Sea monkeys seemed like pure magic to me as a little kid buying them with my pocket money haha. I thought they were actual little merpeople that I had created lol. I used to spend all day watching them with my magnifying glass, I used to actually think they looked like how they do on the box. I’ve always wished I could get that same feeling of magic back like how I felt as a kid, and this video definitely made me feel like that again!
andressa aguiar As someone of advancing years, I'd say that sometimes when you least expect it something will happen that does recreate the magic of childhood. It doesn't work to order and trying to make it leads to disappointment. But when the moments do happen the years fall away
When I was younger, I saw a seamonkey set at the pet store while we got bird food for my dad's parrot. The bright orange tank caught my attention and I liked the sunken ship. My mom told me what I was looking at and I asked if we could get it. She didn't give a kind explanation, my expectations were not high, I just thought it looked cool. After assuring my mom, yes I knew they wouldn't do anything, she let me have them. I followed the instructions and had some of that "new toy" feeling. It made me happy. I thought it was neat when they hatched, but this is where my seamonkey story becomes unique. I guess it was because I left the tank on the window sill, but they all died on day 3. All except Snow. Since there was only one now, I could name her. I called her Snow because she was white. I moved the tank away from the window and had Snow for almost a week. Then, how I know Snow was a girl was that one day after about a week, I woke up to find five new baby seamonkeys in there with Snow. She must've laid eggs I guess. The babies got big and I couldn't tell which one was Snow anymore but I did like them. After a day or two I think Snow died because I counted 5 instead of 6 one morning. I was a bit sad, but hey, I knew she was a seamonkey. Her kids lasted another week before they started dying off. The whole thing lasted less than a month, but it's stayed with me.
That reminds me when I got 5 tiny fish at once and i named them goldy, holdy, foldy, toldy, and moldy. All of them died in a bout half a year cuz they’re fish, but moldy survived for about 5 more years.
They die pretty quickly after they have babies. Although my tank lasted a whole summer. I don’t think you killed them by leaving it in the window sill, unless the tank got way too hot.
Nice video. The real name of the species is brine shrimp (artemia salina). Just in case someone wants further information. They will get babies and / or lay eggs. It depends... and tey are best fed with algae powder, but yeast will keep them going as well.
SlumpJesus I tried 3 times and I got nothing. my kits did not say anything about putting salt in the water. on this video they say to put saltwater in the water. is that what they look like? I was expecting something bigger.

Yeah, I been getting random weird videos too. Many old video have suddenly been popping up. Anyway, sea monkeys was like an 80's and early 90's thing. They are a type of shrimp.
Omg I had them too, many years ago. I was 9,maybe 10, and I think my parents got it for me as a Christmas gift. I've always been a huge fan of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, so these little guys were really fascinating for me. When I proudly told the other kids at school about it, they thought it was boring to watch these little ones swim around all day. But not for me. Maybe it was not only my fascination, but also the fact that I didn't have any real friends for many many years. Some of the kids were nice, but no one actually wanted to be a close friend of mine, most of them bullied me and made fun of me for various reasons, in fact. But these little guys, they distracted me from this fact. They were always there for me, in my room on the lower shelf, and every time I felt sad, I just had to look at them or feed them a little and I immediately felt better. So this video brought all the childhood feelings and memories of my little prehistoric pets back ❤️

You know, I never though Sea Monkeys were cool, even as a kid. I never thought anything was special about having a bunch of little micro bugs swimming in a water that you can't see. I still feel that way towards Sea Monkeys. But, the setting, camera shots and even music selection made this moment feel really superb. I saw a comment saying that it felt like a Pixar short, it does. It gave a nostalgia that I never had. That's pretty damn impressive, my friend. Keep up the good work.

However when they finally did. I remember feeling so.... underwhelmed. They were small and tiny and didn’t resemble monkeys at all. I loved this video. I am a 47 year old mother of 3 but this fascinated me as if I was a seven year old girl once again. Opening my first package of sea monkeys that had been delivered in MY NAME by the postman back in 1979. I was thrilled then and I am thrilled now. A beautiful gift for an inquisitive kid.
This product made such an impact on me as a child. I was enthralled. I still look for it, and now noticing them on a youtube movie (Better Off Dead), I pause that movie and looked up "Sea Monkeys" once again. Found this video and I was transported back to my childhood. Thanks! :)
Sea monkeys are actually a modified type of brine shrimp that can with stand extreme dry conditions. When you put the "eggs" in the tank they are rehydrate back to life. Pretty cool.
For anyone that doesn’t know the first packet that’s labeled “water purifier” is actually the eggs, that’s why they say you have to wait a day, since when sea monkeys are first hatched you can’t really see them. The second packet instead of being the eggs is a blue colorant that’s used to see the eggs better.
I had the exact same tank when I was 10! Though in my case my brother and sister poured them down the drain because they thought it would be funny to see my reaction cause they were cruel, malicious people even when they were children. Thanks for bringing back some childhood memories!
As a kid we were so poor, we had to raise sea monkeys for our food. I loved mine grilled medium rare with some wild onion and crispy cattail stalks from the swamp. Talk about good eatin!
Got some of those in a surprise packet as a kid. I was so excited to see them moving. Gave them a lot of bred cause I thought they were hungry. One morning I woke up and nothing was moving anymore. I was traumatised. Rip poor little ones ❤
