Canna lily thrives also I'm having success w dahlia, aster & cosmos. This is my 1st year w dahlia and aster and I'm hoping they will perennialize. Your videos are spot on! Thanks for sharing

I have grown dahlias but only during spring and they bloom great. Mine don't perennialize though. I'm guessing because its too hot and rainy.

Yay! I am growing lots of tropical root vegetables and I would love a video about them. They are not many on TH-cam. My mom brought me Yuca cangre (that’s how we call the stem) from PR. I planted 5 of them but only one survived. I am watching it grow on a pot, maybe someday I will have enough to give away. I would also love to grow Malanga Coco but I have not been successful with the one from the store. Thanks for this great video. Also, did you mentioned bananas and plantain for growing during summer? I think I missed it.

Oooohhhhh I missed plantains which is a good idea thanks! I have a dwarf plantain growing and forgot all about it LOL I try to find roots for Malanga coco but they tend to be so chopped up in the grocery store that its not good for planting.

Love learning about all the Florida plants we can grow this summer. Thanks!

Awesome! I just pulled my malanga up yesterday and they rotted through. I had them in an area that was always moist, so I need to find a place that dries out a little better.

Your welcome! Summer is tough. Its the highest disease and pest pressure of the year so don't give up, its not you.

I am new to your channel and loving the content, I don't know if you know but during the month's of June to Sept, you are not supposed to fertilize your garden especially fertilizers containing phosphorus and nitrogen during Florida's rainy season because excess nutrients found in runoff are some of the biggest nitrogen contributors to our local springs. I am in Pasco county and I have oregano and garlic chives that have been growing in my garden for the last 4 years all store bought, those are the heartiest herbs for Florida and also lemongrass loves the heat, thanks for sharing.

There are some rules about using fertilizer during our summer months here in Florida, because yes it does contribute to the excess nitrogen issues which cause algae blooms and a host of other ecological issues. However, those restrictions are concerning lawn fertilizers. I don't fertilize my lawn at all. I wish I could get rid of it and grow a beautiful garden but I'm in a HOA community so cant. Plus the stuff I use is organic. Its the synthetic stuff high in nitrogen that is the issue. I also grow all of those herbs, and yes they are awesome and survive for years!
