Great review, brothers(per usual). Such a beautiful truck. While the 2500s aren't as powerful as the Chevy and Ford(Ram forces you up to the 3500 for max power), they're still an awesome workhorse with legendary(likely far more reliable) Cummins engines. What I like most about the 2500s is Ram brings near 1500 levels of comfort in terms of ride and handling. I do wish we'd get the 5th-gen cab soon, but it isn't exactly wanting for space. Its easy to see why these are so popular, which is what has helped Ram grow considerable market share and be #2 in class.
They're getting heavily updated for 2023, so get ready for another review!

I bought the 2022 RAM 2500 Laramie 4x4 Hemi short-bed in December and enjoy it very much. The rotary shifter is not a problem. I keep a hitch adapter in the receiver all the time, so I turn off the rear parking sensors with the switch on the dashboard. The rear camera shows me when something is behind the truck when reversing. I only tow a small utility trailer which is no problem for the hemi engine which does not require preheating. The crew cab will hold 5 adults with no issues.

My uncle mainly uses this truck for towing a pontoon boat
And they have a big dog that rides in the truck
He did tell me that he likes to shift you’re better on a diesel van the gas since he had the 2018 1500 before the 2021 2500 both big horns
This is his third Reham the first was a 2011 1500 ST

Drove a 2021 four wheel drive lower trim line version of the same truck you reviewed for work this summer, loved it, had a choice each day of the diesel or gasser, the gasser was definitely quieter still and a lot less vibration, especially at idle, in case anyone is on the fence between the two engines. I also liked the gassers transmission selector better, a simple spin knob that was quick and easy to use especially going from park to drive. In addition to the added cost of the diesel engine at purchase you also have to keep buying the diesel exhaust fluid which is an added constant cost, so something else to figure into your budget along with fuel. The only thing I saw fail on the trucks during the time we had them was the outside temperature readout, it always seemed to be reading 10-20 degrees lower than what the true air temperature was, not sure why. All in all, I would definitely consider this truck line if I needed its capabilities, it was definitely better than the Ford Superduty trucks that we also had, rode better and had a much better interior overall than the Fords. Can't comment on GM or Nissan versions since we didn't have any and of course Toyota doesn't make a heavy duty version yet. Hope these insights help anyone considering this truck line.

I agree. If you don't need a diesel, you're getting a better handling package at considerable less expense, both up front and long-term(maintenance on modern diesels is insane).

Yeah, I have the 2019 diesel and for towing... so much nicer than gas. More so because it's way quieter. Gas, the noise from the RPMs is pretty annoying

now the logic is that the bed of the truck should be atleast the size to accommodate a large panel of drywall in one piece. however, now come to think of it correctly, I went hunting in a dodge ram 2500 actually, and it was a little moist on a muddy lease road and I remember as soon as I came up to even a slight gradient, the truck would struggle to climb in 2 wheel drive, that entire hunt I had to drive in 4 wheel drive and it sucked through gas like it was chinese take out.
is it because of a stiffer springs/ suspension... I wasn't towing anything infact the box only had our gear and gun cases.. because we needed the space..

I purchased a new Dodge ram 2500 diesel in May. With 12000 miles i got an engine light and message that the exaust filter is blocked. See dealer immediately!
5 days to see the dealer, they say it cant be driven until it is fixed or it will do more damage and may shut down.
5 days to get the parts over the Thanksgiving holiday means 2 weeks!
Ram care support has an outage and can not take the call. I need a loaner vehicle and local dealer does not offer loaners or rentals.
Thanks Dodge for the terrible service and a piece of shit truck that is not dependable!
Should have kept my old one! Never buy another Dodge!

Not if the used truck market stays like it is. I bought a basic 2018 Tradesman 2500 for 38k. I traded it a few months ago for the same exact price. Saw it sold a few weeks later for 41k. So your logic has just been blown out of the water.

For 4,000 you can’t even get a cavity filled and X-rays. 2005 diesels are still in the 15-20k range depending on mileage
