    The Prestige Tour features a rubber collar located at the junction between the grip and the throat of the racket, which deteriorates and comes off over the years. However, the Prestige Classic has a hard plastic collar that is significantly more durable.

    My holy grail is a Donnay Pro One in the original yellow and blue. I’m a huge Andre fan and it was the first racquet that I used that wasn’t a hand me down. I also look for Pro Staffs and older model Radicals. Last year I found the original Bumblebee Radical at a used sports store for only 28 dollars

    To the racquets mentioned in the video I would add.
    ProKennex Black Ace 98 (80's) , Dunlop Max200G, Rossignol f200 (Mats Wilander), Wilson T2000 Jimmy Connors and of course the Dunlop Maxply Fort and the Wilson Jack Kramer were two of the most iconic wooden racquets.

      I found Wilson Jack Kramer autograph from the dumpster back in the 2014. It's the excat same model that Dimitrov used in Tennis TV's Time travel challenge against Rublev in Monte Carlo last year.
      It's in good gondition strung with gut. It was thrown to dumster because it's old and they needed space for new equipment in our university's sports department.
      Found 7 other wooden rackets too.

    I also used the Puma Boris Becker racquet they showed. Misconception though was, like Harry said, that you could make it longer. You couldn't! You could only make it shorter. I played around with that screw in the buttcap a lot, and I remember a slight disappointment because of that. You could only make it longer after you had shortened it first! So it really was a useless 'feature'. You had to keep it at standard length, of course.

    Yamaha Margaret Court Pro. No idea what the male counterpart was called but a 95 in head or slightly smaller. It was made from this space age material called FRP. You laugh but Fiber Reinforced Plastic was a major revelation for the industry in ohhh 1976 I'll say. I must say when you found the sweetspot the racket whipped the ball and vibrated in your hand as if to silently say hey buddy nice hit!, the challenge was Finding The Sweet Spot which was very tiny so that perfect hit didn't come that often. But what a thrill when you actually did find it. The ball actually exploded off the frame, not joking either it was very obvious the stealthy injection of pace was phenomenal indeed! I only wish I had one today now that my technique is far better than in 1976! 😂
    Good show guys went through a set of remote batteries on rewind 🤭

    Not an expert but the original POG without grommets did have a head shape like the one shown.
    Guessing also the Heads have a plastic piece that wraps around top of handle. Have seen these on older Heads.

  • @WaltKurtz68
    @WaltKurtz68 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Remember the HEAD Prestige Classic 600? (speaking of holy grail racquets!...) The GRIP was finished at the top with a plastic kind of 'collar' (google a pic to see what I mean), that tapered down from the width of the grip to the width of the frame. I think they used that too for these racquets shown here by Harry and Rob. The owner probably messed around with the grip (many changed the 'suspension grip' out to normal pallets) and removed the collar in doing that.

    Boys... In my time the Pro Kennix Micro Ace was a doosie... Thin framed racket with a high number of thin strings. Can't remember how many strings it had but I remember how precise it was but being so thin the frames would crack when put under stress.... Thoughts ??

      Just my take on your Dr 98 Harry. Friend bought one absolutely loved it he was swinging out of his shoes with it. So yes glorious racquet with kryptonite built right in for too many proud Dr 98 owners. ACUTE tennis elbow. This stick was made when frame dampening was the coming killer tech. I think Yonex went into full damage control REPUTATION WISE. The flaw caught Yonex off guard because symptoms showed up later as opposed to early. That's very likely why the replacement racket the next season was so poor. Yonex simply did not see the Dr 98 flaw coming so they were caught off guard with a replacement racket of quality.
      Years ago on one show you showed a particular fondness for the Head IX 6. Well consequently I got one in a thrift store for dirt cheap of course and I could not believe how wonderful the forehand played with a full Western grip. It was astonishingly easy! Unbelievable easy power deep into the court every time. Unfortunately it got stolen so I hunch somebody else knew the value! But it's high on my list for a thrift store capture again trust me! 👍👋🎾

    You know some people say poly goes dead, I think it can be the opposite depending on some type of poly strings, maybe some factory added a kind of chemical to make the string try to revert to its tension or become tighter when not playing so the string work itself to be tight back to it's tension or a tighter feel. if a poly goes dead, it wouldn't try to squeeze that prince graphite racquet, lol.

    • @bengray5013
      @bengray5013 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That’s not how physics works. What happens is as strings go dead they go brittle and cut into each other so it would appear to have a higher tension but it doesn’t. It’s just the strings stop moving.
