I only just now realized that, at 34:19, I said the voice acting makes "already not-funny jokes, less not-funny", which implies the voice acting makes them funnier. That is not what I meant (I meant that they make the already not-funny jokes even less funny), and I don't know how I didn't notice this error until now. Oops.
Honestly, when I hear CRT's voice, I can't help but picture a poor man's Handsome Jack, and that just kind of makes some of the dialogue entertaining in some wierd sense, for me.
Don't really see the correlation between Silicon Valley and Balan, but hey, any excuse to once again beat that puddle that used to be a dead horse, right?
Oh HECK YEAH! it's a short game but *so* strong in atmosphere, thanks to both the art direction (not just character designs, but also the weapons you can craft) and the music. Also the final boss setting is one of the craziest i've ever seen in a 3D platformer.
It was a good game, I remember being stuck in the volcano area for ages because I didn't know you had to stay on one of the buttons in order to progress. I loved the wacky food theme guns.
23:59 this is almost certainly referencing the Dark world from Terranigma, which is a highly underrated ARPG from the company thay made illusion of gaia.
I remember liking Curse of the Were-Rabbit, but it's been YEARS since I played it, so I can't say for sure if I'd enjoy it now, definitely worth a look at some point in the future.
Didn't expect to see a re-review of Skylar and Plux. I personally loved the original review a lot, but this revisit's neat. Sad to see that Wallace and Gromit, despite being a spectacular show, got a less than stellar game. I wonder what other obscure 3D platformers Ben will cover in the future. By the way, if you see this Ben, will you ever do another personal recommendation? You kind of stopped doing that after the Ristar video.
I adore 3d platformers new and old sooo this vid is extra fun. I like you mention Toree 3d...such bite sized fun games. Love your vids; I grew up with the ps1 so your vids also help me find "new" old school stuff!
This was a neato video! Definitely want to give that Macbat 64 game a try at some point, sounds fun. Especially as someone who grew up with the Nintendo 64.
Great video dude as someone who loves platformers i approve of these lists! also the last game on the list really looks like it has potential to grow into something bigger! ^^
Ah, it always comes back to Skylar and Plux with ya, doesn't it? A lot of TH-camrs and famous Interneteers have THAT thing that's their sworn enemy. For ChuggaaConroy, it's Steve the Red Pikmin; for Proton Jon, it's that time he said "move faster, Pokey"; for AVGN, it's LJN Toys; for Caddicarus, it's Phoenix Games; for Nitro Rad, it's Bubsy 3D; for Bobsheaux, it's Cool Cat and those Italian Titanic movies; for Vinny of Vinesauce, it's Bungie from the Gigglebone Gang; and of course, for our boy Ben, it's Skylar and Plux.
And suddenly I'm up to the point where he actually revisits Skylar and Plux, and of course, he's softened up to the game and now ranks it as "corny, but fun" rather than "stinky poopoo bad"!
Space Station Sillicon Valley was perhaps my favourite game for the N64. Playing around with all those animals was so magical as a child, and the level variety and gameplay ingenuity was absolutely insane.
One obscure 3D platformer I played a bit on my 64 was called Rocket: Robot on Wheels. I'd love to see you talk about that game if you've ever played it
Great video dude, I never thought there was ever a Wallace and Gromit video game and I really hope that you do another one of these because this was a pretty cool video I also have some requests for if you ever make a squeal to this video those being Mushroom men the spore wars for the wii with its amazing scale and creative weapons, Dewy's Adventure also for the wii with its adorable characters and story as well as the clever temperature gimmick, Rocket robot on Wheels for the N64 with its great level design and amazing controls with both rocket and the vehicles he can use, Glover also for the N64 with its pretty cool gimmick and interesting puzzles, and finally Metal Arms a Glitch in the System for ps2, gamecube, and OG Xbox with its pretty darn hard levels and great multiplayer.
I hope you play Wallace and Gromit Curse of the Ware Rabbit soon. I remember me and my brother playing it and loving it. It makes Wallace, Gromit, and Hutch play super similar to each other and emphasizes them working as a team.
Okay let me just say treasure planet the game and the movie BOTH are HUGE parts of childhood I played the hell out of the game I absolutely love it till this day! And I still enjoy it yes there are some junky bits about it but I still will get my ass on my ps1 and play this game hearing you talk about this game really put a smile on my face
I'd love to see you cover Blinx the Time Sweeper next time you do this! It's one of my favorite games of all time and I wish it could be talked about more.
I gotta say. The Treasure Island game reminds me ALOT of the PS1 Stuart Little 2 game I played as a kid. I wouldn't be surprised if they had the same developer.
I see you're covering that indie game that is supposed to be homage to retro Crash Bandicoot... And yet from what I've seen only seems to capture the essence of It's About Time's difficulty.
Oh yeah, I remember your tweet, I forgot if I recommended you ICO but, if not, I do it now. I know you dislike Shadow of the Colossus, but ICO is very different from that (that game doesn't get enough recognition) That aside, nice to know of a game like Crash Bandicoot, I hope it gets completed. Nice video.
Here is a game I have played you gotta take a look at if you ever do a Obscure Fighting Games video. War Of The Monsters. A 3d platform fighter made for the PS2 in 2003 by Incognito Entertainment. It is both considered a love letter to fighting games and classic monster movies. It also got re-released on the PS4 as well as a PS2 classic. So that's the version you oughta look at considering one of the skins in the PS2 versions that is locked with a special condition is opened by default.
Don't worry Benjamin, your not the only one who couldn't beat Wallace and Gromit in Project Zoo, it took me years before I decide to quit because, it was TOO complicated
You know, if a skyla and plux reboot does end up happening i hope that it fixes the issues the original has, like involving plux into the moveset, actually introducing his father and make the jokes, lore and writing better
To be fair to the game, the movie Treasure Planet literally had a stealth scene so when following the story it only makes sense that it was there even if game stealth usually sucks in platformers. Also Montressor has such a good track! Also, also, Treasure Planet, Atlantis the Lost Empire, and Titan A.E. that can be flawed to some people but I love all three of them anyways. Also Iron Giant. MacBat 64 OMG! I beat it in a day but it was a cute time the whole way through! How much is the mushroom game? I'd love to play it hopefully soon. Seems hard but I have played Crash a decent but in my day so I don't think I'll suffer too bad. I mean I will suffer, but I'll persevere.
I had Space Station, but on the PS1 (under the name 'Evo's Space Adventures'). It does seem to be the inferior version compared to the N64 though. I just remember the BRUTAL difficulty after like Level 5 And also the Springy Thingy (it's a sheep with a spring instead of legs)
27:30 I know this is supposed to be a bat skin but it makes Cybil look naked with a bat theme. Crash 4: it's about time did something similar to this with the expiriment skin with Coco. I know it's weird but I don't hate it. I find it interesting when developers do something like this.
I remember that throwing me off initially, as he was the only NPC in-game who had voice acting (and I didn't immediately recognize his voice). Still, it was cool that he agreed to cameo!
Muppet Moster Adventure and Stuart Little 2 on PS1 same like they were made by the same people. I'd recommend those games for a follow up. Maybe not both for the same follow up.
You really ought to check out Curse of the Were-Rabbit, the controls are better compared to Project Zoo and I like to think it's kind of a combo of Mario 64 and Luigi's Mansion with the Pesto Pal Card collecting and the Pest Capturing.
Really wanna play Project Zoo and Treasure Planet at some point, they look fun. Can confirm though, the Toree games and Macbat 64 are SUPER cool! There's also Kiwi 64 that you missed but... It's like 5 minutes long, so who really cares. Skylar and Plux is a game I haven't heard of in YEARS now, should really replay that someday (yeah the story is whatever, but the gameplay is fun)! A few personal recommendations of my own tho: - Whiplash (PS2/Xbox) - Super Cloudbuilt (Steam) - Dawn (Steam) - Rolled Out! (Steam) - Paperball (Steam) - One More Roll (Steam) - Newt One (Steam) - Lumin's Path (Steam) - Lorcan the Leprochaun (Only has a demo so far) (Steam) (Go support this game on Kickstarter so we can get the full game btw) - Eraser (Steam) (Rage game) - Crumble (Steam) - Blanco (Steam) - The recently released Solar Ash, if that counts (haven't really heard that many talk about it) (PS4/PS5/PC)
I have played Super Cloudbuilt and Solar Ash; the latter I actually had in my Games of 2021 video from a couple months ago, I really enjoyed it! But yeah, I think I'll look into some of these other titles you've shared.
Id recommend Poi. Its a Mario 64 inspired platformer (it has the same moveset as Mario 64) and is a fun 3D platformer. It has a ps2 era feel to it as it very much seems like a smaller game but is really fun with its moveset and platforming. Its usually pretty cheap too as I found a physical copy of it at walmart for $12 on switch.
Nope. In order, he talks about Space Station Silicon Valley, Wallace and Gromit in Project Zoo, Treasure Planet PS1, MacBat 64, Psilosybil, and Skylar and Plux: Adventure on Clover Island.
This is the first time I've seen the Skylar and Plux game but it kinda reminds me of Jak & Daxter The Precursor Legacy and the Ratchet & Clank quite a bit and since it's delisted I'll look around for License Keys for it that still may be available if like to try it
Younger me took the Evil Brain way too seriously. It's very obviously supposed to be a tongue-and-cheek moment, which fits with the rest of the game's sense of humour.
To think Project Zoo would end up meeting the same fate as The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer video game since now we got Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl coming to Netflix which from the trailer I've seen of it, it's a direct sequel to The Wrong Trousers with the return of Feathers McGraw and it has zero connection to Project Zoo, almost like Aardman is intentionally ignoring the video game like how Pixar ignored all the follow-ups to The Incredibles that weren't made by them before Incredibles 2 came out, which because that film started right where the first film ended, it ended up making those follow-ups years prior completely obsolete.
"I am not made for all this running around..... " (Wallace) Cue him running around in the next game. Get it. Iz gud. Also PAL version is optimized, so it's safe in case you want the authentic English experience.
Yeah I played the psilosibil demo with three levels playable and I was yeah I want more so I brought the full game which I plan to play very soon, I love the crash bandicoot games and really appreciate that it has challenge to it I would much rather that than the game being really easy to complete
Probably my favorite obscure 3D platformer, unless I'm misremembering how much platforming there was in the game, is the 102 Dalmatians game made by Toys for Bob. When I saw who made it I just kinda said "small world, huh?"
This isn’t a 3d platformer but sometime I think it would be good to do a part 4 of obscure kart racers. Way more content to look into. There’s this one kart racer for ps1 that’s a shameless copy of Mario kart 64. I think it’s like extreme go kart racing or something? I think if you do a part 4 to the kart racing games you could focus on ps1 era kart racers.
I know this game is rather recent, but I would love to see you cover Demon Turf which mixes 2d characters with a 3d environment. Also while this isn't really a 3d platformer, since we're on the topic of obscure platformers I would also recommend you check out Puppeteer if your able to.
Funny enough, I did actually pick up Demon Turf recently. Haven't played much of it yet, but so far I do like the movement options and the visual style.
Is it possible that we could see an Obscure RPGs video in the future? I actually have a few in mind. First, there's the Lost Kingdoms series, made by From Software for the GameCube. Yes, the same From Software that gave us Dark Souls. This one isn't as brutal, though. Think of it as playing as a Summoner, but using cards to do so and in real time. Good luck finding them, though, they didn't sell very well. I never got to play the second, but the first is my top GILBNOED. Second, there's the Epic Battle Fantasy and Crystal Story series. Both of these series are indie flash games that I first played on Newgrounds during my college days, but most of the games have full/updated Steam releases. The only ones that don't are the first two EBF games, which are supposed to be getting an updated re-release for Android and iOS as part of a collection. And lastly, I nominate Forum Fantasy: Prelich's Journey to Manhood. ...Yes, really. This one is apparently obscure, even among the countdown community nowadays. How do I know this? Because recently, I've had to reveal it as the answer to one of my prompts in the comment section of The Green Scorpion's latest Guess That Video Game video, after no one got it after several rounds between his and QG's videos. As for suggestions for another platformer, I think you'd get some enjoyment out of M&M's: The Lost Formulas for one simple reason: it plays similarly to the Crash Bandicoot games. It's much easier and doesn't focus on collectibles, but it does have a certain charm to it. ...And math. It also has math. Yeah, this one had younger audiences in mind. I played the PC version back in the day, but the GameCube version apparently has an exclusive level.
If you’re a fan of games that serve as time capsules to earlier days in gaming that rewards players for clipping out of bounds, might I recommend Anodyne 2? (Its not necessary to play the first game) It’s one half 3d platformer, one half zelda
Anyone here know how good your pc needs to be to play that Psylosybil (I hope I'm writing that correctly) game? I'm currently on a platformer kick myself since I need a break from rpg's. And honestly, that game looks so freaking Fire, I wanna try it if I can. Problem is that my laptop is kinda old, so I dunno if I can run it. All that being said though, this video was awesome. Definitely hope for a part 2 somewhere in the future, though I'm a patient man, I can wait (heck, I have watched the obscure kart racer trilogy five times or so now XD)
According to the Steam page, PsiloSybil's only listed as requiring a 64-bit processor and operating system, so it's probably not too demanding of a game. If all else fails, there is a demo on the Steam page, so you can give that a go and see how well the game runs on your computer before you consider buying it. And I don't know how soon it'll be, but I likely will do a part 2 for this topic.
Oops.

Silicon Station walked so Balan Wonderworld could Fall on its Face and Die.
So Super Mario Odyssey could run.
Hah funny
Don't really see the correlation between Silicon Valley and Balan, but hey, any excuse to once again beat that puddle that used to be a dead horse, right?
A review on the Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Wererabbit tie-in game in a potential Obscure 3D platformers 2 video would be
Cracking.
That joke was just
Cheesy.
(Facepalms)
I’m a simple human, I see Wallace on the thumbnail, I click
I’d love to see Mushroom Men: the Spore Wars covered! A cute little 3D platformer that does a great job making you feel really small
Oh HECK YEAH! it's a short game but *so* strong in atmosphere, thanks to both the art direction (not just character designs, but also the weapons you can craft) and the music.
Also the final boss setting is one of the craziest i've ever seen in a 3D platformer.
I've seen that game in Walmart a few times last year.
Is that the game Les Claypool wrote the music for?
@@Heathenshalt WHY YES IT IS
I remember that. Used to be an enormous fan of him. Now .... I think I prefer real jazz performers and maybe Freekbass
Ah, I'm guessing you're gonna talk about Wallace & Gromit in Project Z.O.O., I'm just as excited as Wallace himself is when he goes for cheese
I also believe it is the only original game (so excluding the movie tie-in) that Wallace's previous voice actor starred in...
(R.I.P. Peter Sallis)
It was a good game, I remember being stuck in the volcano area for ages because I didn't know you had to stay on one of the buttons in order to progress. I loved the wacky food theme guns.
Nice to see you talking about games of the 3D platformer genre... especially revisiting a game you reviewed previously with a different view.
I haven’t seen your content in a bit, but you’ve still got that spark!
23:59 this is almost certainly referencing the Dark world from Terranigma, which is a highly underrated ARPG from the company thay made illusion of gaia.
I'm not sure how obscure this game is, but potentially seeing Jersey Devil being covered would be great.
Probably wouldn't be as obscure nowadays but that would be an interesting final platformer
How about Dreams on the PS1?
Definitely super fascinated in obscure 3D platformers .
Glad to see some PsiloSybil representation in here ! ♥
It’s strange remembering all the licensed 3D platformers there were. It’s so strange.
this'll make a great series.
This was a neato video!
Definitely want to give that Macbat 64 game a try at some point, sounds fun. Especially as someone who grew up with the Nintendo 64.
Fun fact: DMA were at one point going to make a kirby game on the snes using the mouse but it was canceled
Huh! I wasn't aware of that.
The funniest part about this being we could have gotten a kirby game made by the same studios that makes grand theft auto
@@gamingsquared4206 That'd be both a weird and hilarious reality.
It would be a cool video idea discussing about canceled games
“Do it again”

Space Station Sillicon Valley was perhaps my favourite game for the N64. Playing around with all those animals was so magical as a child, and the level variety and gameplay ingenuity was absolutely insane.
what a refreshing video/style! Take my sub~
Project Zoo was also my 2nd Gamecube game! (My first being Luigi's mansion)
Makin good use of those chosen by the planet. Approved
I am definitely going to get PsiloSybil sometime. I loved Crash 1.
Really hope you talk about vexx next time after seeing it here shortly, I like it! Despite all the rough moments.

Never seen Treasure Planet. But have seen Frasier, and I'd recognize that voice anywhere.
Yep, that's Niles!
Hell yeah, glad to see someone repping Space Station: Silicon Valley
Given that it was one of the first games he ever mentioned when he started making countdowns...
We shouldn't be surprised.
@@greatsageclok-roo9013 I honestly expected him to talk about how he hated the final boss again
I wish Rockstar would remaster it
One obscure 3D platformer I played a bit on my 64 was called Rocket: Robot on Wheels. I'd love to see you talk about that game if you've ever played it
Ooh, Wallace in the thumbnail. Project Zoo is a surprisingly good time, hope I can hear your two cents on it.

@@BenjaMage Judging by how your thoughts also changed on Dan Danger, I was hoping as such.
Skylar and Plux has been delisted for sale. Pity, because I was interested in trying it!
Some of the project zoo music kind of sound like old Lego star wars game music
"I am not made for all this running around..... " (Wallace)
Cue him running around in the next game. Get it. Iz gud. Also PAL version is optimized, so it's safe in case you want the authentic English experience.
THERE WAS A WALLACE AND GROMIT PLATFORMER?! WHY AM I JUST NOW HEARING ABOUT THIS?!
Hey, you doing this is pretty…rad
I see what you did there.
type dog environment Europe will now live rent free in my head
Amazing upload Brother, huge thumbs up, continue to watch ur video in full, and keep in touch
Phix: The Adventure is probably the most obscure you can get
Don't Forget Ling Rise Which It's Japan Only Platform-RPG Game for the first Sony Console
13:26 Did I just see a penguin in a giant chicken robot fighting a dog?
Oh what Aardman and Frontier Limited will give us.
Oh what Aardman and Frontier Limited will give us.
Splatty’s adventure? Team of 5 spent 2 years working on it, it’s only PlayStation dreams, it has 2-3 hours of content, very underrated
Duly noted! I've heard there's actually quite a few really solid 3D platformers on Dreams, so I'll have to give those a look at some point.
I wish there was a wallice and gromit game with hat kid from a hat In time.
If you’re a fan of games that serve as time capsules to earlier days in gaming that rewards players for clipping out of bounds, might I recommend Anodyne 2?
(Its not necessary to play the first game)
It’s one half 3d platformer, one half zelda
oh my god he talked about macbat 64 I thought nobody knew about that game except for a tiny community lol
the ps2 treasure plaent has relly good music
Psilosibil plays great on my aya Neo handheld pc
Macbat 64 is a great game and a fantastic sequal tbh
I really want to play MacBat 64 now
Found this really interesting
