My personal opinion I would like to see you fix it up to what it was when we used it on the track. New paint, put the railings back on it. Before you cut anything apart take measurements & brace the cab. Be careful taking the floor out. That's the whole structure of the cab. Front springs look fine to me. Off to a good start. Good father son project.
Remember that truck very well glad to see you bringing it back to life.there a lot of aftermarket parts available for that truck and you can purchase them locally right in ct.. auto body specialties in Middletown ct
Highly recommend that when you get to the point of painting, you have a chat with Rick Bushey. He's amazing and I truly belive he's exactly who you need to restore it to the new "original" look. Ask Tyler Leary or Kevin Gambacorta, I bet they would agree Rick is the man for the job!
To me for a 50+ year old truck that sat outside for years, it looks to be in pretty good shape. No surprise about the bed. It probably held water and snow more than it was dry.
Also wanted to say that if you can rebuild the engine if that's the original engine try to keep it matching numbers that's how you retain the value of the vehicle it really sad that they done away with the three speed on the column because somebody couldn't drive it rather than making them learn how to drive no I don't know if you ever drove one of those old 3 on the trees but they were fun to drive
Yes, clean the power washer.Really good and paint it, but make sure you need the parts that you're gonna change on the frame. Such as fuel lines and exagdeja.Did you put all that on her before you replace it
At this point… don’t worry about saving the look… just rebuild, use as much new as you can and just wrap it and make the wrap have that fatigued look in it

Back in the day they used to wedge the build sheets under the seat.
make sure that you are bagging and marking everything that you take off including nuts and bolts, fasteners, etc
So you can get to that frame so you can paint replace body mounts if they're needed
You're doing the right thing.Don't listen plates is not the proper way to fix the truck. If you want to retain the trucks value fix it correctly

Body swap it on to a crown Victoria chassis.
Did that truck come originally with the goose shift in the floor board
Originally and 3 on the 🌲. Turned in to the auto on the floor bird when kids that worked at the track didn’t know how to drive a standard
You could have at least cleaned your shop before you started ✌🏽😎
Hi Dave, Do you want to sell your crown Vic? I need it for the new cruiser division at seekonk speedway.
