    Always cut towards your chum,
    Never cut towards your thumb,
You can always get another chum,
But you cannot get another thumb.

My first 8-track was Rare Earth - I'm losing you. My first pen was a Kaweco Sport Blue. My first ink was Pilot Black. My first meal was milk. Sharing time is over. Thanks.

Glad they brought the purple back, I’m still using my purple 580 AL limited edition from a few years ago, love the colour. I def prefer the brighter version, but I’m sure they will fly out.

I love these pens. This will be my 3rd AL(R): nickel gray & emerald so far. And that mug! I would totally rock that mug. And, of course, the ALR Purple.

Thanks for the details! I so wish I had the budget for the ALR purple. The grip on my standard AL is too slippery for long writing sessions, plus I love purple, so it would be ideal.

Hopefully we get another shipment, but at least the normal ALR is a regular offering. Feels great in-hand! - Colin

I bought the ALR Purple, and it's my favorite TWSBI pen. I like bright purple, but I also really like the understated purple on this pen. I usually take a classic black pen of one make or another to meetings, to anything business related, but I took the ALR Purple to one, just to see what would happen. It caught everyone's attention, and was a real conversation starter.
The only thing that would make it a better pen would be an 18k nib that doesn't hide the gold under some sort of plating. But the steel nib on mine is even smoother than the TWSBI nibs on my other pens, and they're all good. I like the grip, too.

Thanks for reviewing the TWSBI purple. I have 4 TWSBIs they are great pens and good conversation starters. The purple colour isn't strong enough for my liking it's more like a weak lilac. (My Opinion)
I think a TWSBI T section AL would be a cool pen to market.
Thanks for what you do there.
    Best wishes to all PenPeople

My first compact disc was original recordings of the Glen Miller Orchestra, and also Cream and Mannheim Steamroller. I do have the Tubthumper album which I always got a kick out of.

Curious about the ALR - it's a FAQ but there seem to be a billion answers. If you do wipe off the grease from the piston rod on an ALR, what is a good choice of lithium grease to re-coat it? If anyone has good recommendations then I'm sure lots of folks would be interested. All I can find on FPN are flame wars.

    Uh-oh, Brian has a Benchmade. 940 Osborne?
Very nice, I have always admired that design, and the Axis Lock is highly appealing.
However, now I'm going to have to go on a tangent about how Sal Glesser and Spyderco are the pinnacle of the cutlery industry.
If you're going to have fancy sharp things you MUST own one example of the Spyderco Military, probably the most iconic folding knife design besides the Chris Reeve Sebenza.
The Mili is the ultimate in size to weight ratio, low profile, perfect blade geometry, and the best example of the Liner Lock on the market (which is not to say the Liner Lock isn't still a finicky design, as is any Framelock by association of basic design principles, but Spyderco put more effort into proper execution of the Liner Lock mechanism on the Military than any other factory made knife, and it's probably a better example than 90% of custom liner locks as well).
The Spyderco Military is one of those things that hits closer to practical perfection than just about any other design.
If you can't carry a 4" folder of course the Para 2 or Para 3 are excellent alternatives and have their own fanbase.
Sal also made social media part of the core of his business about a decade before "Social Media" as we know it even existed.
Spyderco is a community as much as a company, Sal and Brian have a lot in common there.

    • @PatrisDev
      @PatrisDev 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Looks more like a Pardue.
And I don't believe Brian is actually a knife guy, you might be fanboying just a bit too much 😅 even if Spyderco is an excellent brand.

I'm really itching for a 580 in turquoise or a vac 700. But I've had bad and rude customer service expirence from twsbi so that throws me off.

That's surprising to hear as I've only heard positive and helpful things from customers with TWSBI, but each case is different! Definitely think it'd be worth another shot, going through a retailer can help any issues too. - Colin

Here I go, here I go, here I go again!
    Girls what's my weakness?
    PENS!
OK, then. Chillin', chillin', mindin' my business
Yo Salt I looked around and I couldn't believe this
I swear, I stared, my niece, my witness
The brother had a pen with some kinda
uh, wicked, wicked, had to dip it
I'm not shy so I asked for the stub nibs
A ho? No that don't make me
    See what I want slip slide to calligraphy . . . .

I guess a frustration I have with the fountain pen industry. Most companies don’t come out with anything new, the just make the same pen and make it a different color. Yes, I know why they do it. But do something new, not just the same color and call it a new name. Twisbi , and especially Lamy exploit this strategy to the extreme. That’s, take. I know, who asked me?

    • @Gouletpens
      @Gouletpens  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Completely understand, at least TWSBI came out with the GO last year. That said, the consumer does play a part as well. LAMY introduced the Aion maybe 2 years ago and has yet to really pick up and sell well. Yet, the new colors of Safari/AL-Star grab a lot of the sales. - Colin
