How is it disgusting? It's greyhounds doing what they do best - you only need to have a greyhound to know how much they enjoy that kind of thing. The only thing that's cruel about this kind of sport is if the animals are breed or kept cruely, but since niether of those things are featured in this video I cant see what you find so bad about it
Boy the Irish sure know how to race greyhounds! Got a retired Florida Track Greyhound and I run him on grass for fun, he's really fast and I bet he would love to get a chance to race the hare!
As there is no actual proof that either of these animals are being mistreated, or have been mistreated, it would be biased to immediately assume that they were being treated so. There are two sides to every story, and not every animal involved in this kind of "sport" is mistreated. I also have a rescued greyhound, and I know that he would enjoy taking part in something like this possibly more than anything else I can think of, besides hunting - it is just what is in their nature
Im not denying those facts for a second - and I completely agree that the treatment many animals recieve is horrendus. However what is shown in this video is not in my opinion
Why is it that those with the least knowledge are those who speak loudest and with most authority. Be interesting to see where you get your food from when the banks collapse and the supermarkets are empty.......'what do you mean you're out of tofu!!!'..hilarious.
because i course and have been to plenty of these events, they dont accept any hares that are physically harmed in any way, and most respectable clubs will do tests on the hare to make sure its not harmed in any way the hares are 100% healthy.
@syclone1931 people like that just need something to destroy because they have no life and need something for their ego to latch onto. dog racing is a sport of kings a sign of sovereignty that nobody has the right to tell another person what is right or wrong for them , just don't partake in the event if you don't like it.
I love ALL animals. But in this story, there is nothing abnormal! Rabbits don't get hurt, they escape. That is normal for them - to run away from predators, that is not stressing situation for them, THAT is normal every/day/situation for rabbits!!! They get over it fast. If it WASN'T normal situation for their hearth, they would fell in shock, or get a hearth attack....
This is interesting.. I've never seen Greyhounracing with a real rabbit, and I'm curious, the bigger races, with the track and everything, are dangerous because the dogs trip on eachother and hurt themsleves and such, but with only two of them at a time, in a straight running line, doesn't seem too bad to me.. plus the muzzles prevent the rabbit from getting hurt.. this seems like a much safer, more enjoyable way for them to race.. right..?
Racing and LURE-Coursing are not a blood-sports. Rabbit/Hare/Fox/etc-Coursing IS. This of course was a RACE using a lure. if it had sharp turns on pullies, it would be Lure-Coursing. Greyhounds are big and long, and are better at RACING... like here. Whippets and other smaller sighthounds are better at lure-coursing because they corner much better than greyhounds.
Sorry mate but you're tragically misinformed. The vast majority race to well beyond 3 sometimes 4 or even 5 if they're still quick. And hanging from a tree! what utter bollocks, the greyhound re-homing community is one of the best supported dog lovers network in the world, and very many are taken on by their owners at the end of their careers, into loving homes, as do those that are adopted.
Yah the hare won't get hurt but it doesn't know that. In its mind it's running for its life and it's terryfied. Picture urself in a cage with a snake whose poison glands have been removed but you don't know that.
Several thousand young greyhounds get killed every year just for not being fast enough, on top of the mistreatment and injuries very common in this "sport". My greyhound loves to run too, and I have no problem letting her run whenever she wants. I don't need to have her chase a rabbit, or have people wager on the outcome of a race.
@@bdfunke wrong again i,ve adopted 5 ex racers so far , but there are thousands who don,t even make the grade and are killed , i agree a lot of the ex racers get adopted but there is still a large number that don,t
@@Mark-qw4tu I’m on my sixth racer. Thanks to activists here in the states, there are far fewer hounds available. Now agencies are turning to Ireland to get them. If they are killing them in Ireland, they are missing an opportunity.

Can someone tell me how many meters is the track? please 🙏 no one ever answers
Wow, incredible animals!
Funny how people actually can be so certain that they know how animals think/feel/react.
A compelling insight into natural born preaditory hunting. Run rabbit run! Exellento.
Seems be more interesting than the greyhound Park's and its only 1 VS 1 not 8 Dogs , Somebody knows a page to see more about it.
Rofl I dont know whats going on but this looks awesome.
is this clonmel racecorse
If you think the dog are fast (they are!), there is a hare way ahead of them.
Woah! Look at those guys RUN!!!!!!

people are really dumb? COURSING IS NOT A 'BLOOD SPORT' they have muzzles and did u see that hare or rabbit die? no
iyi koşmuşlar
Rabbits are not less..wow
wow speed
because you choose to ignore what made it possible
how is it animal abuse when the hare is never harmed?

The Spanish race a breed of dog called Galago Espanol and they lunch their dogs, break their legs and other cruel things when their finished racing.

Wrong. Hounds who fail are simply retired and adopted out. Stop spreading misinformation.
You know nothing about the greyhound racing industry.

POBRE COELHINHO
pasamer tu face
Tired of these dumb comments. Dogs don't just use teeth to kill. The hare is defiantly in physical danger.
There are many forms of abuse...Picture yourself in the place of the hare and you'll see what I mean...
im only in with hunting dogs and cats
Pena que matam os cachorros apos atingirem uma certa idade pois nao conseguem ser tao rapidos como eram :c
That’s not true
rabbits are even faster than them
They are not faster, but they are smaller and more effective, and probably has better acceleration, but the dogs are faster.
Engoy agree
So because the cruelty inherent to this "sport" is not being shown, that makes it OK? I have a rescued greyhound, and I find this video disgusting.
You didn’t rescue your hound because it was never in danger. I’ve been adopting retired racers for 25 years. I should know.
Very bad
ANIMAL ABUSE BY THE "HIGH" CLASS...
