. I've dropped my samsung galaxy 4 and 5 many times from standing position onto the ground and.nothing happens to them. I'll skip this ticwatch thank you.
So, in the end this device is the best choice in its price range on average. Mobvoi probably lose on "big data" coming from users to upgrade capabilities in recovery and sleep times, and the support for BT or ant+ external devices could be helpful, but I see that it's quite complete even now.
Is there an option to use compass in essential mode? Please don't give me the answer without checking, because on the basis of that i am going to buy the watch Please also share the video of it if possible Thanks
i m using ticwatch pro 3. Never buy this watch .you will waste your money if you will .my problems 1) sensors don't always measure accurately 2) the push button is failed 3) battery life performance wears out quickly
It's probably not going to get it because it's not compatible with Qualcomm chip sets unfortunately thanks to Google. I don't know why Google is basically screwing over all their partners besides Samsung but it's driving me away from the platform entirely. I want the dual screen and voice assistant and that's not an option unless I stick to my current ticwatch pro 3. If I can't get both those things I'll probably just switch to amazefit so I can get a couple weeks where the battery life.
It's really just an issue of compatibility where WearOS is meant for Android and Apple WatchOS is meant for iOS. Garmin and COROS have a proprietary OS which can have cross compatibility.
The choice is Apple and their unwillingness to let anyone have a slice of the pie. They continuously change their os to make sure that they ARE incompatible with competing devices so if you want a true smartwatch (which Garmin and Coros don't) you MUST buy Apple's product, no one else. They've done it with smartphones for years. Why do you suppose it is so difficult (impossible?) for an Android phone to have iTunes capability? Don't blame Google and Samsung for Apple's greedy monopolistic structure.
Don’t buy it. I have the Ticwatch pro 3 pro. They promised updates but the last security update is back to 2021. No support. Nothing. It’s a pity.. so beautiful watch with no support no updates. Never again
No android assistant…..this watch never happened. Epic fail on the part of mobvoi out the box. Keep it Samsung and keep it simple. Mobvoi is way to far behind the curve to compete with the likes of Samsung and Apple, Google had to find this out the hard with the the Pixel watch…an epic fail on Googles part. Same thing will happen with this watch as well. No assistant onboard makes it a dumb watch not a smartwatch
Will never buy anopther garbage Tic Watch. My Pro 3 GPS never got any updates past Oct 2021. No Wear OS 3 update as promised despite having the most capable processor on the market. Strava no longer supported due to missing Wear OS 3 update. Google Assistant broken, can't make calls or send messages. The power button has now failed and I've gone back to Samsung. Mobvoi will happily take your money and abandon it's customers. Worst smart watch company out there. They flood TH-camrs with free product and paid endorsements to get you to buy their garbage product.
One of the biggest parts of the value of a product is the support that the company offers after purchase - here Mobvoi fail catastrophically! Broken promises, lack of security updates and closing forums where users are looking for help and feedback! I have a pro 3 ultra but will never buy from Mobvoi again because they give the attitude that once we have your money we don't care!

What’s the alternative? Having either iPhone OR android phones and compatible wearables, but not both?
Why buy ticwatch when you got 100x better and supported apple watches for iphones lmao
Does it still have Afib detection like the Pro 3?
I wanted the Pro 3 ultra for this but held off from the lack of update, now I can't see anywhere that the Pro 5 has the same feature...
Yes it does
Yes
Turns out not in the UK... looks like I'll be returning mine already.
Don’t buy it. I have the Ticwatch pro 3 pro. They promised updates but the last security update is back to 2021. No support. Nothing. It’s a pity.. so beautiful watch with no support no updates. Never again
The customer service doesn't exist, no updates, ever. That's all we need to know 😅
The extra display is garbage.and this is basically the pro 3. Maybe the pro 10 will have a better upgrade
Crown. It's a rotating crown.

Puts Samsung to shame and they have been around for longer and have a bigger R&D budget.
Overpriced piece of trash. A hundred bucks more than a 10 times better Samsung Watch 5 Pro.
But that watch is much better if you have a Samsung phone, which many people don't.
Agree samsung watch 5 pro is way better than this. I switched from twp 3 pro GPS to Samsung watch 5 pro lte. And happy with switch
but it doesn't look elegant..
You cannot compare this to the beauty of a pixel watch
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
One of the biggest parts of the value of a product is the support that the company offers after purchase - here Mobvoi fail catastrophically! Broken promises, lack of security updates and closing forums where users are looking for help and feedback! I have a pro 3 ultra but will never buy from Mobvoi again because they give the attitude that once we have your money we don't care!
