An unlikely hero Labradford Smith (Averaged less than 10pts that season) outscored MJ 37pts to 25pts in a Bulls home game one day prior. Needless to say, MJ was pretty embarrassed by the situation. So in the next day he tried to top Smith's 37pts in the first half, he was 2pts short of that, scoring 36pts in the first half. With the huge lead, Phil took him out in the 3rd quarter, MJ finished with 47pts.
