Can't beat card show pickups! I have never seen those Topps cards that weren't made either those are cool! I love how the community contributes to what we collect! That wouldn't happen in a vaccum. Thanks for sharing and keep on rocking!
Wow! This is an amazing collection of new cards for the collection Me. Mookie! Love Al of those Bowman cards! That is a very cool Tom Seaver card! The Car Furillo is meant to be on that wall!!!
Great pack break results Mookie! Always nostalgic to rip some wax! Love the ultra rare McGwire gum edition. Sweet Seaver! The Newcome and campy are super cool! Thanks for sharing! The signature looks real to me.
For Sam Jethroe: It's a follow-through. I speculated the same thing when I first saw it; but, I found a few vintage photographs later that depicted a very similar pose--and it showed he was following-through a left-handed swing.
"That was the only sleeve we could find that would hold it" said about a sleeve that clearly in no way holds it made me chuckle! You rescued that Seaver for sure, regardless of price it was being treated improperly and now it's in a good home 🙂 I absolutely love that you salvaged that glorious pinhole Furillo card too, it's in the perfect home and collection now. Those '51 Bowman were a steal for sure. Love the calculated risk in picking up that Campy auto, I'm not qualified enough to have an opinion but going to choose to believe it's real until proven otherwise. Fantastic video and show haul, Mookie!
I’m a sucker for card show pick Ups. I’m always the guy who asks everyone who is leaving the old man question of “Did you leave anything good in there for me?!” My grandpa would be proud! For your package, very excited to rip it open on the channel ! Thanks brotha!
Great pockups. I lovebthe stories that come along woth any of your pickups. The gum on the McGwire is awesome andntge mispriced Seaver os just so funny. That Newcombe is awesome and anything Furillo is fantastic to me.
Butch Huskey! I remember getting his autograph when he played for the Tides back in the mid 90’s. I thought he was going to be a huge star too. Adam has won one proselyte to the Ed Lopat club 😄 Nice deals on the Bowman cards, love the Newcombe! I can’t wait to see the outcome of the Campy exhibit..it looks like a legit auto to me 🤞Great finds Mookie
Sell high and buy Lopat! I was verrrry excited for Butch and unfortunately it just didn’t quite work. I will update on Campy as soon as possible - fingers crossed indeed! Thanks Hugo!!
Now that I've finished watching Alex's livestream, I can come back to commenting on this video because this video deserves a comment. Thanks for inspiring me to figure out who hit the first Major League home run that I saw in person. I never would have guessed it was Luis Medina.
Love the gum card! I've got a decent collection going, and the rule is it's gotta stick, or it will not stick (in the gum card collection). Nice $1 Dihigo grab, and that Jethroe is one that I love too. It's a lefty follow through. Fantastic Bowman Newcombs and Campy to cap it off!
Totally awesome pick ups brother. Eddie Lopat is on my mind because of Adam as well. Any time I hear his name, I think of Adam haha. Love that grand finale, my favorite is the Newcombe rookie.
Nice video Mookie. My favorite parts are hearing about Jeff Leonard and how you described the wear on Furillo. Many times a collector gets a lower grade card and feels the need to describe all the flaws before you can even think about it. It is a defensive mechanism. I know it is off centered. You don’t need to tell me! Not that I need to tell you, but I like how you examined the card in a way that made what some would view as a flaw into something that should be celebrated. It is part of the cards journey. For me, much more interesting.
Terry! Congratulations on going into the hall of fame! Hand Models unite! Yes - I’m so glad you can see what I see in those damaged cards. That Furillo is a 1 of 1 original, and it’s just an honor to hang it up in my office.
Awesome pick ups Mooo !! I could Be wrong here but I think even hank aaron used to bat with reversed hands like that before he changed for the MLB. Either way Sam the jet is amazing and that card is sickooo
Checked out a few Roy autographs and I think it may be real. The slant and the capital R sure resembles the real thing. The "best wishes" part I think is also a plus. I will be interested in what the JSA has to say. Nice pickup.
The "best wishes" made me feel better for sure - the only thing that gave me some pause was the little loop on the B and the R, but I'm just not an expert in the least. Will have JSA take a look and I will definitley give an update! Thanks Mike!
I remember Huskey, Bill Pulsipher and Jason Isringhausen all being prospects for the Mets. One of them definitely came out on top with their career. Haha Huskey had pretty good numbers in 96 and 97 after looking. I’d buy that card any day for $1. Good luck on the Campy! Worth the risk in my opinion
Oh heck yes - those were the young guns! Paul Wilson was the other one - supposed to be the next great pitching staff. Not so much! I will update on Campy as soon as possible for sure
Mookie, I see a VR idea for you or someone: Show us your overpriced cards! Winner is the collector who was forward-thinking enough to overpay the most! 😆 That oversized Seaver looks like a great deal to me, but then again I love to overpay! 😆 Seriously, I do not know if it is a great deal, but my collector instincts tell me that is a great buy! 😊👊So honored you got the glorious Lopat! Congratulations! I share in your joy! You blew me away because I did not pay any attention or notice you had tagged me on this video! 😂 Two truly stunning Newcombe cards! So glorious! You are doing nothing but winning and ... overpaying! ... or ... underpaying! ... or ... who the heck really knows what decades-old cardboard should be worth!? 😂 Love it! Oh, for the Mookie World Headquarters Suggestion Box: Consider Lopat as the Grand Finale! 😆👊 Take care, my collecting brother!
I knew you would share in my joy!! Sell high? Buy Lopat! The bumper sticker writes itself! and You’re so right, I should have totally ended with Eddie! Management is taking your suggestion under advisement. Thanks Adam - I’m so glad you watched and enjoyed.
What did they do, eat the middle of the piece of gum? Why didn't they peel the old sticker off or put a new sticker over the top? Am I overthinking this? lol The artist who painted Jethroe (with the hands crossed) was all-county in Tiddlywinks and played no other sports.
So many great questions! I loved that $5 sticker. It was early, it was a teenager, and I thought the idea of paying OVER sticker for a beat up card like that was at least a funny story! And yes - keep Jethroe’s artist out of my control tower, please.

Yeah buddy - the influencers are out there!! Thanks Doug!

You’re so right, Carl Furillo is safe at home!! Thanks Jason!

From your lips to JSA's ears! I may have opened more 1987 wax than anything else, tha McGwire is a 1 of 1! Thanks Darren!

Aha! You’re done the legwork on the arms! Thanks Battery - mystery solved!

Thanks Shane! The Garfield rescue operation was a big success! Will keep you posted on Campy!
Excellent as always, I always like seeing the exhibit cards
Thanks Allen - I really appreciate that!
Wonderful cards Mookie! Especially, that Bill Buckner card and the pinhole pickup!
That’s my sentimental favorite for sure, Rick. He’s resting comfortably on the cork as we speak!
Great stuff Mookie! Awesome deal on the 51 bowmans
Thanks Jason! I appreciate it very much!
I’m a sucker for card show pick
Ups. I’m always the guy who asks everyone who is leaving the old man question of “Did you leave anything good in there for me?!” My grandpa would be proud!
For your package, very excited to rip it open on the channel ! Thanks brotha!
Haha That’s my kind of joke!! Thanks BK - hope you enjoy it!

That Newcombe is awesome and anything Furillo is fantastic to me.
I'm so glad to hear that, Drew!! the gum-stuck big mac just makes me smile... and the Carl Furillo might have been my favorite pickup!
Cool 🎉
Thanks GIG!!!

Great stuff mookie, I had not seen that modern DiHigo card. Need to look through dollar bins more often. Great Mets cards, thanks for sharing
I will trade it for one of yours haha! Thanks Orlando!
Real nice Newcombes brother, very nice…love the campy exhibit card
yeah buddy!! I will update on that auto - I might have to erase it if it's fake haha
Great video Mookie! Several great pickups. I’ve always loved that ‚51 bowman Sam Jethroe. For some reason I knew Lopat was going to be next!
I try not to fall prey to "influencers" but Vintage Sanctuary boosterism for Eddie Lopat is just too effective

Exactly! I could not have picked Eddie Lopat out of a lineup before Adam! now I love the guy. What a world!
Enjoyed the video Mookie! Hope that Campy comes back authentic.
Stuke, I can’t wait to find out! Will keep you posted for sure!
