    How awesome would this series be if produced today? With HD cameras the size of a 10cents coin and drones to follow the race. Netflix, get on this! :D

    In case anybody's wondering when this was made, it's from October 1999, i.e. 23 years ago - long before stupidly expensive lithium battery technology and stupidly expensive, hugely overcomplicated EVs; long before Roberty Bobberty started his Fully Charged channel on TH-cam all about generating clean, green, renewable energy; the phasing-out of fossil fuel usage; and how we can all save a modest amount of money by first spending an enormous amount of money... 🤭
    True fact: I'm still using the bicycle I bought from Halfords in 2005 for £120, brand new. It's probably worth less than £30 now, but I ride it every day (I do about 70 miles per week), and it costs me virtually nowt to own and run.
    In 17 years it's covered well over 50,000 miles. Yes, it's hard work pedalling it up hill and down dale across Yorkshire in lovely English weather (⛈️🌧️🌨️🌦️), but it shows no signs of wearing out.
    Now THAT'S my idea of cheap, effective, durable, efficient transport! 😁

      But they made such a stupid decision with that belt drive. Even without considering the rain a belt has a huge contact area, they might as well have put monster truck wheels on their machine after that.

      The problem was that Llewellyn left and they messed around with the concept. They took that one-off Pumpkin Chunking competition and made it the series premise. Big mistake, people wanted to see amateur engineers in a knockout competition using only scrap metal.

    The funny thing is, 250cc engines are practically the same efficiency of 1000cc engines per the same rpm depending on fuel delivery method and weight of the vehicle. There was a guy that put a snow blower motor in a Harley Davidson and got less mpg.

    You wonder why the Greens never thought of welding a piece of sheet metal to cover their engine knowing how British weather works. Also, since it's number of laps that count, they should have stayed as close to the inside as possible to minimize their distance.

      Intake, compression, power, exhaust. You wouldn't have a running engine without any of those 4, in that order.

    • @Milamberinx
      @Milamberinx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      To have a 3 stroke you'd have to be alternating which side of the piston is driven. Maybe it's technically possible, but it sounds complicated for little benefit.

    Since when do 2 strokes have exhaust valves? If you're going to talk about things at least learn something about the subject, 2 strokes burn twice the fuel because every downstroke is a power stroke V a 4 stroke which rotates twice as many times per power stroke, making it more fuel efficient.
