- These ZZ 'Ravens', which were supermarket scores and formerly at Sander's old apartment, have found a new home in the FLOCK Finger Lakes common house. Not only have they filled out nicely, but they have really outgrown the generic pots. Always on the look out for new planters-I really think I've found the perfect ones for them!

Lovely pots, although you may find in a year it's quite hard to take out and repot again as the tubers will fill the shape of those planters. I think Zzs need a wider rimmed pot but those are a very striking design !
I totally agree. In order to get those fleshy roots repotted in the future, I see a broken pot.
Agree. That was my first thought. They look cool. But the shape will result in the plant being very difficult to remove later.
100%. I had mine in a ceramic pot with a wide opening and still had to fight & fight with it to get it out. I wouldn't recommend potting it in anything other that a thin plastic cover pot that you can easily cut off if need be

I have three of the ZZ Raven plants...in the same white pots, that I bought at Lowe's about a year ago. Since I don't see them often, I bought two, then went back and got another one. The black pots are beautiful and do look like art. The black ZZ plants look gorgeous in them.
They are truly a work of art love those pots

OMGoodness Summer, I did a black on black on black potting for my Zamioculcas ‘zamiifolia as well. I used black mirrored glass topping and it’s a favorite potting of my collection. The detail oriented Virgoan I am appreciated your black tank, pots, spoon and watering can.
The pots remind of black snake eggs
Watching and thinking, "shocking she isn't using a spoon to repot!"
Then the spoon comes out, "there it is!!" 😂

ZZ plants are indestructible. Mine got lots of new growth but they all look different. One that’s all green, one with lime green leaves and black stems. The planter look good

So when it gets bigger how do you transplant it again without breaking that expensive pot?? It looks kinda enclosed.
True point... maybe it’s possible with soaking the soil and roots in water HEAVILY and then carefully getting the plants out, dividing them on the way. But you really have to have an eye on it, so you don’t wait too long indeed.
I prefer not to use planters which have a lesser diameter to the base, as it becomes a nightmare to repot if required.
But here maybe it's just permanent forever. And it looks really gorgeous! 🙂

I have been a fan of hers since 2017 and I always tell her that her pots and planters are the ABSOLUTE best. I have always had a plant or two, but her and my Nana are the reason I now have an indoor jungle. At one point I had 180. Now I reduced and am at about 60.

I have the same exact one and I remember how excited I was to find it while I killed time waiting for my first vaccine last February. The soil was peat and I had to stop myself from repotting it right away. When I took it out of the nursery pot it didn’t show much in the way of roots so I didn’t need to upsize the pot. I put it in terracotta and added well draining soil. I have it close to E facing window and I only water it once a month. I can’t wait to see new growth (so far nothing) I love how the new shoots are a contrasting bright green. My green ZZ has 6 big shoots coming up right now and is getting so big it may be a floor plant soon. I always remove the brown sheath from the base of the plant after it dries up….I think I read somewhere that bugs are drawn to dead plant material. I love your planter … those are gorgeous with the matching tray 💚🪴 🙏

All us plant people know about the white pot. We have a few in our pot bins. I have my raven in a pot that color. It was a hanging pot that I picked up at WalMart and just cut the rope off and made it into a regular pot. That color matches it really good.

I use the Lowes resin 20-inch containers. $25 for large 20 inch dark blue. Looks like ceramic too

This is my first time seeing them. I live in an area where those dark purple ornamental Japanese plum trees are ubiquitous, it would be neat to have a mature one outside of a picture window with ZZ plants indoors displayed on either side.
Love my zz - I began my plant mama journey w a Zz plant from a lady @ plant shop saying its easiest to care for AND in ASia/Singapore they are known to be lucky / money plant.... so there goes my ongoing relationship w plants N ZZ

I bought the same two black ZZ plants in the same white pots at Lowes last spring. I’ll check their roots as soon as my sleeping dog gets off my lap 🤓

Just got myself one of these today. I have lots of regular zz plants. I think I am up to 8 pots now with one in a 22 inch pot. The rest in 6 inch. This is my first exotic zz. I am hoping to find the zenzi as well some time this summer to make the collection complete.

I always have to add perlite to my cacti mix soil for any Zz or succulent. Otherwise it tends to hold on too long to the moisture. And I’ve experimented using plastic pots and Terra cotta.
I almost got these for my raven zz. Kinda wish i did now. Great minds think alike.
I would like to see replanting video from those " coming from earth" planters, would be more like coming from hell video. There are sculptured planters under big "ART" that are also FUNCTIONAL but there is few of them, they are very expensive ,very hard to create and very hard to find.
This nursery sells the small ravens for 90$ it’s insane like they must be out of their minds, I also I just found one for 17$ at Home Depot, perfect halloween plant! And she’s gonna look cute next to my other green z’s

I really love the ZZ Raven aswell mine is just have the size of the one that you have. Such a great low maintenance plant and plant beginner. I also like the standard green one aswell really lovely green waxy shine to it. My collection of plant pots is modern since my home is modern.

The raven dark zz is pretty good. No pest problems, no issues in low light. My zenzi dwarf zz got root rot twice in 1 year, due to having less leaves and using less water than regular zz.
Love the Zenzi, did get one late last summer and I separated the rhizomes a week later from just getting it shipped. They are so easy to care for, mostly with neglect, hah. I live for that dark foliage!

So should the tubers not normally be seen? When I've repotted mine to get it out of that nasty Costa peat, I didn't want to pot it too deep. But maybe seeing the tubers is a good sign it needs repotting?
Ravens are so stunning and I still love them so much since finding my first one in January of 2020. That pot combo is stunning!
When this zz will outgrow this new planter how will u take it out from the planter as this planter is kind of closed from the neck won't it be difficult to pull it out

I used indoor house plant soil on my Raven ZZ plant and it's now dying. I didn't know I needed succulent or cactus potting soil to replant it. I will try that and see what happens.
Stunning!!! How do you get them to grow? Mine hardly had any growth. I had it for over a year. I tried more light, humidity and watering not too long after it goes fully dry. Hard to get them to grow in my experience.
They always slow. Quickest way is to buy several containers and combine them. Use fertilizer without overdosing.
For variegated zz, propagate the single leaves. Otherwise 1-2 new stems can take 1 year.

I have 2 pots with just 1 branch each and had very little growth so I'm still waiting...
I love those black zz plants, but they’re really expensive in my area. The green zz plant is less so.
I don't know why I always like to remove the zz plant brown colour covering after the new leaf have fully grown haha
