Zane should win an Oscar for his fakeout deaths. In all seriousness though, the amount of fake outs in this show is kind of tiresome. If you want to kill off a character, you gotta commit. Resurrection gets a pass but only if it serves the story. Death fake outs do not raise the stakes.

Ya that would have been the perfect way to end Ninjago, but I will admit the season after that finale was really good and I appreciated that it was more lighthearted
@@NoahSpinjitzuNinja I believe that the deaths served two different purpose in rebooted it is to show the resolve of Zane to protect his family and those who cannot protect themselves from the Golden Master and in Crystalized it is there to show the threat of the Crystal King and to show the love that Pixal has for him.
A fakeout death is when a charcter presumably dies in order to trigger an emotional reaction from the audience, only then to be revealed that the character is alive. That's different from a character dying and coming back to life. The villains in DotD didn't even come back to life, they only returned as ghosts. The actual fakeout deaths are mostly the ones from s1, Lloyd in MotO and the ones in Crystalized (might be missing a few.)
@@inhaleddeath5758 ok but you see he came back later did he not? maybe in universe he actually died but to the viewer that counts as a fake out because it wasn’t permanent
@@DickBond his death was permanent he literally only came back as a ghost for a tiny bit of time and then was gone again, he did not actually come back it wasn’t a fake out
Out of all of the fake out deaths the recent nya death really messed up the storyline for crystallized. Technically you lose nya, and then like 3 episodes after, you get her back; which loses the feeling to connect with the grief of the ninjas. If she was missing for the whole season it would’ve helped develop the plot of crystallized because there’s more episodes for it to go into other things and maybe at the end nya helps them fight the overload, AND THEN the next season she can get revived. It would’ve felt more dramatic and have a better ending for crystallized.
I've gotta say. The overlord was one of the ninjas most persistent villains. Like the overlord was always lurking in the shadows. And he had three or four fakeout deaths.
Yeah, I mean, he’s the literal EMBODIMENT of evil. I feel like the overlord coming back made a lot of sense considering how many adventures the ninja went on. I wish we could’ve seen some bits of the overlord sprinkled in the previous seasons so that we would notice them during the rewatch.
I was so disappointed with how Zane was written in Crystallized. Instead of another fakeout death and comic relief we could of Zane actually acknowledging the trauma/guilt he went through in the Never Realm but no using him as the punching bag is always the easiest but laziest option now.
@@Shinaru-ln9vi We saw her and her parents' corpses. The only way she'd come back is as a heart, like Nori and J. She's almost definitely *not* gonna come back as an actual drone.
I think the reason the writers choose Zane to die so much is because he has so many benefits ranging from being able to run way longer than any other of the Ninjas and having way more knowledge on battle and strategies. It would simply ruin the character if he was that OP for both of the shows.
1. Samukai DID die. That's why his soul inhabited the animatronic in Day of the Departed 2. Dr. Julian DID die in the flashback. Samukai just revived him, and kept him alive until he eventually died in-between Seasons 2 and 3. 3. Zane's death from Season 3 did count as a death. Sure, his consciousness survived and built a new body, but his sacrifice costed him his original body, which was destroyed, meaning he did technically die
In fact what actually happened with Zane is that Ronin found his pieces and repaired him so to speak and took him to Chen, appears in the Shadow of ronin video game that is semicanon because they mention the events in season 5
The fact that this video is 18 MINUTES long pleases me way too much Also I feel like Prime Empire was done with the purpose of making them go through more deaths, no?
I wouldn't say that samukai death is a fake out because he was never brought back to live, he only temporarily possessed a statue and try to fight for the chance of resurrection
@@toasted_sandwich bud that’s the overlord… Samukai was only in the pilots, that one time travel episode, and Day Of The Departed. I will say, his statue was shown briefly in S7 E1, but it’s just a statue
I'm not sure about Zane, but I think the Overlord should have been destroyed for good in Rebooted. They could have pulled it off by making the Golden Master's attack longer and more impactful. They also could have made a compelling story with Zane shifting the balance completely to light by destroying the Overlord. From there, the ninja would face their future enemies fearing that one of them will become the next ultimate evil, or we could see what bad would come from the balance being completely in light's favor, stressing that a little darkness to even out light is necessary for the world's well-being. I think that would've been a cool story to explore for ninjago following Rebooted
Agreed like with the overlord’s return, it should have been a season a little bit more focused on him and his past imo but instead they just shoved him to the side and just tried to balance out the whole season through literally every character!
the way they just brought the overlord back in crystalized and seemingly killed him off again feels very repetitive, what's the point of destroying him if he can always come back again?
@celestial jingwei I feel you on that one. I get that he's the ultimate incarnation of evil and that he was one of Ninjago's only decent villains, but it kinda shows how lazy the shows writing got in the later seasons. Rather than try to build a new villain up to be the next overlord they just keep reusing the same one. It effectively kills any tension and stakes with him. I really wish they'd just left him destroyed after Rebooted
@@FinalityEquinox87 i feel like they couldn't come up with better villains and instead just rounded up all the ones that are still alive, which to be honest except for pythor are a little subpar. harumi was unnecessary, the overlord was just season 2 and 3 all over again and the crystal council felt weak as antagonists. basically this season trampled all over my expectations for ninjago's final season
Hold on, let me demonstrate Jay for you. You're saying... YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED NINJAGO ALREADY!? The fact that most of the "deaths" in more recent seasons are fake outs is just sad. I haven't watched the second half of crystalized but I'm not surprised that there are 3 fake outs in there
@@toasted_sandwich well that’s the point They were emotional, until they revealed that nothing had any consequences and it was all fake ,which lowers the *stakes* by a TON . And none of them made any sense or had any substance linked to them . For example ,Zane’s fakeout death How did Zane wake up?Why did Zane Wake up? It doesn’t make any sense And it would’ve been a Great ending to Pixal’s character if she would’ve actually sacrificed herself for Zane, yet that didn’t happen .
Ok, Zane obviously has the most, but Nya has the most memorable ones. The end of Skybound, Prime Empire, when the monastary blows up, the end of Seabound in a sense, etc
In my opinion Dr. Julien is the best character of all he gives love to those who don’t have anything and doesn’t ask for anything in return and even though Zane is a robot Dr. Julien loved him as his own son. It honestly brings me to tears to see his fake death and now knowing he’s dead
Ik zane has been dying too much but I was ok with the last one, only because we got Pixal's heartfelt goodbye. "I do not know if there is anything after this life for beings such as you or I, but if there is... I will find you there. Goodbye my Zane." 😭Love them so much. Also the sound of happiness she made when he woke up was so pure and genuine.
Seeing Garmadon with two arms is just plain weird sight And seeing Zane a normal "human" again is just as weird dang Guys remember the time when The Great Devourer was the biggest threat? Heh
I feel like Cole's death when he fell off the bounty seemed the most real because the writer's played into it very heavily. We had the slowed down footage with the somber music, the echo of Jay's voice, and everyone rushing to the side of the bounty. It seems the most real to me, and it's one of the few fakeout deaths I actually believed.
The only fake out deaths i believed that wouldve been good was everyone in S6 since it would be deverstating for the villain like Nadhakan to win. As he already did "kill" or tortured to wish themselves away every other ninja apart from Jay. And he forced Nya to marry him. So a villain like that and imagine ending the season with her death and Nadhhakan dying as well would've been so good as we see everyone completely different
Nah, Crystallized has so many problems but the ludicrous amount of fakeout deaths absolutely DESTROY any semblance of tension the season could have had.
Strange how this is still my favorite childhood show because as I’ve grown up fakeout deaths have become my absolute least favorite trope in writing unless done very well and still carrying weight.
Zane’s death in S3 is the only good death Zane had, because there was a form of consequence (him losing his original body). I enjoy Season 8 but that whole thing where he got beaten to a Pulp by Mr. E was so pointless, especially considering the scrapped Echo Zane plot point never came to fruition. That scene just left me confused after watching it if I’m being honest
I dont know why but i was thinking about it and when all the characters are older and have children (if it ever gets to that point )just imagine Zane and Pixal make robot children so that they can have kids like how cute would that be
Honestly they used to be because you'd think they were actually real deaths, but unfortunately nowadays you can pretty much see it coming that the character Will be fine
@@ThePokemonPrinceYT no joke tho…Zane’s 3528468th fake out death in season 16 lowkey made me kinda sad… (But then again, Pixal kind of carried that whole scene)

The deaths that hurt the most are the ones where Wu cries. It really hits to see the man who watched these kids grow be so frightened by them and their death. One day, these deaths will all eventually happen, or the show will end. And they'll hit even more.
When P.I.X.A.L finally explained her love for Zane and then kissed him before walking away for battle, dang. That hurt. and Then Zane came to life/powered on and P.I.X.A.L yelled "Zane..? AHAHAH, YOU'RE ALIVE!!" You could hear the amount of relief and happiness from her voice! (Pixane is the best.)

Ya that would have been the perfect way to end Ninjago, but I will admit the season after that finale was really good and I appreciated that it was more lighthearted
S3 better scene
@@NoahSpinjitzuNinja I believe that the deaths served two different purpose in rebooted it is to show the resolve of Zane to protect his family and those who cannot protect themselves from the Golden Master and in Crystalized it is there to show the threat of the Crystal King and to show the love that Pixal has for him.
A fakeout death is when a charcter presumably dies in order to trigger an emotional reaction from the audience, only then to be revealed that the character is alive. That's different from a character dying and coming back to life. The villains in DotD didn't even come back to life, they only returned as ghosts. The actual fakeout deaths are mostly the ones from s1, Lloyd in MotO and the ones in Crystalized (might be missing a few.)
the point is they didn’t stay dead so it can be considered a fakeout
@@DickBond no it can’t, most of these “fake outs” were deaths, like Samukai he died he legit got turned into nothing

I swear the ninja have got to be tired of shouting someone’s name dramatically as they “die”
Everyone was depressed w/o nya so I guess they had to bring her back 🤷♀️ no one really dies in ninjago
Zane literally come back ONE episode later
Zane’s death is so much better than cole’s fall
Be grateful for the show you got.
it was a year in the show so thats why
I couldn’t agree more!

I have one argument against this. It goes something like this: "Doll from Murder Drones."
@@Moriah-f5o yeah but we are talking about Ninjago, not Murder drones. Besides, there are still a chance that Doll is alive.
And he's also a robot, unfortunately that makes him the fodder for the more brutal moments in the show, as it's made for kids 🤷

Same plot over and over; the bounty gets destroyed, the ninja lose their powers, or Zane “dies’”
1. Samukai DID die. That's why his soul inhabited the animatronic in Day of the Departed
I included resurrections, also it was a statue not an animatronic
@@toasted_sandwich that's what I meant

In fact what actually happened with Zane is that Ronin found his pieces and repaired him so to speak and took him to Chen, appears in the Shadow of ronin video game that is semicanon because they mention the events in season 5
Zane rebuilds himself
I know that everyone says that Cole's fall is the worst fake out death but for me it's Oni Garmadon. They didn't even try
That's the point of his fake death, he was totally fine it was done by garmadon to make Lloyd embrace his Oni form
The fact that this video is 18 MINUTES long pleases me way too much
Also I feel like Prime Empire was done with the purpose of making them go through more deaths, no?
I wouldn't say that samukai death is a fake out because he was never brought back to live, he only temporarily possessed a statue and try to fight for the chance of resurrection

He at least gets beat up or dies once or twice every season

Incredible how ninjago made us panic 52 times because someone „died“
You forgot where Lloyd was freaking out about his father being banished to the cursed realm.
I feel like Cole's death when he fell off the bounty seemed the most real because the writer's played into it very heavily. We had the slowed down footage with the somber music, the echo of Jay's voice, and everyone rushing to the side of the bounty. It seems the most real to me, and it's one of the few fakeout deaths I actually believed.
yeah i was actually worried when cole 'died.' pretty sure that was his first fakeout too, so it felt different
Lmao i love how Jay never had one lol. That's my boy right there
I love how Lloyd just t poses after going into the overlords mouth
I love how the only ninja that had a irreversible death was Nya. If jay wasn't able to go back in time, she was actually dead.
Nah, Crystallized has so many problems but the ludicrous amount of fakeout deaths absolutely DESTROY any semblance of tension the season could have had.
The amount of times Zane “died” or was at risk of being so is actually insane

Strange how this is still my favorite childhood show because as I’ve grown up fakeout deaths have become my absolute least favorite trope in writing unless done very well and still carrying weight.
Zane should get a world record on deaths. Bro's died more times then Ashy boy
I dont know why but i was thinking about it and when all the characters are older and have children (if it ever gets to that point )just imagine Zane and Pixal make robot children so that they can have kids like how cute would that be
Probably not, but it's fun to think about.

In the Sixteen Realms parallel to Ninjago, there were a total of three known realms for the dead to continue to dwell after their passing. Of the three, the Departed Realm seems to be where the dead are naturally meant to go, as when a being who was sent to the other two is destroyed, their spirit will move on to the Departed Realm.
Departed Realm (possibly for all denizens of all Realms)[4]
Cursed Realm (for those whose souls are cursed; now part of the Departed Realm)[5]
Underworld (for fallen warriors who were disgraced in battle, and don't accept or realize their passing) Returning to life
Death can also be thwarted, but the ways that this can be accomplished are generally considered immoral, as it goes against the natural order of the world. Likewise, the consequences of such methods can prove too dire or even worse than death itself. These are some ways that have been used to defy death:
Resurrection with the help of Higher Powers (resurrection by the forces of someone who has incredible power: First Spinjitzu Master or The Overlord)
Resurrectea (temporary postponement of death, requires the deceased individual's body to be present to ingest it)
Rift of Return (requires powerful magic from the Yin-Yang Eclipse to sustain; once every 3,721 years)
The power of the Yin Blade (places victim into a state of ghost-like limbo; destroyed)
Being wished into the body of another living being by a Djinn King (possession of another person)
Killing one's murderer (or one closely associated with the circumstances that caused their death) with a Departed Blade
Escaping from the Cursed Realm or Underworld (escapee is left in an undead state of being, either skeletal or cursed; Cursed Realm destroyed)
Resurrection by the Mega Weapon (massive energy toll on user required; destroyed)
Reversing time on the corpse of the deceased (can be negated by Tomorrow's Tea)
Escape from the Departed Realm (requires a massive amount of catalyzed magic to sustain indefinitely)
Imprisonment in the Djinn Blade (indefinite, unconscious limbo for all eternity)

Necromancy
Skull of Hazza D'ur (can resurrect skeletons that obey their necromancer; destroyed)

Although no skeletons have been released since 2015 that have arms with ball and socket joints which allowed them to move all the way out to the side and all the way around, all skeletons in Ninjago have hands made this way, except the Skulkin and Re-Awakened, who use a newer version of the hands. The reason for preserving the original hands is probably that the skeletons can be in better and more diverse positions.
Interestingly, although all the other skeletons in the show have the same design as the real LEGO skeletons, the Fangpyre skeleton in "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" and Anacondrai skeletons in "Never Trust a Snake" look like real skeletons, although in "Green and Gold" it turns out that Serpentine has the same skeletons as humans. Hazza D'ur (formerly; resurrected by the Skull of Hazza D'ur, now departed once more) Realms of the deceased
Oni Masks (when they are united; exclusive to those with Oni blood; two masks destroyed)
Necromancy
Skull of Hazza D'ur (can resurrect skeletons that obey their necromancer; destroyed)

Respawning (only three times) Trivia
The Ninjago characters who got, cubed in the 12th Ninjago season don’t count as death scenes there in a video game, lost their lives and got, cubed. Nya was lucky to have gotten out of the hanger bay before the whole hanger bay exploded. Zane was lucky to have survived and got out of his coma thanks to Pixal and Cyrus Borg wasn’t really leaving Zane there alone was he? He wasn’t really going with Pixal Ronin and the other criminals was he? Was he was just going with them to say good luck, and then go back to where Zane was? Because he didn’t really go with them also, why didn’t you show us master Chen and his Anacondria, army dying? Cryptor was sent to the Departed Realm because "must have a programmed soul like Zane and Pixal.
Samukai wasn’t a fakeout he really died.
