I’m 40, I hope they know the value they added to the lives of my generation.... saw & met them up & down the country, songs & scenes of my life. Legends. Big love to them x
I’m 29, and my generation has had a lot of value from OCS, I can only hope the kids now get it too My friend died and his funeral was today, he was 40 when he died and he took me in when I was 16, when I had basically nobody, taught me about art music style everything I owe a solid 50% of who I am and what I’ve achieved to just him and bands like OCS I don’t really dress like a mod these days but I truly believe once you’re a mod, you’re always a mod, it doesn’t leave you We had a party with his close friends afterwards and we all had a big hug and a cry to this song What this band has done for our friendships is indescribable
Others will always say Blur and Oasis are the bands of the 90's , for me always and forever it will be these guys. First job, first car, first flat, all done to the sound track of Moseley Shores. Great times!
I think Oasis were better, had more punch, HOWEVER, MOSELEY SHOALS is the most complete album I’ve ever listened to. Forget RUMOURS, PET SOUNDS, LED ZEP I II III IV ETC… I had the cd of MS in 1996 when I underwent my 4/6 heart operations to date - it was all I needed! ❤
Princess food , the exactly the same, since we came down from motherwell to Hammersmith palai. Early nineties... They blew us away n this was them honing their craft.. And craftmen of music ,brother n sistahood they sing from beyond the soul xtc
Although I listen to Moseley Shoals over and over back in the day , I missed getting caught up in the whole OCS . We'd just had twins and life was pretty hectic. I'm now 24 years later catching up on what I put to one side back then . Went to see OCS last week in Birmingham my home city ..They were unbelievably fantastic and probably the best live band I've ever seen in regards of sounding like I was listening to the album's and not a live performance.. Love you my fellow Brummies..KRO 💙
Love Our Welsh 🏴 Band... This My Favorite Song...Brings Chill's The Words Certainly Hit Home Love You Guy's ❤ I 41 Your Awesome Many Year's Listening To You
As someone who identifies as a Goth, I take offence to that. OCS are one of my favourite bands. It’s a shame that some people that like them - people like you - can be so fucking ignorant.
beautiful song this.. I'll be at their Dublin gig at the #OlympiaTheatre on #Dec6th.. Can't wait for it now.. It's been a hell of a long time comin' for me personally..
Silas Lang hey there.. Apologise for the late reply. I didn't see it til I returned to my Google+ account.. very sorry indeed Silas.. As for the gig,? It was brilliant if I can use that word for it. They are a very fine live act. It was one of the best nights of my life even though I had to go straight to work afterwards. I would love to see them again asap but I don't know when they'll be touring this way again. They are loved here in my country, IRELAND. How about you my friend. Have u ever seen these guys live??
Silas Lang I don't know about the OCS over Oasis thing rho my friend. I have to admit that Oasis was the 1st band I truly found splice with in the 90's.. "Definitely Maybe" & "What's the Story, Morning Glory" are 2 of the greatest albums ever made IMHO. They never reached those heights again musically IMO but that's just my opinion pal. Ocean Colour Scene are one of the best bands of all time IMHO though. The 1st album of theirs I bought was "Mosely Shoals" but it was cassette in 1996 on my way through Heathrow Airport coming home to Dublin. At the time most ppl where I lived in Dublin didn't listen to this style of music. They were all into doing E and raving and thought I was a hairbag. That's what they called anybody who listened to Oasis or OCS and their ilk. It took a while for them to come around but I changed their minds and they love this music so much so now that rave is dead to them. Funny thing is now I go to raves now and can't get NY of them to go with me. I still love this music though. Always will.. laters pal. good talking to u..
In 96 I was listening to Thin Lizzy Still am , oasis never done Jack for me . Later years I put time into OCS , great vocalist and a tight sound . Every generation has it's voice and oasis have British rock in the 90s covered . Easy target in my opinion haha . Take care out there 🍀
When you're starting to choke take some pills with your coke It's inspirational When your life is a mess light one more cigarette It's so logical Well it's something your mother can't abide But it's something that I freely prescribe Take yourself for a ride It never felt so good As the night that you and I played robin hood Stealing from the backrooms of my mind Remembering a time when we were five A time I thought we'd left behind When I'm starting to cry Come and sit by my side I will love you so And when nightmares come I will try to be fun, even though; I'm so scared you know Well it's something your mother can't abide But it's something that I freely prescribe Take yourself for a ride It never felt so good As the night that you and I played robin hood Stealing from the backrooms of our minds Stealing from a time when we were five A time I thought we'd left behind Stealing from the backrooms of our minds Stealing from a time when we were five A time I thought we'd left behind When you're starting to choke take some pills with your coke It's hysterical
Luna Cloud Stealing from the back rooms of our minds, Remembering a time when we were five.. I love the lyrics to this song.. it's such a beautifully written piece tbf.. Thanks for the lyrics again my friend, it reminded of the live performance at the Olympia in Dublin.. I will never forget that gig as long as I live.. awesome couple of hours spent with ppl I love..
I found this song on a homemade cassette album, it played at the beginning of the OK computer album by radiohead. It was probably accidentally put in there but at least I found this song because of it
I’m 40, I hope they know the value they added to the lives of my generation.... saw & met them up & down the country, songs & scenes of my life. Legends. Big love to them x
So so true, huge part of our younger years. Christmas 2020 and this throws me back to the good old days. Wish everyone well for the future.
I don't think they know, honestly. I just watched Simon and Oscar in Lincoln, so humble and just so amazing.
I’m 29, and my generation has had a lot of value from OCS, I can only hope the kids now get it too
My friend died and his funeral was today, he was 40 when he died and he took me in when I was 16, when I had basically nobody, taught me about art music style everything
I owe a solid 50% of who I am and what I’ve achieved to just him and bands like OCS
I don’t really dress like a mod these days but I truly believe once you’re a mod, you’re always a mod, it doesn’t leave you
We had a party with his close friends afterwards and we all had a big hug and a cry to this song

When you're starting to choke take some pills with your coke
It's inspirational
When your life is a mess light one more cigarette
It's so logical
Well it's something your mother can't abide
But it's something that I freely prescribe
Take yourself for a ride
It never felt so good
As the night that you and I played robin hood
Stealing from the backrooms of my mind
Remembering a time when we were five
A time I thought we'd left behind
When I'm starting to cry
Come and sit by my side
I will love you so
And when nightmares come
I will try to be fun, even though;
I'm so scared you know
Well it's something your mother can't abide
But it's something that I freely prescribe
Take yourself for a ride
It never felt so good
As the night that you and I played robin hood
Stealing from the backrooms of our minds
Stealing from a time when we were five
A time I thought we'd left behind

Great Song And Lyrics are Brilliant, is The Song written about someone do anyone know?
Great song, one of my faves. Not sure if it's about anyone in particular. As far as I'm aware it's about taking acid.
