    Very nice! I buy them as you told me - in the off season. Cheaper than dirt sometimes. ONes w/ lots of issues are almost free. Many thanks!

    Just bought a scag 52 Thats runs perfect, no major problems, no leaks for $300 obo. I told him don’t let anyone look at it until I get there and I’ll give him the $300, no less offer. He did. Taking it in tomorrow for new belts, oil change, tune up and got a brand new mower all in $700.

    I run the old bobcat 48" mower as well. It's a great mower but I hate using it. Kinda a pain in the ass to mow with for the larger properties. But it does cut great and that thing is a tank

      What kind of turf angle is acceptable with the bobcat

    Buy cheap and fix up. My first Scag, an older SWZ48 I purchased off a neighbor for $200. Was sitting under his deck for 3-4 years so I decided to inquire about it and shoot him a price. I have probably $300 into it including new seal kits for hydro pumps and she’ll last another 25-30 years. This fall I purchased an older SWZ36 with the original bagger attachment for $300. Haven’t been able to go thru her yet but I’m hoping nothing serious. The only advice I can give if your going to purchase a used walk behind is you better be mechanically inclined and know a little about small engines. They are money pits if you aren’t familiar…

    Nice explanation and Thanks for showing your collection of mowers. I just bought a Bunton 48" hydro-static in really good condition that still has all the stickers etc. I think Bobcat bought the name with the FC420 Kawasaki engine. Did you find a need to add a starter to it? The Rip cord nearly broke my fingers because the compression release didn't release. I adjusted the rockers correctly which made it better, but it can be an engine with strong pull back. I think I might add a starter to it and I was checking if you had done this? BTW This is my first walk-behind I own because my riding mowers can't do hills!! :)

    id love to try that hydro floating deck you got. I run a 48 inch one with the style in the middle but with a floating deck. I can go ANYWHERE anytime. ill have to get a video of it its an 02

      That's the advantage of these mowers! Get a sulky and their nearly as fast as the riders! Why buy a mower that can't do the entire lawn? Plus its easier to hop off, you can get underneath trees and everything easier too

    Trying to decide on the 48 or 52 hydro walk behind new. It’s only 4 more inches but bigger motor and was not sure if I’ll need to get between gates. Can’t decide. Dealer says 48 is the most popular size and 400 cheaper.

    • @everythingmechanical4638
      @everythingmechanical4638  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your worried about gates definitely go with the 48. But for wide open areas it's definitely nice to have a wider deck

    Great Great thanks, sorry late to party, my question, does storing hydro scag in unheated garage over winter minus15,20,can that temp damage hydro system, I'm shopping for home use ,would prefer hydro vs belt but am flexible for 1/2 acre,scag 36or 48 thanks best luck to you mister

    • @everythingmechanical4638
      @everythingmechanical4638  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't see any reason why that might damage the hydro system, especially if your not using it when it's that cold. If your worried then I would just make sure you only use the machine when it's warmer

    i just got the same scag as the one on the right what is the difference on the decks

    • @everythingmechanical4638
      @everythingmechanical4638  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The swzt models have a hero deck wich isnt as good as the advantage or velocity decks however still cuts really well. The only exception is the 52" advantage deck like I have on the middle mower, that deck doesn't cut very quickly and clumps up easy, for that reason Scag doesn't sell the 52" Advantage anymore and in my experience the hero deck cuts much better than that one

    • @stephenmacdonald76
      @stephenmacdonald76 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      i think my older one has the advantage deck which is great in really wet heavy grass that we have here in Scotland, that one is 18 years old snd the engine is knackered but the rest of the machine pretty solid, so we are getting a new engine for it, the one we got today we had it on hire and just decided to buy it, it was £275 for a week and to buy it was £2850, we decided to just get it as we had a great dane which is not playing ball and we need to get through the final week of the season

    How is that new scag on your hands? I have carpal tunnel as well and was thinking of this or the toro

    • @everythingmechanical4638
      @everythingmechanical4638  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't gotten much of a chance to really use it yet, but I would say it's definitely better. It's still a little bit heavy. But the placement seems better. I will probably also try and add lighter springs since it shouldn't affect the hydros at all

    I’ve been searching and searching for a crap walk behind to fix up. I can’t justify dropping 8k+ on new stand on for small residential yards. Looking for a 36 hydro or belt

      Go if you can afford it, go with the hydro, much less abuse on your hands

    walk behinds are not that bad but ill tell you i have about 2000 hours on my scag cheetah and 1000 on the other one and the walkbehind dosnt have a hour meter but the walkbehind is just too slow for the most part only for between gates and a few hill section you need a 61 scag cheetah plus lawn mowing does anyone ever pay the lawn mower guy that well

  • @romadonezero

    Best lawnmower ever created.. Don't buy a belt drive.. Hydro is the way to go. Ive got a 48" belt i use once a year maybe. My 52" scag SWZ fs600v is unreal.. I will never not own it. Have a 36" scag hydro walk behind as well.
    The comment about the scag hydros... You only have to add one chain link on the springs. Tendonitis is gone..
    Never ever ever change gears in manual peerless transmission when you are moving. You MUST STOP.
    Use Amsoil 20-50 zeroturn hydraulic fluid! Change hydro fluid filter once a. Year.

    You can adjust how hard you have to squeeze

    • @everythingmechanical4638
      @everythingmechanical4638  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can't really... These scag belt drives are known for their heavy controls, and giving carpel tunnel, and tendonitis. You can replace the brakes if they're not grabbing well enough but other than that theres not much you can do. If it's a hydro it shouldn't be as hard and you can replace the ends on the rods connecting to the control levers and hydro pumps as those tend to wear out and get hard to move over time

      @@everythingmechanical4638 I live in Michigan near a company j Thomas they are a huge lawnmower supplier the belts are a fraction of the price or rual king has the same belts the lawnmower store has for 1/2 if a guys can still read a tape measure the belts are the way to go you can either go up on size of belts and adjust rod out for looser squeeze if you look back on Wright brand mowers on TH-cam he made a video probably 10 years ago covering this
