I'm in love with this figure... I'm dying slowly without it.... Soundwave is possibly my favorite out of the original series and i'm SOO happy that this is referring to the old G1 cartoon rather than the transformers prime ext. I'm not a fan of the new ones at all the new looks drive me crazy.

The point of that is to point out the positives and negatives and allow the audience to get information on if something is worth buying or not. The overwhelming opinion in my video of this figure is that i like it. So again...how do i complain too much? My TRU Prime had his index finger pop off on me and I couldn't find it to save my life. I just put his axe in his hand and tried to forget about it. Then a few months later I was looking for something in my dresser, across the room from Prime, and lo and behold, the finger had made it into the 1/4" opening the top drawer on my dresser leaves because of a problem with the rail it's on. What are the odds of it flying 15 feet across the room and landing perfectly in a 1/4" opening of a 24 in drawer?
I"m saving up for this Soundwave from Big Bad Toy Store and he is $169.99. Also Optibotimus keeps suggesting that we check Big Bad Toy Store and so I did it is AWESOME!!! I found lots of transformers that I like now like Masterpiece Sideswipe. Thanks for suggesting Optibotimus!

Love your detailed video reviews Optibotimus! By the way on my TRU Soundwave I noticed some minor silver paint flaking in a couple of places. It's not something drastically serious or what can be considered as a major turn off point for buyers. It's more of like a minor cosmetic flaw that came right out of the box. Other than that, the figure is just excellent truly worthy of being in the masterpiece line. All the joints are stiff with no loose joints whatsoever nor is there any other paint mishap.
At 14:53 you press the cassette launch button, and Overtkill launched out from the chest. Maybe, like the FoC Soundwave, the cassettes fly out like the show. Also, I think the chest is designed for Masterpiece cassettes only, that's why G1 Lazerbeak was getting stuck. Just a thought.

That connector point (with 2 pins) shown at time index 6:55 connects to a "battery pack" which is assembled from Frenzy (blue robot) from MP16. All you have to do is plug that small silver piece (shown at time index 9:00) to that port and connect the "battery pack" to the other end of that silver piece.
Thanks for another great review. Some of the viewers are obviously not watching the entire review, where you actually remembered the name of the 4th MP cassette. Instead of a graphic of the Ark, Takara should have included the Decepticon ship from the 1st miniseries. I like the size comparison with MP Sideswipe. It reminded me of the 1st episode where Jazz, Prowl & Sideswipe got their butts kicked by Soundwave in 1 second. One kick with his left foot sent Sideswipe flying.
The blockyness of the figure makes it more easy to make more alternative modes, i make: a base mode, a train mode, a gun/crossbow mode, a sort of scorpion mode, and of course the classic cybertronian streetlight, making him a sort of SevenChanger. Also, the minicons can have alternatives modes to complement all the other modes of Soundwave, like a tank and airship modes to Rumble and Frenzy, a turret and axe mode to Ratpack, a car and crossbow mode to Ravage, and manny more.
Hey, hear this! I was watching the G1 cartoons and I realized that the ship that Soundwave's display sheet shows IT'S NOT THE ARK. If you watch G1 episode 1, you'll see Soundwave displaying the same image; those are the schematics of a Decepticon spaceship they're trying to build to return Cybertron. ¡¡Very, very cool touch!!
What would be cool if they made someway you could actually play music on him just like the music label I would take that boy to school and rock out to some Young Jeezy.
I have the Music Label Soundwave, and I love him, but he needs to be redone inside: a display on chest, more than 1GB MiniSD, more than only 128kbps MP3. Such potential they haven't used yet! He'd sell like crazy in the U.S.!
I have to get MP-13 Soundwave. I already have the Masterpiece Decepticon Minicassettes. The MP Lines have produced some of the more popular characters in the Transformers canon. At least you and some of the other viewers do take THE TIME to explain and actually demonstrate the transformations of these MP figures.
It's so frustrating how whenever a masterpiece figure gets released, I work my butt off to save some money and in the end he gets bought up EVERYWHERE. :(
I think you're right. The model looks like the Nemesis, which was the inspiration for/same model as the "Victory" ship they built and launched in Transport to Oblivion.
no it is actually talking about the actual speaker placements...it is the right speaker and left speakers on the right and left side...consecutively. this isn't a gaming controller that requires the need to give instructions on how to hold it. and if you look at the controller...the left hand and right hand concept is still true cause you are looking at the controller how you would use it to use it...it is already facing forward when your playing a game.
Optibotimus, Soundwave comes with laserbeak as you know but they are also coming out with rumble, frenzy, ravage, and buzzsaw. Buzzsaw was the one you could not remember.
If you remember the original G1 toys, Soundwave originally came with Buzzsaw, and we got Ravage and Rumble and Frenzy with Lazerbeak. Then later Frenzy with Ratbat. Those two other cassettes are Overkill and Slugfest. I noticed that the cassettes flew out of the chest if it was open. Maybe you could re-create the eject moment in the show where they flew out. Try it with the other cassettes.
Thanks for the review, my Soundwave is prepping for shipping at BBTS as I type this. I've had it in pre-order for quite some time. The only difference I see with the Megatron gun, is the joint at the handle, which allows the rear piece to swivel down. The MP-01 Megatron gun didn't have that. When I heard you talking about "wanting more energon cubes", you sounded a bit like Megatron... "I want more energon" :P
One thing you can do to help MP 05 Megatron be alittle bit more in scale with the current Masterpiece line is to Collapse his knees by pushing his lower leg up against his thigh taking away that extra inch from his knees and he will still maintain his knee articulation! Still too big for the current masterpiece line but scale wise, it's alittle bit more tolerable! Otherwise, great review!

F.Y.I. - The chest window display of the spaceship is not one of the Ark (never mind the fact that the Autobot ship was never named in the show)! It is representative of the plans for the new Decepticon space cruiser that they set about building after awakening on Earth (More Than Meets The Eye). The scanner device was seen one time only in the episode "Fire on the Mountain" when they were investigating an Incan pyramid in the Andes Moutains.
Somehow, the weird hip connections does not look that bad at all..... It in fact improves its articulation and making posing his leg super easy and kick ass......

There's no way in hell Hasbrow would release Soundwave without at least one cassette!!! I really hope Hasbro releases Soubdwave with all the cassettes, I don't really feel like paying $60 for 2 legend sized cassettes!!! Great review!!!
I think the final cassetticon is Rat-bat, which was first shown in the G1 episode that first showed off Ultra-Magnus, but it wasn't released until after Transformers the Movie in the U.S.

Dustin Nunn They're the same except for the visor color and the Decepticon symbol. The Hasbro version is way better value for your money since it comes with all the Casseticons.
Music Label Soundwave has been my most favorite representation of the character, until now. There are few G1 characters that I would not wait to purchase in the hopes that Hasbro would release a more economically priced Masterpiece version in the US. Megatron was my first Takara Masterpiece. Soundwave is my second.
i have mine still on preorder here in the UK I WANT IT SO BADLY NOW!!! also on another MP note i think our UK battle for MP-10 is getting us somewhere a lot of us are perstering TRU uk and Hasbro UK to stock them and they are saying that at the last toy fair they came to a decision that the mp-10s are in UK warehouses and TRU just needs to order and stock them now...Wish us luck
I think that the guns being built in to Laserbeak is cool, but it definitely removes the coolness of being able to use the tape holes for reasons besides just aesthetics.

That screen display is something that could be done by Impossible Toys, or whoever did the Starscream Coronation Set

It does have an extra joint the stock can now moved down further via the first joint while the old one had one silver circle and the new has two.

This has got to be your longest review.
Try using silicone lubricant to loosen those parts that were a real pain to bend/rotate on the sides there. It's a lube you can use on plastics.
