@@yoshikay8787 that's actually the problem in a way. It is much more difficult to watch than singles because the pace is too fast. The point construction in doubles happens very quickly and can fall apart just as quickly. However, if the point ever does somehow reach a neutral state, its almost a guaranteed highlight because at that point the entire court is covered and the pace slows down enough to appreciate things.

Honestly, they didn't really put doubles "on the map"... more like they were the last true doubles stars this sport has seen and likely will see for the foreseeable future. Doubles used to be way more popular back when all the top stars would play, but that isn't where tennis is at these days.

@@pkoppula They weren't brothers. Woodbridge and Woodforde. But yeah they won Wimbledon 5 times in a row in the 90s. Then Woodbridge won it 3 more times with Bjorkman after Woodforde retired. Epic.

Unbelievable ball recovery by Nadal, hitting the ball even in backward is amazing. Also the Brian’x 2 and Djoko and Murray rally is good!😂😂😂

Doubles are so underrated. ATP should take a brave approach and disrupt how doubles are promoted and played. First step could be to play doubles BETWEEN singles tournament. People just don't have time to watch doubles during GSs and Masters. But fans would love to watch doubles in-between big singles tournaments.
Fully agree. It is such an amazing sport. And at most clubs it is more popular than singles...
I couldn't agree more. I'd much rather watch doubles (mixed, women's men's) than any singles match.

it's worth noting that some of these doubles teams are so good that when davis cup is played, these guys would beat the top two singles players from countries like Spain, so it's not just that they're only getting by from the singles players not playing, they do earn their rights to doubles dominance
