The modified series that is on the track racing is my favorite. Each series at Stafford offers a different emotional feeling. The hot temperature and aggressive nature of the lights is great and the patient SK's build anticipation for an aggressive action packed finish. The tour is both and you can't predict before the green flag flies. The rumble they cause through airwaves and ground pounding puts a smile on my face for every lap. Except when it takes four tries to get through the opening lap!
SK's awesome. Lights have grown on me from the start, very much enjoy them now. Car count awesome, great to see. And of course, open and Tri-Track great too. So, all of them
Very much appreciate the side by side explanation between the two types. I have always been curious as to what set the tour type modified apart. Now I know thanks to you!
Great video to break down the differences between the SK Lites, SKs and Tour Type Modifieds. To me, there is no better tough looking appearance than an asphalt modified, and when you pair that with the sound of the engine, it is so exhilarating. Being more specific, I have always enjoyed the tour type modifieds the most with it's rich history and the names like Richie Evans, the Bodines, Cook, Stephanic to name a few.
Fantastic video David!!! Favorites: 1st SK’s, 2nd SK Lights, 3rd tour type. Maybe at some point in the future you could do a video explaining the difference between late models and limited late models. That would be cool. Lastly, awesome garage! I love it! 🏁🏁🏁🏁
Thanks you for another amazing and entertaining video. I am a life long dirt track racing fan and live near Lebanon Valley Speedway. My first trip to Stafford was also the last time that the ISMA super modifieds raced there. Apparently they didn't like me...but I fell in love with Stafford and the racing. All of your divisions put on competitive shows and while the cream usually rises to the top you don't know in advance who is going to win (unlike the dirt modified racing in the Northeast) and the excitement levels are high. I started going a few times a season and when Flo began carrying your events I got fully hooked. While I am only able to attend perhaps a half dozen events a season I watch weekly on Flo. The track does a phenomenal job of promoting racing and the teams on it's youtube and facebook pages and your youtube channel is totally off the charts!
Thanks for making this video and pointing out all the differences, same chassis all 3 series is pretty cool, only seen the sk and the sk lights race once when we made it out there, the lights did put on a show that night, i love watching the mods, thanks David
Very informative video! First off, the new shop looks awesome! Second, thank you for the explanation between the modifieds, I've raced locally in NH over 20 years but never in a modified. During covid i ran a full season of sk modifieds on iracing and finished 2nd in the 2nd division with only 1 win (at Stafford oddly enough). Great video!
Great recap on the differences appreciate it. None are as exciting as the Nitro NHRA where I grew up near Maple Grove PA , but . Really loving the racing and shows at Stafford since I transplanted here to CT. Can you also go over the race rules in a video and the class differences? I see the stock car like ones can't put, but the ones typically before the SK can. Also if you do put do you go laps down while changing tire or do yellow not count so can take as long as the clean up does .. etc. thanks again for a great channel and explaining things for us roundy round noobs.
David- Any thoughts or plans to court the CARS Tour or UARA Super Late Models to New England/Stafford?? Stafford would be the perfect facility for those cars and if you paired it with a Friday show it would work well
I love all modifieds. Id have to say Regular Sks are my favorite. Great passing, most of the time not a lot of cautions. Not too long of a run to the point the field gets so spread out that it becomes uneventful which the tour mods have often. Overall I love all modifieds by far my favorite.
Hell yea i've been waiting on a video like this since I started going to Stafford a few years ago. Did y'all ever run supermods at Stafford? Always neat going to Thompson to see them run.
The tour car is my favorite. I’m a sprint car, and midget guy. Former owner and driver. I have always wanted to drive a tour car. Just never had the opportunity.. I live an hour from Wall Stadium
great video. how about a little more in depth, like the fuel cell area, battery mount, inside the cockpit, etc. btw, i see many cars wrap the tire treads...whats that all about...
Down the road can get more in depth. I wrapped the tires just so the car can roll on my new shop floor and not leave marks. Others do it to hold the oils in the tire while they sit when they arnt being used
What's rhe going price for a new sk, tour modified? Back when I lived in conn. arond early 80's I got a quote from Troyer for a new car to run at stafford was around 45,000 for sk and 70,000 for a tour type mod.
Yes the Tour Modified is what you have seen race at NHMS. There might be a couple different rule differences between the NASCAR Modified tour and my car but they are very close
No question is stupid. Hard to believe but it does not stand for anything. It is just simply “SK”. In the stafford speedway website there is an entire story written about the history of the SK Modified and its creation

That's what I like to hear, glad you enjoyed it!

Would love to see some more track upgrades and more on how you get things done around there!
I have been to Stafford, my cousin raced there 28years ago .John Preston, along with Tim Connelly, Jeff Fuller etc.The modifieds are my favorites

Awesome explanation David! Very enjoyable video, even for someone who’s been around them. Perfect for a newbie who wants to get to know them!
Really cool information I wanted to hear for a long time. I’m glad you had three cars to show example betweenthem all❤
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

Sk mods Friday night hard great racing . But honestly I really like all the mods 🏁🏁😎

Love this video!
I'm between sk and tour, thanks for another great video!
Hell yea i've been waiting on a video like this since I started going to Stafford a few years ago. Did y'all ever run supermods at Stafford? Always neat going to Thompson to see them run.
They’ve ran them in year’s past. So damn cool to watch them! But it probably has been a dozen years or so since
The tour car is my favorite. I’m a sprint car, and midget guy. Former owner and driver. I have always wanted to drive a tour car. Just never had the opportunity.. I live an hour from Wall Stadium
Tour mod is my favorite
T-shirt with the pumpkin paint scheme would be cool
great video. how about a little more in depth, like the fuel cell area, battery mount, inside the cockpit, etc. btw, i see many cars wrap the tire treads...whats that all about...

Yes, like the sk series I'm running a dwarf gsxr 1000 open wheel in FL
This is what we call a pavement princess. haha just kidding david!
In years past, you could run big block motors, are they not legal anymore?
Saginaw 3 speed's with the 1.50 2nd gear are getting hard to find and REALLY expensive
What's rhe going price for a new sk, tour modified?

Tour car ready race you're looking at 100k or so if you want the good stuff. Chassis body bars from LFR Troyer or Fury will run you around $25k
Is a tour modified what I’ve seen in new Hampshire at NHMS? The whelen modified tour? Probably called something different now lol
Yes the Tour Modified is what you have seen race at NHMS. There might be a couple different rule differences between the NASCAR Modified tour and my car but they are very close
Possibly a stupid question but what does "SK" stand for?

the sk's are my favorite but i love tour cars
Every modified should be richy Evan’s orange on it.
Sk, 2010 era Rocco v Christopher
i thought tours used 15 inch tires and sk's used a10 inch tire
That tour mod is expensive, oil change would be 150.00
Yeah they aren't cheap to run!
Need to get a night of supermodifieds at stafford again. It would be so awesome to watch those race and would definitely be a sellout.
If you need a complete air system in thay shop let me know
Modifieds are for the golden spoon Richie rich spoiled or the person who can get crazy money sponsors
Sorry dude, the coolest racecars are SUPER modifieds
