I actually love this thing so far and that's saying a lot coming from me. If some know I call a lot of these handhelds e-waste but what I wanted this for specifically it has successfully given me all of what I want it for. 🎉
Deciding to try this as my first 1:1 and as my return from Android (RG405M) to Linux (going to try muOS). While the higher end of emulation (GC/PS2/etc.) won't be accessible, I've come to conclusion that I'm fine with that and overall really excited to try this unit with DS, Pico8, Postmaster and more.
I wish they made Android version of it. Personally i dislike the button layout of the og cube thats why i didn't get one. But this layout with android for sure I'll buy one
But this one's Xtra Xtra cool! (oh wait, the previous half-dozen were too) Seriously though, Anbernic makes some good devices and the prices aren't inflated. I have a few myself (28/35SP/40H). If someone didn't care for the others, maybe this one will appeal to them. That square aspect ratio is certainly great for GB/GBC games and the pixel count is high enough that other systems should still look good even with letterboxing.
Any Odin, any Odin 2, Bunch of ayaneo, retroid pocket 4/4+/mini5, anernic rg556/rg cube/406 to name just a few…. you could add retroid pocket 3 plus, flip, RG 505, RG405.
I have an sd card full of games can i just put that in this and play the games i have on it without an issue? I had an anbernic a couple of years ago and put my sd card in there and it couldn't find my games
Literally no device does that. You must be young if you are expecting so much from a chinese electronics manufacturer focused on volume. This is your chance to spend 30 seconds figuring out how to dump your roms onto this device. You will understand computer file structures better because of it, and maybe you will be able to directly find a digital file of yours in the future without having to use the search function.
@@MikeVideos327 @MikeVideos327 I'm 30 and I have a life so I just asked a question to see if I would have the same problem I've already seen before I decide to buy this or not, I'm also expecting for this to do what everyone says it does which is read my files off of my SD card, I mean my oldest phones can do that so that's hardly expecting so much from this. Pretty bold of you to assume I don't already understand computer file structures off the question I asked, I know enough for somebody who doesn't spend all day learning about this stuff
i already have the original RG Cube, it was fantastic.. so i have no reason to pick this new cheaper and lower version one that doesn't even run Android. Was looking for an RG556 instead, that will be fun.
@@Bob_Smith19 Same. I passed on the others in the XX line, but have been wanting a 1:1 device and didn't like the existing options for various reasons. I really don't get why people get so butthurt about there being lots of different models in this range, when they all have significant differences in form factor.
Literally WHY would they stop when they are selling like hotcakes? Honestly this is a WAY better strategy for the long term. Instead of constantly having to learn a new powerplant and design around it, they pick one chip then just focus on the form factors and perfecting the design. I believe the next devices whenever the H700 chip run is over will be better because of the time they took. They can constantly just tweak the body designs to fit the new engine. Realistically everyone needs to calm down and stop being greedy. Its been less than a year since the original H700. They are just disapointed the new release is not what THEY wanted so they feel fatigue. My coffee this morning was $9, these devices are stupid cheap in todays world.
Please, no more H700 crap. Anbernic keeps losing time and resources with crappy consoles. Maybe that's their goal, to delay the "great thing", and keep selling this kind of crap.
Since when is too many choices a bad thing? For me this is the one I’ve been waiting for because I wanted the square screen. The RGB30 is crap and I want a replacement.

There no PS3 XBOX/XaBOX360 emulators on android, so what is the point of more power? You already have the AYN Odin 2 if you want to run windows games in winlator. The h700 is enough to run all retrogames plus dc and psp. That is insane. And you can get them for 50 bucks in every conceivable form factor. It should be obvious that these things are selling quite well
I've been waiting for a decently made low-end device for retro suff which is comfortable. The RGB30 was a great idea but had a bunch of issues, this is a better version of that so I'm sold. I have an Odin 2 for high-end stuff but it's too big and bulky (and expensive) to take out day to day.
@@Bob_Smith19 "horizontal handhelds" are objectively inferior was my point and they should've never taken off. All they do is cause more neck strain and feel awkward in the hand.

I don't need android on such devices, but if vendor goes that way, I vote for something like official LOS firmware with maintainers from vendor at least for start with specific app(s) in the market (RGB lighting, key mapping, etc) I don't think that handhelds prices will be much higher in this case just because all other parts of it is not high end - cheap displays, not much internal storage and RAM etc. So what I'm trying to say - for now cheap/old phone is better handheld that all this crap.
