I find working with floss to be pain more often than not. I noticed you were using a magnifier with a light. I have been looking for one but the ones I’ve found are large and overwhelm my small tying bench. That one looks to be smaller. What make is it?
you might want to look at some other instructional fly tying video and see the correct way to insert the hook in the jaws of the vise. this is an imortant thing to point out to peopleas the poinet and the barb are used as mesure ment points, so its impotrant to have the hook in the vise correctly. Only been tying for 51 yrs!! just trying to help Mate.
As the tier states in the video, acetate floss is made up of very fine strands which if come into contact with the hook point or barb will tear it to shreds and that is why, for this fly, he positions the hook in the vise this way as it protects/prohibits accidental contact.
If you had paid attention (I know it's tough for you old timers), he specifically stated that he was hiding the hook point so as not to catch the floss. 😂😂😂
