I got mine Saturday, which went to my friend. Met her at B&N on Sunday. She got Navy by Noodler’s. A perfect ink for this pen! I love it! I got a medium nib too!
Hey Amanda, just a thought, if you want to try a TWSBI nib size, instead of buying a whole duplicate Ben, just but a nib unit and swap it out. With TWSBI Pens it is so easy to swap and change parts. At least that is what I did or buying the next special colour in a different nib size. Oh, thanks for the lovely videos. Keep up the excellent work
This is a perfect dark blue! I wish I liked the 580 more, because this would totally be my aesthetic. I will just have to enjoy looking at yours at least twice. 😹✒️💙💙🖋

It was between the Twsbi Navy and the twsbi Vac700 r IRIS for the invisible friend gift. I finally opted for IRIS. I'm looking forward to gift-giving day
You can't go wrong with either. I have both. The Iris has an excellent nib with an option to close off the ink chamber for traveling/flying. Your friend will love the pen.

Im torn on which nib to get I want to use it to draw and write but the medium looks soo good with writing in your style and the extra fine looks so good for sketching. Ive been pulling my hair tring to decide😭. I might get the fine nib
I'm not a big fan of them either - harder to clean versus a converter. I got the 580ALR because I can get a syringe in there and flush it out. I usually fill this pen with a syringe or a pipette.
Ooh I completely understand that! I’m too far in the rabbit hole to go back now. 😂 I get them when it releases in case they decide it’s a special edition so I do t have to pay an arm and a leg later when I decide I have to have it. I like the ink capacity, and this one has a specific purpose! 😍
I've given away all my cartridge and 'converter' pens, and now have only full-bore pistons, vac fillers, and eye-droppers with shut-off valves. Same rabbit den, different hole.
@@MarshaLove0723 Harder to clean over a converter!? Do you know you have a wrench included in the box to open up the pen? Just remove the piston and flush water directly through it. That is much easier to clean than twisting and untwisting a knob of a converter or using syringes to get into the barrel over and over until the water comes clear.
I passed on this one. As much as I love the 580, the textured grip of the ALR is enough to make me not buy it. I hardly ever use the Prussian Blue I have. However, I ordered a swipe with a stub nib, and I actually really like that one LOL I've also had one of those ink pots for idk, years, and never used it , good gracious !
I 100% understand passing on it!! I actually prefer the AL's to the ALR's, but I don't think they make AL's anymore. LOL PLus, I missed out on one one and decided I wanted it when it was "too late" and paid way too much for it, so that's why I just get them now. it's cheaper for me to just pick it up instead of skipping it and deciding I NEED IT. I collect Ecos and 580s. I've just resigned myself to that now. LOL
@@inksplat I agree that if it was a deep purple, I'd totally buy it LOL Instead, I ended up ordering a Vac. I don't have any of their vac ones so I figured that made more sense than getting the Navy
It might be possible to swap the ALR grip section with a non-textured 580 grip section. You would still have the Navy blue accents in most of the rest of the pen - but not the textured part. Personally, I generally stick with clear. But I have gotten two or three Diamond ALs with color - but I was really buying a Pendleton’s Pens Butterline-stub customization, and the pen came with it.😊 I do not regret the color purchase at all - but Inkspat is right: the colors complicate the follow on decisions about what inks to use, etc. Life is simpler with clear demonstrators. 😊
There is competition to your ALR 580 Navy, as TWSBI will be launching a ALR 580 Black with gunmetal trim in a few days, which will also showcase your midnight blue ink.
Thanks for this video. I just bought this pen secondhand in the Prussian Blue M nib. Now that you've had the pen for a couple of years, are you happy with it? Any issues?
so, TWSBI black is my favorite black - I like how viscous the black ink is, and it's super flowy, and I just love it, but I wanted a blue that was just like that ink, and their initial blue offerings suck (imo). When Midnight Blue came out, I was freaking out because it seemed different from the other TWSBI blues, and like it was going to be exactly what I wanted... TWSBI Black, but make it blue. I got exactly what I wanted, so that's why I like it. LOL :)

Thanks for watching my video. :) I also don’t think it’s necessary to make a video for every single color release… however, people who have been around here for a while know I’m probably going to be getting the pen, and I know those people want to see what it looks like. Sometimes it’s easier for people to make a decision once they see it “in person” in a video rather than in a still marketing photo that’s been edited from here to the heavens. I’m getting it anyway, I might as well show people what it looks like. That said, I appreciate your feedback. You have lots of thoughts so I hope you decide to take the time to make the content you really want to see. I’d love to see what you come up with!

Just got mine, because of the color ^^ and immediately paired it with Diamine Arabian Nights because I love shimmering inks in clear body pens :-)

I'm still debating about this pen. I'm not a fan of piston fillers even though both TWSBIs I have in my collection write beautifully.
