“If you don’t make a mess, it doesn’t count.” Love it!! Thanks again for your honesty and making this lady (me) 😊 a lot more confident that there are still truly wonderful people out there! Prayers for your health. (Not only because I miss your vlogs) but also for your blessed family.
Heather, I bless the day I found this channel. I make it a point to watch your episodes the last thing of the day before going to bed because after watching political videos through the day and seeing how absurd our "leaders" can be, it's very grounding and calming to watch someone who's doing the really important work in the world. P.S. Besides grape leaves, oak and cherry leaves also help the pickles to retain crispness.
That's great to know!! Someone also said blackberry leaves! I love that there are so many great options! Also thank you so much, it means the world to me that we can bring you peace before a good night's rest! ♥
Hahaha thats how my day goes too…I do the house wife/motherly duties and the political but most importantly I end my day with the calming videos Heather post lol😊 Take Care God Bless
You are absolutely glowing. I would have never guessed you were just getting over something. Sounds like you have a bit of Farmer’s Lung… at least that’s what the old timers called it in VT when I was young. Not sure if they called it that in Maine or if anyone still says that lol. Either way, I am very happy to hear you’re on the mend ❤️🩹
Went to bed crazy early after a long work week, woke up at 2AM and yay saw you had posted a video. So glad you are feeling better and also know what was causing the issue. Our bodies are amazing, so I 1000% agree in going natural and supporting the body doing its job when possible! Laughed out loud when I saw Tori sticking her head out the fence next to Calamity on the milkstand, two full blown characters right there together haha! Loved the bit of garden tour and seeing chores, etc. Was super happy hearing your daughter yell out about finding a tomato hornworm, not many kids these days are even out in a garden much less learning so much at a young age. Your natural way of just showing her what to do....was heartwarming to see. She will be much further ahead in life than most! As always, thank you for sharing - it was a fabulous video. 💚
She LOVES the garden. When we had our second garden here I remember being really impressed at the kids' ability to identify volunteer seedlings! They are little sponges for knowledge!
@@SageandStoneHomestead They so are! I remember my childhood and then again later in life for learning how to use lots of different kinds of power tools and do stuff like sheetrock/mudding, tiling, etc. Has been super helpful in life for being used to and happy using tools that some people wouldn't normally be used to.
Hi Heather You should add a horseradish leaf when you pickle a cucumbers for a amazing teats and Horseradish contains tannins that help the cucumbers stay crunchy
Continued prayers for you to be healthy and well!! I think some people don't take mold exposure serious enough!!! As a teacher I had students that were not well from the first cold snap until late spring. Some lived in older homes and I was very concerned that exposure to mold from those homes was the cause of their symptoms. Young children, like the elderly have a more difficult time with their immune system handling things in their environment. Your Squash had me stumped!!😂 It looked like shredded cheese to me!!😂 Thanks for sharing pickle fermentation, I'm going to have to give that recipe a try!!! Your cucumbers looked to be the perfect size!!! Have a great weekend and stay safe!!!
Mold is nasty, and I’m glad you are feeling better. Surely my Rocky is a survivor 😄 but I think that we are going to have to be careful this tear because of the wet spring. I had to skip Mars part, I lost my Great Pyrenees on Monday in a horrible accident and I just can’t shake it off, or even move on, I miss him so much! Everyone looks great, thank you for sharing ❤
Seeing how good you are to your animals is touching. They clearly love you loads, always trying to cuddle and talk to you. Happy I found your channel 🫶🏻✨
Non-moldy hay dust messes with my sinuses. Always good to have a bandana or something like that on with dealing with particulates so that stuff that’s not supposed to be in your lungs stays out. Mold is a different beast altogether. Glad you’re on the mend!
Oh Heather! I really hope you get to feeling better, that sounds like it's the pits. Good thing you spotted the correlation between the exposure and not feeling well. A friend of mine got exposed in a similar fashion a few years ago and she had similar symptoms as well as elbow pain. Just wild how our bodies react like that. Keeping you in my thoughts.
Severe allergic reactions to mold are the worst!!!! Just being close to it once, will trigger my asthma for days!! So glad you're feeling better! It sounds like your 'hay man' is a great guy! Sadly that kind of honesty & integrity is hard to find anymore! You are blessed!! Love your tea bag tip!! I often use coffee filters when I need to make a spice bag. Please take care Heather, so good to have you back!! God bless!
Heather continued prayers for you and your Health! Every time I see your goat herd, I just can't help but smile. Someday I would love to have goats as well. Everything looks very green and Lush over there... Here in this part of Texas we are expecting 104° and yes no more rain....we haven't had rain in a good long while... everything is dying off. I am having to deep water the garden beds late at night around close to 7ish. It's a struggle
So glad you realized what was most likely making you feel bad! Hope you continue to feel back to your normal self. How long will pickles made like that last? I planted lots of cucumbers and it's one of the things I'm most excited about. I can eat a quart of baby dill pickles in a week! I like them crisp though! I'd hate to spend hours canning and them not be crisp.I canned pickles years ago and my husband hates them. He said the whole house smelled like pickles lol!
Glad you’re feeling better! Scary when the heart is involved. Tori is cute as a button! Love her little personality. You really have me wanting to dive into making some mini manchas 😄
Taking a few days is really important, good call on letting your body rest. With a TH-cam channel it can really make taking some down time feel like a option of last resort.
Fermented cucumbers are the beat way to eat them! Im going to have to get some at the farmers market tomorrow since my cucumber seeds hqvent do e anything yet.
I’m glad you felt better after this exposure. I use the pasteurization method for my pickles and it makes all the difference. I still add pickle crisp for good measure. Homesteading family has a good video about it. I’ll have to try your fermented pickles. I’ve tried before but mine were not so good.
Glad your doing better. Yes God blessed us with a wonderful immune system. For pickles make sure to add grape leaves that helps with crisp. Yes I agree with those tomatoes not good flavor. Also, Redmond salt is awesome salt to use. That’s all I use
Yes I absolutely agree mold is very dangerous!!! We have been living in mold for a very long time and its only by the grace of God we are making it this long in this home we living in. Myself and my two children has asthma and my son and husband has really bad allergies. We have face many different health issues and immune system issues since living here and every other rental we had before this one has had mold. We in a situation where the land lord doesn’t want any financial ties to this home he just wanted it sold ASAP and we know why now and why he was rushing to paint and do all sorts of remodeling things before we moved in to rent it…because it was a cover up to just get it sold then the problems would be for someone elses, but he decided to rent it to us what we taught would be short term (3-6 mts) that has now turned to two years. We tell him all the issues we have here and he can careless and with NOTHING being on the market to move since covid we STUCK here and because of the mold its started getting termites and now because of termites my home has been having fire ants throughout the whole house its just nuts. So yea be very careful and mindful when you renting from someone or definitely before you sign a contract to buy!!! I am praying to hopefully get out if here ASAP!!! Thank you for sharing your situation and I’m glad your feeling better. Take care, God Bless
In KY home inspection isn't required to buy, and basically nobody has air quality tests run but WE DID! Thankfully no mold in the house when we bought 5 years ago! I'm so sorry you're dealing with that!!
@@SageandStoneHomestead oh wow really…here in Louisiana and Mississippi it’s required before your home can be listed on the market you have to fix EVERY little nit picking thing before a realtor will even consider listing your home. Thank God yall went through the process of getting testing done because ESPECIALLY in mobile homes like we have, mold is the first thing to take over and it doesn’t take much to have a mold breakout in the walls and unless something happens where that inner wall is exposed you dont know for a long time til your symptoms of mold exposure shows up…like my sons health did, thats how we knew something wasn’t right then shortly after the mold starting to be present. It’s definitely not ok but God is protecting us and it wont be much longer before we buy our farm/ranch. Take care I’m glad you shared your story
I was making something in the kitchen one day and I spilled and my daughter said “If you don’t make a mess it doesn’t count”. I asked her where she got that from and she said the lady you watch on TH-cam. ❤ Also where did you get the silicone fermenting lids?
Radish Fermented is good too. Let me know if the 3 Tbsp in 1 quart is too salty. Ive been making pickle chips fermented & put 1.5 TBSP in 1 quart of water. Seems very salty tasting to me. I have fresh dill & lots if garlic. I love fermented garlic.
