My theory: What if his bamboo staff was a dragon icon? It dissapeared after S7, and maybe got lost in time after wu became a baby. Maybe the staff went into the future, and ras found it. This would also make sense for the merge, because it is related to first spiniituzi masters tomb, where the realm crystal is.

This kinda makes sense, but I think that Wu did something in the past that destabilized the world and Ras capturing the source dragon caused the merge cuz the realms were Destabilized and what he could do is that probably in the thing with the time vortex it kinda froze and became like a space with no Gravity so probably that or it could be something totally new That we don't know yet.

But there is one thing that most likely debunks these two theories as well: the fact that the Merge almost happened while the FSM was around. So maybe it is simply too early for us to know how he caused it
What if the 16 realms used to be one big world before the realms were separated in their own world. However, something bad happened which caused or force the lands to separate into the realms something like a great war or an even greater threat that would destroy all the realms. When the merge happens it not only brings the realms together but it's original state thousands of years ago. if lord Ras’s master is the very same threat that caused the realms to separate and is now gathering an army that's big enough to takeover other realms similar like Morro bringing the Preeminent to Ninjago to curse all the realms or the Oni came to Ninjago and turn every one into stone If that happened the Ninja need all the help they can get not only for a final battle but to prepare for a war where the realms come together an fight for their freedom. Not like the one from Tournament of Elements or from Crystalized but a real war between realms If Wu really did cause the merge, what if that was for a purpose after receiving a vision from the source dragons of a powerful force that is powerful enough to destroy and take over the realms one by one as they are powerless against this threat only. the source dragon of balance sacrifices their life to prevent this threat from causing more harm to the realms which is why Lord Ras said that Wu caused the merge, he didn't kill the source dragon but he was responsible for their death. In the flashbacks, Wu said something about “Only Unity can save us” and “ family is key”. When the merge came happened it brought the realms together as they needed to be united to face this threat together. Which gives the Ninja time to travel and help protect the other merged realms and train a new generation of ninja to prepare an upcoming war that is going to happen
no the realms were all separate to begin with there was the first realm (realm of dragon and oni) and then the first spinjitzu master was born and created his own realm (ninjago) and i think a few others
@@Swappr I meant that realm were like big continents and undiscovered lands in on big world 🌎 before becomeing their world before you travel them through portal with the realm crystal since other realms already existed before like the first realm and the wildness this could have happened way longer during the time of the source dragons before the FSM was born
@@Swappr wasn’t there already native residents living there like the merlopians and storm tribe before ninjago had a name, ninjago was a undiscover land until it was found the FSM giving the name Ninjago unless he had created that land on his own and calling it ninjago like how Christopher Columbus discover a new world which is now America even though there are already natives living there

I think it couldve had something to do with morro because he released the preeminent and because of him the cursed real was destroyed and master woo blames himself because he taught morro and this couldve just destabilized the realms and than lord ras did something to trigger it or it was just gonna happen anyways
I think I pieced together the puzzle. Wu probably had a dragon icon but he somehow lost the icon or it was stolen under his watch or he gave it way and then Ras somehow found it and summoned the source dragon of energy and after it was captured is caused the realms to become unstable and caused the merge. And Wu said he caused the merge either by losing the icon or it was stolen under his watch making it his fault because he should have protected it better or he gave it away by mistake
