    I think the tomato in the thumbnail and the "pretty one" picked off the trellis is a Thornburns Terra Cotta. ❤

    Awesome harvest. Glad you are feeling better!
    I spent the weekend at my daughter's, helping a couple of her neighbors build chicken coops, rabbit hitched, raised beds for next spring..even though it's been triple digit temps here in Oklahoma. Thank goodness for garages, with huge fans!

    I'm having extreme garden envy watching this lol! My poor little garden is just almost burnt to a crisp and what isn't burnt up has been badly neglected because it's just too darn hot to get out there and get the work done! It's been over 100 degrees every day with the exception of 3-4 days in the last almost two months! It's also extra humid this summer which makes it that much more miserable. I think for next year, I'm going to try to transition to raised beds as much as possible and I'm going to have to build some sort of structure that I can throw shade cloth up on for those things that struggle in the severe heat of our summers here in North Texas.

    • @SageandStoneHomestead
      @SageandStoneHomestead  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shade cloth helps A LOT. the raised bed garden gets shaded by some trees in thr afternoon which is good. The lane (where the melons are) is the only place with zero shade all day and that's the area where the plants are tapping out first.

    Just fyi, your channel is about to explode in growth! You are so adorable, sweet, and relatable, and the algorithm is pushing it out there because I wasn't even searching any of your key words but YT kept suggesting your channel to me. I found Becky at Acre Homestead the same way, when she had less than 20,000 subs and it wasn't even a year after that her channel was at 100,000! So just keep being you and doing what you're doing, because it's working! Thanks for the enjoyable content :)

    That is a beautiful wagon load of food!! I'm so intrigued with the freeze dryer!!! Maybe one day I will be able to convince the hubby how much we need one!😂 I have hardly seen any horn worms this year either. Typically they are a big pest to battle, very strange summer for sure!

    Beautiful, bountiful harvest! Those Sugaretti are a delicata hybrid - "...offers a semi-bush habit, spreading only about 2 feet wide..." according to my research. LOL I had thought you were saying "sugar-ready" and just couldn't find anything like it. We adore delicata squash (and hybrids) here - so perhaps this one will be another variety we will try. Your tips and knowledge-sharing is so valuable! Thank you!

    Found my first caterpillar on my tomatoes. I’m not sure if it was a hornworm. It wasn’t very big and I picked it off and stepped on it before I got a good look. It was eating the tomato at the stem. Got my only four big tomatoes. I got BT and a UV flashlight overnighted! Tonight I hunt!

    Lovely garden harvest. Have you ever made fried green tomatoes? I remember when I was a child a neighbor would pick some of his green tomatoes before the rain would come and make that. He said he had plenty ripe ones and did not want cracks and disease.

  • @thenodiggardener
    @thenodiggardener ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Very chatty cat lol We've only just started getting ripe tomatoes, and as ever they are the Brad Gates varieties. I'm not a huge raw Tomato fan, but his are our favourites. Having garden picked in our salad for dinner just now was a delight! I can't get the Blue Gold Berry here in the UK, as far as I can tell at the moment. I may have to be a bit creative about getting them lol

      @2HillHomestead ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SageandStoneHomestead from google. Lol…. What size holes for purple martin house?
      2-1/8”
      Entrance hole: Traditional round entrance holes are generally 2-1/8” in diameter, but a range between 1-3/4” and 2-1/4” is acceptable. Round entrances should be placed about 1 to 1-1/2” above the floor or porch.

    Yes Peppergate or Seedgate is real. I wanted mostly Jalapeños because of their versatility but I ended up with some Jalapeño's and a Lemon Drop and some Shishito's. I also planted a Super Chili pepper and I don't know what it is but it's not a Super Chile. It's a large plant too and it took forever to start producing even though it was planted out first before anything else. The pods are small right now but hopefully some one will help me identify it when it's color comes in.

    • @iwanttobelieve5970
      @iwanttobelieve5970 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SageandStoneHomestead I'm okay with it because it was just my peppers. The majority of the mixups were with the Jalapeño peppers but some others growing squashes and watermelons were affected too. So I'm fine with it. I love peppers and fortunately I have plenty of other Jalapeños too.
