Everybody in Nepal just calls this man "Jhanda Baje" (Flag-bearing Senior). He walks around Kathmandu every day carrying the National Flag, especially in the three city squares in the valley, waving it with great enthusiasm. He claims he wants to inspire the youth toward the flag and the country. He does not take any money and was a large beacon for hope for the whole country after the devastating 2015 earthquakes. He's a local legend and I'm not surprised you were touched by his humility.
I've seen this man (Jhande Baje) before, but didn't know his story. He is inspiring and is a perfect example of the heart and soul of Nepal. Thanks for the explanation
Additionally, the dress he is wearing is "Daura Surwal" and that is the national dress of Nepal for male. He is the true reflection of Nepal culture in every essence.
Brother, you are experiencing what I did 40 years ago when I first visited Nepal - an amazingly beautiful culture and people. Forty years ago Nepal stole my heart and today I'm still in love with it. I'll return for the 8th time in a few weeks, for a 3 month stay. I think you will find there is so much to see and do that you will also have to return. While the cities of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur are very beautiful with so much to do and see, I urge you to do a trek (even a short easy trek in Annapurna region, like Ghorepani-Poon Hill/Ghandruk trek or Mardi Himal trek) but I especially recommend you travel to some of the smaller villages, where, away from the "tourist traps" you will find the real heart and soul of Nepal. The "blessing" you were seeking is called "Tika". It's a physical expression of a person giving honour, respect, good wishes and love - so yes in western eyes it is a "blessing". Your attitude to the (often insistent and sometimes annoying) street vendors is commendable. I think you understand that they are just ordinary, hard-working, poor but honest people, with little education trying to make a basic living and like anyone selling things to make a living, of course they want the best price they can get. For almost 2 years during the covid pandemic their daily income from tourists virtually disappeared overnight. Before that, in April 2015 the people in the Kathmandu valley, Solukhumbu and Gorkha region endured a massive 7.8 earthquake in which almost 10,000 people died with twice that number injured and thousands more made homeless. Less than 6 months later, in September 2015 India imposed a 6 month border blockade which meant fuel, cooking gas, cooking oil and many other basic commodities were in very short supply and the Nepali people suffered terribly. Previously the country had experienced a people's uprising known as the Maoist revolution, which lasted 10 years from 1996 to 2006 and culminated in over 17,000 people losing their lives, the Shah monarchy being overthrown and a federal democratic republic declared. The current democratic Nepali constitution only came into effect in September 2015. If we consider all this and that Nepal is one of the few countries in the world that was never colonized and was isolated and closed to the rest of the world until the early 1950s, we can appreciate even more the genuine friendly, humble and peace-loving nature of the Nepali people today. Subha yatra Nepalma bhai. Happy travels in Nepal bro.🙏
Thank you so much for traveling in our country and interacting with our dear people. I loves the way you wrote down your experiences in detailed way 🥰🥰 Lots of love from Nepal 🇳🇵😘 take care!!
I have visited around 7/8 countries but Nepal is different. Local prople are so kind and generous. Its a country which is gifted by god with the best natural scenario. ❤️ Just loved it.❤
Lol ..seems u didn't explore Nepal in its raw form generally locals are nice to u so that they can scam you later . generally they sell goods and services 5 times higher.
IT'S AMAZING.....Handle the people who come to you on the street for their purpose. Sometimes it's laughing from the gut that the way you handle the people funny way like I WANT BE HAPPY... YOU CAN MAKE ME HAPPY... YOU ARE VERY WARM PERSON... SURE.. THEY WILL LOVE AND HUG YOU TIGHTEN...NEPALI PEOPLE ARE SUPER NICE. Enjoyed very much this video. SENDING LOVE FROM SRI LANKA.🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰❤
Hey Davud, I appreciate how you immerse yourself in our culture and everyday Nepali life. This is also apparent in the haggling that you do. Haggling is simply a part of life in Nepal, and you do it so well. You come across as polite and charming (and you are), and your interactions, I've noticed, leave the locals with a smile as well. Peace and Love to you my friend.

Dauvd sir. U r always super nice. Gentle. Very kind. Helping hand very good human. God Bless you and your family with good health and happiness always.
Yes, you are absolutely correct about Nepal remaining politically neutral and having good relationships with its neighbors, India and China. Nepal is like a wall between two countries that’s rapidly developing, rapidly growing in population and power… Nepal is a neutral land - that’s a safe Heaven for countries like USA.. they can be right in between the two countries that’s trying to be next super power .. that’s why USA pays a huge interest in Nepal.. India is like a brother country for Nepal .. just like a big brother can have both positive and negative impact; India has the same impact on Nepal … it’s sweet and sour at times but will be together for ever !! China on the other hand is important to Nepal for trade - China has made life much affordable to Nepalese.. besides, China has been doing its best to help develop Nepal… they are ready to do much more but it will be at the cost of losing the big brother - hence, it is indeed tough situation for Nepal !! Regarding religion, Nepal is indeed a Hindu Buddhist country !! In Nepal, Buddhism is a part of Hinduism. It’s very intertwined. But, there are Muslims, Christian’s and other religions as well. All religions are well respected as Hinduism is very accepting religion. I don’t know what religion you belong to .. or if you prefer to be associated with a certain religion or not .. but, there are beautiful Masjid’s and Churches in Nepal.. if you wish to visit. Have a good time in Nepal !! Thanks 🙏
Love from India.. You know,. What is a good thing about you....most of the time you know that sellers over charge but you still ignore and give them money... You don't overreact the seller's price and all.... I see some youtubers they do overreact on only 50cents.. obviously you can bargin but don't say sellers do scam...
That biggest temple is Taleju Bhagwati Temple and it is opened once in a year only on nawami of Dashain Festival. Love to see you in our country. 🇦🇿🇳🇵🙏🙏🙏🙏
Davud, Nepal had a very bad earthquake just a few years ago, the centre of Kathmandu was badly affected. The buildings that are propped up are where they have been reconstructed, and really the struts will not protect in the case of another bad quake. It’s to repair for daily living.
Davud- my Brother, U R a very kind and generous gentleman, I watch all your vedio, & wish you good luck. One request - this time pls, visit Gujarat state, visit historic place, big cities & county side..
